Slapshot Novel #6
Trainwrecks & Back Checks: A Slapshot Novel (Slapshot Series Book 6) - Heather C. Myers

This sixth book in the Slapshot series is a fake romance, but it's a bit different than most. Art and Chloe aren't in it for money, fame, or any of the other selfish reasons for this type of romance. We've seen abuse before in this series, but this one gets a bit more up close and personal. Chloe's fear and worry from the moment she realizes that her abusive ex has found her so well done that it's almost palpable. Of course, the sexy Art comes to the rescue and their fake romance quickly starts to become something more. In spite of her fear and the dark elements of the story, Chloe has quite the bubbly personality and the stoic and protective Art is absolutely perfect for her. There are some parts of the story that are shocking and hard to read, but at the end of the darkness, there is hope and love.
While this one is part of a series, it works well as a standalone, but there are so many great characters in the Slapshot novels, that I can easily recommend the whole series. Art and Chloe's romance is a solid addition to the series and is a compelling and entertaining read.

On my mind
Love's Back Pocket - Heather C. Myers

Holly agrees to go to a concert with a friend, and meets Tommy.  He calls her on her studying and has her go backstage.  Then he invites her to tour for the summer.

Tommy is attracted right from the start.  He is a bit selfish.  He is very talented.  He also has a way with women.  Holly cannot stand the man and she almost gives up on him.

This book reminded me of the original series romances.  Very old fashioned in its pacing and style.  You might even call it a modern My Fair Lady.  I thought the characters development was good to see.  Music and a hot guy are always a thrill to read also.  I give this story a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

The Art of Persuasion: Book 4 of The Swashbuckling Romance Series - Heather C. Myers

This started off a bit slow for me but as the relationship between Matt and Isla grew so did my enjoyment. Isla has been sent back in time and finds herself in the bed of a pirate. Matt's acceptance of her story brings a new world to Isla who has doubted herself and her life. Isla adapts to her new surroundings and finds that she is better suited for this world. The dangers are different but still all around her, yet she helps to solve a murder mystery. As the pages were turned, I wanted to read more.

Falling for the Devil (Devil Series Book 1) - Heather C. Myers,Katya Sarria

For me, this was an interesting telling of Beauty and the Beast. I loved the idea of Satan (in this case Andrew) as the beast. To his surprise, as his feelings for Harleen grow, he develops a beating heart. Harleen may not be happy that her uncle sold her to the devil, but she learns that Andrew is right for her. He makes her happy and desired. With a couple misunderstandings and danger, the two of them finally admit their love for each. I enjoyed this book.

Killing by Captivation - Heather C. Myers,Desiree DeOrto

Mandy is human. Paul is not but wants to be. He has an assignment that will allow him to be human. Danger now follows Mandy. Together, they fall in love and sacrifice for that love. Their journey takes them from earth to Hell. The premise for this story intrigued me, and I enjoyed this quick read.
