I'm not liking Luke and Ash!
Sweet Possession (Nights Series #5) - A.M. Salinger
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book. This is book 5 in the Nights series, and you should AT LEAST read book 4, Sweet Obsession before this one, this is a continuation of Ash and Luke's story. I LOVED books one through three, but four and now five, have been a bit of a let down. Maybe I just don't like Luke and Ash, you know?? This has a little bit of a story, thrown in with some hot and steamy stuff, and a lot of Luke being a total twat of an idiot thinking about what he thinks Ash needs. And rather than talking to Ash, he runs. Much like Cam did when Gabe says those three little words. I loved that Ash could make the famous Luke Rutherford lose his cool and totally let himself go and take from, and indeed GIVE to, Ash, what they both really need. Loved that we get an appearance from Gabe and Cam, and Ethan and Joe. I dunno WHY these two books didn't quite work for me, I really don't and you KNOW how much it pains me not being able to word the feelings! BUT!! In book 3, I saw something going on between the two guys who own the company Gabe works for. THEIR story is next, and I cannot wait to read it! So, I'm sorry, but... 3 stars (but please keep these coming!) **same worded review will appear elsewhere**

i need more of this author!
Hers, Unbroken (Hers #2) - Anna Adler
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book. As head of the pet training centre, Holly knows exactly what that training involves. Chase deliberately gets himself caught to be taken to the training centre, because that is what he really wants! To be a sex slave. Holly though, wants to set him and all the other pets free. But Holly only has Chase for 48 hours before they come for him. Can they work together to get what they BOTH want?? This is book 2 in the Her series but you don't NEED to have read book one, Hers Untamed, for this one to make sense. However, personally, I think you SHOULD read it before this one. It will give you a better picture of the people of Silenia, and just what having a pet means to them. It will also give you a better picture of just how different Holly is from the rest of her people. Also, I said in my review for that book, I wanted Jax, the 'pet', to have a say, because he didn't. Chase DOES have a say here, and it does creep my star rating up a fraction but I still can't stretch to the full 5 stars. And I think that's mostly because the rebellion happens almost overnight! One day, they all want to keep their pets under lock and key, and the next, everyone is free!! Felt really kinda rushed to me. It's still a really great read, and I loved that Chase refuses to perform for anyone but Holly. Loved that she couldn't quite get her head round the fact he wanted to be a sex slave. And I did read it in one sitting! Are there more planned?? I hope so. Even with the rushed rebellion, I think these people have more to say. 4.5 stars, rounded up for the blog. **same worded review will appear elsewhere**

4 shiny stars
The Dragon's Thief - Riza Curtis
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book. A magpie is hired to steal from a dragon's hoard. What could possibly go wrong?? Short! So very VERY short! That's my overwhelming thought on finishing this book, I wish it were longer. It's told mostly from Chester, the magpie's point of view, but Michal, the dragon who hires Chester, gets some say, just not enough for my liking! It's not overly complicated, nor is it explicit nor violent. It's well told, and well delivered. Some more could have been made of the feud between Michal and his brother James. It was just too bloody short! BUT!!! I DID enjoy it, spending an hour sitting out in the sun on my day off. It's the first I've read of this author, but now she is firmly on my radar, my wish list is a little longer and hopefully I'll be able to read more soon. Because I LIKED the way she tells her tales, and I LIKED that we get a magpie shifter, because I have never read a magpie shifter! And ya'll know I love them different! So, because I found it too short ( I did NOT know it was a short going in!) and because I wanted more Michal... 4 shiny stars (because magpies love shiny things!) **same worded review will appear elsewhere**

4 solid stars
Home Skillet (Culinary Kings #1) - Cate Ashwood,Sandra Damien
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book. James finds himself with a divorce, and the loss of his precious restaurant so he runs to the only place, the only person, he ever really called home. Ben has loved James forever, but having him crashing on his couch is playing havoc with his well built walls. But is what Ben feels as one sided as he thinks?? For the most part, I enjoyed this. I just found James a little much to deal with at times! And I am left with questions that didn't get answered. I'm NOT going to voice them here, because if you read reviews before buying you might be left with the same questions and it might spoil it for you. It did NOT spoil my reading experience, not at all, I'm just left wondering about a few things. I did like that James came to the realization of his feelings for Ben before Ben made a move. I did like that, once they decided to do this, James and Ben go ALL in, especially on James' part, since he's been in the closet all this time. It was a lovely read, a perfect way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. A little longer than the usual hang over cure, but I used it as such. A not overly complicated, well written tale, with just a few things missing. 4 solid stars **same worded review will appear elsewhere**

really REALLY good!!
Owned by the Sea - L.M. Somerton
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book. A year ago, Jonty's world imploded at the loss of his parents and his sister in a storm at sea. In an effort to get out more, and begin to try to get on with his life, Jonty decides a charity auction to raise funds for the lifeboat station that saved him would be a good idea. Jed was on that lifeboat, indeed, was that one to pull Jonty from the stormy sea and he knew, he KNEW that day, that one day, Jonty would be his. The charity auction is a great way to spend time with Jonty, to get Jonty into his life, and into his bed. I liked this one, a lot, a LOT! It focuses on Jonty coming out of himself, pushing his own boundaries. On Jed's 'no rush' approach to getting Jonty into his bed. On the fact that neither of these two men see this...whatever it is...as a quick fling. And on Jonty's art auction, that pulls the whole village together to raise money for the lifeboat station. It's well told, from both men's point of view, so we get Jonty's escape from the sea, and his effort to pull himself out of his painting funk. We get Jed and all the naughty thoughts he has about Jonty, and his infinite patience. There is no break up/make up, no nutty ex to spoil anything between them and their growing love. It's a really great easy read and I mean this in a very VERY good way! Jed in a Dominant that calls to Jonty's submissive side, but it's only in the bedroom and nothing too heavy. I've NOT filed it on the BDSM shelf, because of that fact. I actually found it not overly explicit for a MM book, and I really liked that it wasn't too heavy on the sexy time. It's not needed for THIS book. OH!!! Be warned! There is a third in this relationship, a Newfoundland dog called Marmite. He really steals the show, that is, right up until Jed gives Jonty his gift right near the end. Some proper giggle out loud moments! A great story, well written, that was the perfect way to spend a lazy, wet, holiday afternoon. 4 solid stars **same worded review will appear elsewhere**
