Shane Masters has it all: a promising career with the Baltimore Banners, a big house, fast cars, financial security, and—up until a month ago—the woman of his dreams. Now he's floundering, with no idea what he did wrong and no idea how to win her back. To make matters worse, her brother—Shane's former best friend—shows up and decides to get involved.

Chloe Hunter has never run from a challenge in her life—until the weekend she visits Shane in Baltimore and realizes he isn't exactly the same man she fell in love with all those years ago. He's too accustomed to getting what he wants and Chloe refuses to be just another prize for the taking. That doesn't mean she's giving up, not yet.

Shane will stop at nothing to win Chloe back. But when the past suddenly collides with the present, will he fight for a future with her—or will the game end before their chance to be together even starts?

Fighting To Score (Baltimore Banners #12)Fighting To Score by Lisa B. Kamps
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book #12, in the Baltimore Banners series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. For complete understanding of the series, and to avoid spoilers also, I recommend reading this series in order.

Chloe is running scared. She got together over the holidays with the love of her life. Can she trust him not to break her heart, again?

Shane has always been in love with just one woman. He thinks all is well after they reconnect over Christmas. Then she disappears again. Is it possible to fix what you never knew was broken?

These characters were really something. I almost put the book down. There was a lot of angsty pieces. I am so glad I read to the finish line. This couple was so meant to be. I found it to be right on for this series.

About the Author:

Lisa B. Kamps is a USA Today Bestselling Author who loves cheering loudly for her favorite hockey team, the Washington Capitals. She came about the fandom honestly as she lives in Maryland with her husband and two sons (who are mostly sorta-kinda out of the house), one very spoiled Border Collie, two cats with major attitude, several head of cattle, and entirely too many chickens to count.

While Lisa writes a lot of hockey - one such series, The Baltimore Banners, features "…hard-hitting, heart-melting hockey players…" [USA Today], on and off the ice - she also delves deep *ahem* into the heat with a series of hot and heroic firefighters who put more than their lives on the line in the Firehouse Fourteen series. She's recently introduced a whole new team of hot hockey players who play hard and love even harder in her Banners' spin-off series, The York Bombers. The Chesapeake Blades--a romance series featuring women's hockey--also recently launched with WINNING HARD. Her newest series, Cover Six Security, will launch in early 2019.

Coach's Challenge (Baltimore Banners #8.5) by Lisa B. Kamps
Coach's Challenge: A Baltimore Banners Intermission Novella - Lisa B. Kamps

Lisa B. Kamps is once again victorious with COACH'S CHALLENGE, book 8.5 in the Baltimore Banners series.  Banner's hockey team head coach, Sonny LeBlanc, is put to the test when he becomes interested in single mom, Monica Jennings.  Due to an abusive marriage, she has trust issues but Sonny wants to help heal her.  This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adults.

COACH'S CHALLENGE is a touching novel.  I enjoyed Sonny’s and Monica’s story.  We met Monica in book 5, BREAK AWAY.  She is the older sister of Emily Poole, girlfriend of Banner’s JP Larocque.  I appreciated how Emily always subtly tried to put Monica and Sonny in situations together.  Okay, maybe it wasn’t subtle.  I love Monica’s daughter, Taylor.  She was instrumental in getting the couple together.  I found it amusing that Sonny bribes her to help him.

Monica has had a difficult time recovering from her abusive marriage.  Understandably, she has a hard time moving on.  I like Coach LeBlanc.  He is a bit rough around the edges.  I smiled every time he grunted. I could totally picture him.   He is also, divorced and has been out of the dating scene for a while.  He is sweet, patient, and perceptive.  This story spans over quite a bit of time.  The two are both awkward on their dates.  They haven’t gone out with anyone in such a long time; they’re not sure how to act.  It is very sweet.  They are perfect for one another.

Coach's Challenge is well-written and believable.  The name of the book is cleaver. The characters are realistic and likeable.  I enjoyed the epilogue.  It made the story feel complete.  I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

On Thin Ice (The Baltimore Banners, #8) by Lisa B. Kamps
On Thin Ice (The Baltimore Banners Book 8) - Lisa B. Kamps

Lisa B. Kamps’ ON THE ICE is another amazing addition to The Baltimore Banners Series.  The last thing NHL defenseman, Kenny Haskell, expects to happen at the youth hockey game he attended was to be thrown out by referee, Lauren Gannon.  The two keep bumping into each other in not the best of circumstances. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for new adult and adult audiences.

I really like both Kenny and Lauren.  They are both hard working and love hockey.  They had some interesting encounters prior to becoming civil to one another.  They have great chemistry and fun verbal banter.  I appreciated that Lauren calls him out on his bad plays.  She is tough and responsible.  She has a good heart and is loyal.  Kenny is a great guy.  He has worked hard to get where he is at and determined to stay there.

Lauren’s little sister Lindsay is a little brat.  I felt sorry for the position she put Lauren in.  She is a selfish individual who does not appreciate others.  She causes some conflicts that make the story interesting.

The plot was believable and skillfully executed.  The story flowed well and exciting from start to finish.  The hockey scenes were expertly described.   ON THE ICE had a great ending.  I learned some interesting medical things I was unaware of.  I like that Lauren’s brother, Dale, is a firefighter and will have a story in Lisa B. Kemps Firehouse Fourteen Series, Book 4, INTO THE FLAMES.  I thought it was clever how she tied in her two series.  I really enjoy The Baltimore Banners and its characters.  I cannot wait for the next story in the series.
