New Release Review! Touch of Ice (Dawn of Dragons #1) Mary Auclair
Touch of Ice (Dawn of Dragons Book 1) - Mary Auclair,Eclipse Press

He is as cold as ice. She is the salvation that will melt his heart.

When Endora is faced with her daughter’s terminal illness, she takes the only chance she’s got. She braves the potential risks and signs a mating contract with the Delradon Draekon Lords, intent on using the payment to buy the aliens’ cure to save her daughter’s life.

Lord Aldric Darragon rules over his land with an iron fist until one day the only woman who is genetically compatible with him agrees to his offer of mating. As his all-consuming passion for Endora explodes, an ancient threat looms heavy over humans and Delradons alike. With the lives of everyone he cares about hanging in the balance, Aldric has to fight the demons of his past if he wants to defeat the enemies of the present.

Publisher’s Note: This gripping sci-fi alien romance has it all: dragons, passion and tension. It also contains explicit themes and is intended for adults only.

Editor: Eclipse Press

I have been blessed! I have found another new author to read and a new series that I can sink my teeth into!

Mary Auclair is the new author and the series is Dawn of Dragons which is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi, paranormal romance which has both an historical feel but with futuristic touches that blends perfectly to make it easy to imagine the post-apocalyptic scenery and the lives of the characters that live there. The scenes are brought to brilliant life with well written words that produce the vivid imagery that makes it so the reader feels as if they are part of it, so if the author keeps this up, I will definitely be happy to read all the books she can produce.

All the characters are fascinating, strong and compelling which draw readers in and ensure that they want to know more with the hero and heroine, Aldric and Zara having lots of chemistry and a turbulent relationship with lots of emotional issues to overcome and obstacles to face in order to achieve their ever after which keeps readers glued to the pages as the rocky romance takes grows and the sizzling attraction heats up the pages.

Suspense and anticipation builds throughout the story as Endora tries to accept her situation which tugs at even the most hard hearted of heart strings while facing a man that seems to be made of ice. And then there is Aldric that finds he has a chance at his HEA but finds it hard to show his feelings and reach for it. The emotional turbulence is suspenseful enough, but together they must face an enemy that is out destroy their very lives in this steady to fast paced plot.

Touch of Ice is a gripping tale had me completely caught in its fascinating world from beginning to end and I can’t wait to read the next book.

Touch of Ice is the 1st book in the Dawn of Dragons series.

quote 2018-03-08 15:14
"Reading was my addiction and I read from the moment I woke up until I fell asleep at night. There was that moment before I learned to read when I used to trace my hand under the words, understanding that this symbol meant this thing in the picture above. And then there was that next moment, when the code was broken and everything was clear."

Review: The Norse Chronicles by Karissa Laurel
The Norse Chronicles - Karissa Laurel

This is a must read for every fan of Norse mythology fan. Even if you have not read or seen much Norse mythology you will love these books. This urban fantast trilogy is the perfect mix of modern world with accident gods roaming this world among us.

Follow Solina as she discovers she is part of a world she never thought was real and as she learns so much she never even thought of. She uncovers secrets she was never meant to know, which puts her in danger and on the run. During her journey she meets some new people but quickly learns that she can’t trust everybody and people will betray her to stop her from finding out too much.

All three books are jammed packed with action, laughter, sass and just the right amount of romance and they will keep you on the edge of your seat with some pretty big and awesome plot twists.

Overall, I highly enjoyed all three books and can only recommend them. I rate it 4 ½-5 ★

Survivors' Dawn
Survivors' Dawn - Ashley Warren

Brooke Flanagan is ready for the college experience.  She has been raised in a conservative, religious household and is ready to breakout.  Lauren Le is the daughter of an immigrant and has always balanced her party lifestyle with good grades.  Nikki Towers is their cool and confident Resident Advisor who is trying to figure out what to do with the rest of her life.  Colin Jordon is a wealthy, privileged, smug,  college senior who has easily rolled through life. He takes joy in having sex with women against their will and making them believe it was their idea.  Colin Jordon is a sexual predator that has always gotten his way because of who he is; this is, until he sexually assaults Brooke, Lauren and Nikki.  The three women believe that there is no hope, but together, they find that they are stronger.

This is a very timely and important book that not only shows how anyone can be sexually assaulted, but how you can survive the trauma of sexual assault with support and bring justice to your accuser no matter how powerful they believe themselves to be.  With that, it did take me a while to get into this book, the first half of the book details the three women's interactions with Colin, how he gained their trust, acted as a perfect gentlemen, even suggested that they slow down at points.  I think what threw me is that the voices of the characters and the dialogue did not quite seem to match that of a college-aged women.  The writing at the beginning seemed to be aimed more towards adult parents than college students. There was just something slightly off about it, like the fact that they were calling their down to earth resident advisor, 'Cool RA.' Or when Colin was described as "...a thief in the night, a modern-day cat burglar pursuing jewels of a different sort.." Something about the language just threw me.  After the assaults, when the women were dealing with the emotions of being raped and assaulted and trying to figure out how to band together and fight back, was when the intensity picked up for me.  It was great to see Colin sweat and the women gain strength instead of feeling like they had to hide their attack.  The most intriguing parts for me were the friendships gained, the support groups and the actual hearings for Colin's behavior.  The best advice comes in the epilogue as well, how to help someone who might be assaulted and how to help yourself.

This book was received in exchange for an honest review.

The Unbroken Heroes are back! Agent Dare Servant is aghast at this fellow Ops members settling down. He knows without doubt that the domestic life will never be for him - the thrill of the chase and the high of danger too strong to ever give up. But when a quirky and charming caterer ends up smack dab in the middle of a criminal mastermind's plot, Dare will uphold his honor and protect her. Even though she pushes all his buttons. Even though her beauty drives him to distraction. Even though he's in danger of losing his heart to her and hanging up his Shadow Ops life for good…

The newest Unbroken Hero novel is a rollercoaster ride of danger and emotional turbulence that holds readers in its grip from start to finish.

The hero and heroine of this book draw readers in and refuse to let go as they work through a relationship that highly impacted by some emotional turbulence that has readers emphasizing with the characters and determined to find out if they can ever work things out enough to discover that they just might have what it takes to have a happily ever after type of romance. Alpha male dominance clashes with fiery female passion with strong, sexy and sizzling attraction mixing things up for this couple which really has sparks flying in every direction.

Suspense builds throughout the steady to fast paced plot full of danger and thrills as Dare tries to keep his client alive even though she fights him every step of the way.  Lots of twists and turns keep readers glued to the pages as bad guys and bosses slip unexpected surprises in the couple’s path which makes things very interesting as readers have to wonder what will happen next.

I was quite taken with Dare from the very first, but I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this book. I have read the other Unbroken Hero novels though and I knew that Dawn Ryder wouldn’t disappoint me and sure enough, after I got past the first couple of chapters, I was totally captivated by the story, I still don’t know what happened at first that was keeping from getting in to the story so I hope no one else has this problem but if you do be sure and keep trying because this book will take you Close To The Edge and have you wanting more.
