quote 2017-04-23 20:00
And it sounds so easy in the stories, even when it’s not. Even when there are millions of obstacles, heroes know exactly what to do. There is always a way out. But the problem with real life is, there is not. And storytellers, you know what their problem is? There are millions of worlds in their heads. They know magic, and love, and hatred, and they have a metaphor for every feeling you can imagine. As tellers, they are fantastic. But when they become characters, it changes completely.

Why censor when you can segregate?

...we think you'll find it [Author Q&A] interesting too! If not, perhaps unfollowing [authors] is a good option.

—goodreads staff response to members complaining Author Q&A hijacked the feed completely.

Mind  boggling to me how if it's this bad with just the initial rollout to 54 professionally behaved authors what it will be when available to all goodreads authors.

I'm seriously wondering if authors even know that each question makes a separate post. I mean, if they did, I think they'd collect questions and answer them all in one blog/status post on goodreads Instead of posting fifty times to their followers' feeds.  (Not like they'd write even a handful of blog posts every few minutes to bury your feed knowing how quickly people would unfollow.)

Plus, in addition to followed/fanned authors posting out each Q&A individually, you get to see when any followed readers like the things so they get repeated ...

...If the only way that this 'feature" will not reload the books that I do not want to add to goodreads is by adding those books to goodreads, than there is no choice is there?...

From a goodreads post about new "add your amazon books" feature (which is actually just in testing stage for feedback group members).  For full thread and this comment see https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1784558-add-your-amazon-books-live-for-feedback-group-members-us-canada-austr?comment=97892783&page=3#comment_9789278

(Personally I pull in amazon books two ways -- put books on an amazon wishlist and use that url to import via goodreads MyBooks>Import or pull amazon purchases into Shelfari, export to csv file, then import csv file to goodreads.)

The Barbed Crown: An Ethan Gage Adventure (Ethan Gage Adventures) - William Dietrich
Sinful Folk - Nikki McClure,Ned Hayes
'Sinful Folk' is a beautiful and bleak tale - a murder mystery and a journey of personal revelation - of English commoners making an unimaginable journey of two hundred miles to seek justice and answers. Ned Hayes takes the reader on a time machine trip to the harsh and hopeful life that ordinary people really lived.

Great endorsement in email today for my novel Sinful Folk by New York Times best-selling historical author of the Ethan Gage series -- William Dietrich
