Release Day Review! Kelley (Were Zoo #6) R.E. Butler!
Kelley - R.E. Butler

Kelley London has been taking care of the non-shifting animals at the Amazing Adventures Safari Park since he was a teenager. As an elephant shifter, he has a unique take on what it means to be an animal in the zoo, gawked at by humans, and he does his best to make sure that the animals are happy and well taken care of. He’s not sure that the VIP tours are going to bring his soulmate to him, but he’s hopeful that someday he’ll find the one female meant to be his.

Rhapsody Caine is the last surviving member of her panther shifter pride. Before her aunt passed away, she told Rhapsody about a shifter zoo in New Jersey, and urged her to find other shifters to live with. She’d never been around other types of shifters, and was wary of just waltzing in the front gates and announcing herself to the zoo’s inhabitants, so she signed up for a VIP tour of the safari. What she didn’t expect was to be staring at her soulmate through a chain link fence, or for him to be an elephant.

Rhapsody breaks all the rules and climbs the fence during the tour to be with Kelley, but the big male doesn’t care that she’s impetuous. The only thing he cares about is that she’s the new center of his universe, and because she’s all alone in the world, he wants to become her family. When a panther male shows up at the zoo claiming to be Rhapsody’s arranged mate, Kelley is willing to do anything to keep Rhapsody safe and keep her with him forever.

Oh my gosh! I just returned from my latest visit to the Were Zoo and I have to tell you that it was an exhilarating visit.  As always the strong, charming characters that make the adventure park their home made sure I had a wonderful experience. On this visit, I got to spend time with elephant shifter, Kelley London, but I wasn’t alone with him for very long because we were soon joined by panther shifter, Rhapsody Caine and let me tell you this feisty shifter knows how to make an entrance and their mating was sweet and super exciting and hot enough to make a volcano erupt. I could feel the chemistry sizzling between these two from every page and this couple never let me have a dull moment as they kept anticipation building throughout the story and well they had a bit of trouble come calling on them as well which was quite thrilling and had me hanging on to the edge of my seat.

I must tell you, that with every visit I make to the Were Zoo, the more I love it and the more I fall for the wonderful shifters who run it. The world is so very fascinating, and has unique elements that make it the perfect place to find shifters, which really just adds a bit flair and depth to the stories and makes it seem so very possible. This visit was my longest visit and I couldn’t be happier that not only did I get to stay awhile but I got to visit a circus and meet more fascinating shifters! I can’t wait to find out what R.E. Butler has in store for my next visit to the adventure park – I wonder who will find their soulmate next?

Reviews! Win, Justus & Devlin (Were Zoo #3, 4, & 5) R.E. Butler!

The following is for the 3rd through the 5th books in R.E. Butler’s Were Zoo series – Win, Justus & Devlin.

First Up -

*** WIN ***

Gorilla shifter, Win Carlson, would love to find his soulmate, the one female on Earth perfect for him. Thanks to the VIP Tour tickets that the Amazing Adventures Safari Park sent out to eligible females in the area, he is seeing a lot of females on the weekends. But none of them are his soulmate, and he’s finding it hard not to get discouraged.

Curvy baker, Alexandra Flynn, has won awards for her banana cream pie, but her dream is to have her own bakery. Nothing would make her happier than having a place to call her own, except maybe finding a man to spend the rest of her life with. After winning first place for dessert at the county fair, her car breaks down and she’s stranded on the side of the road. To her surprise, a big, sexy guy stops and offers to repair her car. Unwilling to let their night be over before it even starts, she invites him back to her home, hoping to spend time with him.

When Win is awoken the next morning to Lexy’s panicked screams, he realizes that she’s seeing him in his shifted form. When he shifts to human and convinces her to give him a chance, he takes her home to the zoo and shares everything with her. Lexy never believed in love at first sight until she laid eyes on the sexy mechanic, and she can’t imagine ever leaving his side, even though it means giving up her plans for the future. Win won’t let Lexy’s dreams die just because she’s his soulmate, and he plans to make sure that their life together is just as sweet as her delicious banana cream pie.

Win is the 3rd book in the Were Zoo series and is available in ebook at:

~ My Review ~

I just couldn’t stay away from the Amazing Adventures Safari Park and this time I had a wonderful time visiting gorilla shifter Win Carlson and guess what, this is so exciting… Win found his soulmate. Their romance is so sweet but so very surprising as well because Win accidentally revealed himself at an inopportune time. So my visit this time had me biting my nails is suspense as I waited for Amanda to overcome her fears and denials and make the best decision of life.

I loved getting to know Win and Amanda even though I didn’t get to stay for very long, but of course that just means that I get to prepare for another visit to the Were Zoo.

Next up –

***JUSTUS***

When Trina Potter arrives at the Amazing Adventures Safari Park to apply for a job at her cousin’s sweets shop, she doesn’t expect to meet the man of her dreams at the front gate, or that his kisses would drive her senseless.

Bear shifter Justus Dorne would love to meet his soulmate. The weekly park VIP tours so far have netted him zero meetings with the one female meant to be his. He doesn’t want to be discouraged, but seeing his friends find their soulmates is making him long for a female of his own. When he volunteers to escort a human to the park’s new sweets shop, he doesn’t expect to fall head over heels for the feisty brunette.

It’s no simple thing to find a soulmate who’s human. Shifters aren’t known to humans, and one careless whisper of their nature out in the human world could spell disaster for the entire shifter race. Justus doesn’t want to keep anything from his soulmate, but he’s not sure how to tell her the truth of what he is without losing her. When she comes face to face with his bear, will she stay or will she run?

Justus is the 4th book in the Were Zoo series and is available in ebook at:

~ My Review ~

Guess what? When I took my lunch break today, I decided it was time for another fantastic visit to the Were Zoo and all the fascinating shifters that live there.  Have I told you how much I love all the strong, compelling and charming characters that make their home there? Well I do, so far every visit has been wonderful and filled with some sweet romance, sizzling chemistry and red hot passion. On this trip, I get to meet Justus who is a bear shifter and I just loved the thrilling experience of being at the part when he met and started romancing Amanda’s cousin, Trina. There was no denying that Justus was the man of her dreams and both Trina and Justus held me hostage throughout the story as they tried to come with secrets and big changes I their lives.

I really hated having to leave, but my lunch break was over which made me a bit sad but then I perked right up because I can return whenever I want!!!

Last, but not least –

***DEVLIN***

Lion shifter Jenni Brisban, is beginning to think that the VIP tours hosted by the Amazing Adventures Safari Park aren’t going to help her find her soulmate. Hardly any human males come on the tour, and she spends her weekends in her shift, feeling like her life is passing before her eyes. When she’s offered a job in the new sweets shop at the park, she decides taking a break from the tour isn’t a bad idea. Standing behind the counter, talking to customers, and sneaking candy made by the resident baker, Lexy, is just what Jenni needs to get her mind off her singleness.

Human Devlin Potter is poised to get a promotion at work that will change his life dramatically. Finally, all his hard work will be worth it. The job he wants is just within reach, and his five-year plan is right on track. But when he sees a beautiful blonde woman at his cousin’s sweets shop, everything he ever thought he wanted disappears in a hot flash. Now, he only wants Jenni.

Nothing is hotter to Devlin than being with Jenni, but he can tell she’s holding something back. When he comes to the zoo to see her, but finds himself at the lion paddock, staring into a lioness’s eyes that are the same pretty gold as Jenni’s, he knows exactly what her secret is, even though it seems impossible. Devlin has a choice to make: give up everything to live with Jenni at the zoo, or walk away forever. She can’t live in his world, but can he live in hers?

Devlin is the 5th book in the Were Zoo series and is available in ebook at:

~ My Review ~

Boy did I get surprise on my latest visit to the Were Zoo! On my way in I met this sexy human male named Devlin and this visit just got better from there. This strong, charming male met the very strong and delightful lion shifter, Jenni and the sparks started flying and the chemistry started sizzling with just one glance across a crowded room. What more can ask you for on any visit anywhere, than wonderfully sweet romances with touches of suspense and drama that gets the ‘happy feel good’ juices flowing and these two made things even more exciting when they made a bit of trouble for themselves (sorry you’ll have to make a visit on your own, if you want to know more).

You know, one of these I just might get to stay longer when I visit this fascinating place that is really a remarkable, unique and fun place for shifters to live and thrive. So, I’m off to plan my next visit, hope to see you there!

Stormy gave all three delightful stories –

Check it out! I will definitely be visiting the Were Zoo again very soon!

Review! Jupiter (Were Zoo #2) R.E. Butler!
Jupiter - R.E. Butler

Second-in-command lion shifter Jupiter Ross has a lot on his plate. As the head of security for Amazing Adventures Safari Park, he has to ensure the safety of not only the humans who come through the gates every day, but the natural animals, and most importantly, the shifters who live and work in secret at the park. The alphas have recently determined that bringing in unmated humans for VIP park tours would allow some of the males and females to find their soulmates, and that increased Jupiter’s duties tenfold. As an unmated male, he’d like to find his soulmate and settle down, but he’s not sure that random human females coming in for free tours is the way to go.

When Celeste Patterson receives an invitation for a free tour of the safari park, she and her best friend, Adriana, can’t wait to go. Even though they’re separated and unable to take the tour together, Celeste can’t help but think that a wonderful adventure is just around the corner. Jupiter is amazed to discover that his soulmate is in fact one of the recipients of a VIP tour invitation. The feisty female is everything he could have ever wanted in a mate, from her gorgeous curves to her mile-wide attitude.

Get your ticket and get in line for the Amazing Adventure Safari Park VIP Tour. You just might be lucky enough to find your happily ever after.

I’m excited to say that I got my ticket and got to go to the Amazing Adventure Safari Park and while I didn’t find my happily ever after, I sure enjoyed meeting all the wonderful shifters and the exciting sights.

And I also have to say that Jupiter and Celeste certainly livened up my tour with their sizzling chemistry and sweet romance as they got their happily ever after. These strong, compelling characters are vibrant and fit right in at the Park.

I only got to visit the Park for a short time, but it was definitely an enjoyable trip that I fit perfectly into my lunch break and I am saving up tickets so that I may visit often and meet more of R.E. Butler’s fascinating characters in their own habitat.

Jupiter is the 2nd the book in the Were Zoo series.

Save the mountain gorillas
Gorillas in the Mist - Dian Fossey

Much like when I reviewed Jane Goodall's In the Shadow of Man, I quickly fell in love with the gorillas that Dian Fossey describes in exquisite detail in her book Gorillas in the Mist. (You may have heard of it.) Dr. Fossey moved to the Virungas of Africa (Zaire, Uganda, and Rwanda) to study the mountain gorillas that lived there. That study ended up taking nearly 20 years. However, she wasn't only studying the habits of the gorillas but also the parasites, environment (rainfall), vegetation, and the other animals that lived there (elephants, buffalo, duiker). (Basically, whatever she and her team could study they did to increase their chances of getting more grant money and lengthening their stay.) One of the things that Fossey stressed was that it would take more than passive conservation (tourism) to keep the mountain gorillas alive and thriving. She found that active conservation was the only way to go which meant that she had to employ staff to track down poacher's lairs and destroy their supplies and traps. Basically, she was a bada$$ of the highest caliber and the surrounding villagers had a nickname for her (it wasn't sweet lady of the mountain either). She quickly earned a reputation for not backing down and for doing everything within her power to protect these creatures from imminent extinction (which is looking more and more likely). Between poachers, population encroachment, and decreasing territory for the different gorilla groups there were only 242 mountain gorillas left at the end of her nearly two decade study. There are even less now. Fossey's fervent desire was that governments and the people governed by them would want to conserve these animals because they lived in the area providing the only fresh water source for the region. However, deforestation to make way for increasing numbers of people and farms continued no matter what arguments she put forth. I had heard about this book and its movie adaptation before but it wasn't until I saw Ellen DeGeneres talking about it (on her birthday episode) that I decided to finally pick up the book. I am so glad that I did. Even if you only read the appendices (which are absolutely phenomenal) you'd learn so much about these amazing animals and the land they inhabit. You'd also bear witness to the dedication and passion which Fossey had for her research. I highly recommend you pick up a copy of Gorillas in the Mist and afterward that you do further research into Fossey because it makes it all the more poignant and meaningful (at least it did for me). 10/10

Good Morning, Gorilla
Good Morning, Gorillas - Mary Pope Osborne,Sal Murdocca

Any Magic Tree House book is always a hit with children. It was my favorite book as a kid. These are easy lesson books and even free read books. I would lov eto have this for the kids to choose to read. if we were to do a whole group it would be good tot teach on an ecosystem of a gorilla. This is on a 360L in the Lexile system.
