Hey, Kiddo
Hey, Kiddo - Jarrett Krosoczka

I purposely chose this memoir for the end of my challenge because I've wanted to read it since before it was released. After I finally bought my own, beautiful copy, that cover called to me like a present just waiting to be opened. It is truly amazing. This is a YA book, but I would say that doesn't matter if you think you're too old to read it— and, it's a must read even if you've never read a graphic novel (memoir) before. In fact, I would say that if you haven't read one, this would be the perfect place to start. I am working on pronouncing Krosoczka so that I can tell people about his remarkable achievement, a story at turns heartwarming and heartbreaking. The art is magnificent and inspiring, with so much revealed in the simplest gestures. I wanted to see how everything turned out, but I didn't want it to end. If you really want to have a good cry fest, you can read David Small's own graphic memoir Stitches as a companion to this. Astonishingly, both artists overcame devastating childhoods and persevered to achieve great things. Look at that kid on the cover, he's begging for your attention. Go give him some.

Book Review : Harry potter and the half blood prince J.K Rowling
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - J.K. Rowling,Kazu Kibuishi,Mary GrandPré

The war against Voldemort is not going well; even Muggle governments are noticing. Ron scans the obituary pages of the Daily Prophet, looking for familiar names. Dumbledore is absent from Hogwarts for long stretches of time, and the Order of the Phoenix has already suffered losses.
And yet…

As in all wars, life goes on. Sixth-year students learn to Apparate — and lose a few eyebrows in the process. The Weasley twins expand their business. Teenagers flirt and fight and fall in love. Classes are never straightforward, though Harry receives some extraordinary help from the mysterious Half-Blood Prince.

So it’s the home front that takes center stage in the multilayered sixth installment of the story of Harry Potter. Here at Hogwarts, Harry will search for the full and complex story of the boy who became Lord Voldemort — and thereby find what may be his only vulnerability.

Review : I freaking loved this book I cried and laughed so the war on voldemort is going on Dumbledore picks up harry at his house and ends up talking to the dursly's which was hilarious I love Dumbledore . Harry and Dumbledore visit this old professor to convince him to teach back at Hogwarts and Harry does . Dumbledore ends up teaching a lot to harry during this year he ends up showing Harry a lot of memories of people dealing with voldemort . Harry thinks Draco is up to something . Snape makes the unbreakable vow to help Draco . While taking potions Harry finds this potion book in class with notes from the Half blood prince that help him in class . Harry and Dumbledore are trying to get this memory from slughorn so harry uses felix felicis to help him get the memory and he gets it and goes to dumbledore . Ron ends up starting dating this girl named Lavender, Herminne is jealous like ugh just be together already and Harry is starting to have feelings for Ginny . Ron eats these chocolates filled with love potion from a girl who sent them to Harry . So Harry goes to slughorn to have him help and they have a glass of meed to celebrate ron's birthday but it was poisoned but Ron was okay . griffindore wins there last quiditch match and Harry kisses Ginny . Dumbledore asks harry to help him find this horcrux and they get it and Dumbledore has to drink this stuff which is pretty much poison and he's loosing his mind and they get back and Draco is there planning to kill Dumbledore but snape kills him and I was sobbing and angry ugh I hate snape .

Quotes :

Do you remember me telling you we are practicing non-verbal spells, Potter?"
"Yes," said Harry stiffly.
"Yes, sir."
"There's no need to call me "sir" Professor."
The words had escaped him before he knew what he was saying.”

You'd think people had better things to gossip about," said Ginny as she sat on the common room floor, leaning against Harry’s legs and reading the Daily Prophet. "Three Dementor attacks in a week, and all Romilda Vane does is ask me if it’s true you’ve got a Hippogriff tattooed across your chest."
Ron and Hermione both roared with laughter. Harry ignored them.
What did you tell her?"
I told her it's a Hungarian Horntail," said Ginny, turning a page of the newspaper idly. "Much more macho."
Thanks," said Harry, grinning. "And what did you tell her Ron’s got?"
A Pygmy Puff, but I didn’t say where.”

Sometimes you remind me a lot of James. He called it my 'furry little problem' in company. Many people were under the impression that I owned a badly behaved rabbit.

What do I care how 'e looks? I am good-looking enough for both of us, I theenk! All these scars show is zat my husband is brave!”

Us Against You
Us Against You - Fredrik Backman

If you told me I would be crying while driving and listening to a book about hockey, I might not have believed you... but this is the second book from Backman about Beartown, and, honestly, though I am not a fan of series, I could listen to even more. I love these characters, the old and the new, because Backman has an extraordinary talent for making you care about every single one of them.

ps—I don't want to be a spoiler, but I had questions about Benji, and I am hoping now that there's a #3, and that those people who read the first one carefully are wrong...

pps—This is not as long a read as it looks by my dates, I was listening to another library book when I got this audio book, and so my time ran out before I finished. Had to get back on the very long hold line.

Book Review : wotakoi vol 3
wotakoi love is hard for otaku 3 - Maki Fujita

 Nov 27-29

A tall, quiet gamer boy and a geeky girl whose life revolves around yaoi manga are old friends, but when they start working in the same office, they decide to date. It's a relationship of convenience at first, but could it become something more? This manga comedy is now a hit streaming anime!

Extra-long book includes 2 Japanese volumes!

Narumi and Hirotaka are, by all appearances, a power couple. They're young, good-looking professionals. But they have secrets from everyone but each other: They're serious geeks! Narumi is a fujoshi, and Hirotaka's a hardcore gamer. Their sweet, awkward love story started life as a webcomic before becoming a full-blown manga series by popular demand, and is about to become a major anime series!

Review : Loved this volume so cute this is one of my favorite manga series . ugh the cliffhanger from the last vol with Ko and Naoya that Ko is a girl but they end up talking it out and still hang out Nayoa is so adorable I ship them . Narumi finally cosplays . they all go on a work trip Kabakura ends up getting put in charge of that . I can't wait for the next volume . I love Narumi and Hirotaka's relationship so cute .

Book Review : Merry and Bright Debbie Macomber
Merry and Bright: A Novel - Debbie Macomber

Merry Knight is pretty busy these days. She’s taking care of her family, baking cookies, decorating for the holidays, and hoping to stay out of the crosshairs of her stressed and by-the-book boss at the consulting firm where she temps. Her own social life is the last thing she has in mind, much less a man. Without her knowledge, Merry’s well-meaning mom and brother create an online dating profile for her—minus her photo—and the matches start rolling in. Initially, Merry is incredulous, but she reluctantly decides to give it a whirl.

Soon Merry finds herself chatting with a charming stranger, a man with similar interests and an unmistakably kind soul. Their online exchanges become the brightest part of her day. But meeting face-to-face is altogether different, and her special friend is the last person Merry expects—or desires. Still, sometimes hearts can see what our eyes cannot. In this satisfying seasonal tale, unanticipated love is only a click away.

Jason started having feelings for one of his temps Mary who is actually Merry and he ends up kissing her when they go out to dinner together . Merry decides to finally meet Jay so at the christmas party she talks to Jason tries to give him hints it's her but he sees a woman with a dress he thinks is Mary and Merry leaves but Jason catches up to her and tells her he thought he was messing with him but she wasn't so she goes home . Merry's brother messages Jay and tells him to come to there house . Merry and Jason talk and kiss it was such a cute story.

Quotes :

Have you ever noticed?, He asked suppressing a smile , how the reflection shows in the smooth surface of the elevator door ?

What an odd question.
Not really.
His mouth quirked again .
What makes you ask ? As soon as she phrased the question ,Merry knew the answer.
If you're going to make faces at me behind my back, Mary , you might want to make certain that your reflection doesn't show on the doors.

I kissed her.”
His words were met with silence and then, “How was it?”
“On a scale of one to ten, it was about a hundred.

“Merry Christmas. His would be without the Merry for sure.”
