This is the home he never expected…
With a terrifying ordeal behind him, former navy SEAL Jubal Pierce was supposed to stay in Covenant Falls, Colorado, for only a day or two. That's it. He's not prepared to put down roots here—no matter how intriguing the town's new doctor happens to be. Not to mention Dr. Lisa Redding's teen brother is on a troubled path that's all too familiar. Suddenly Jubal finds himself entangled in the community and with deep, unfamiliar feelings for Lisa. But maybe a little detour is just what a warrior needs to find his true purpose…and true love.

GoodreadsAmazonBarnes & NobleHarlequin

This is was and enjoyable light read. The story was about healing for both a Seal and a families loss.I found the characters to be like-able and love-able as well as interesting.

I normally pick a favorite character in a story and mine would be Jubal. For one I liked that he had an interesting name. One of the things I loved most about him was his kindness and understanding toward Gordon.I loved how he handled Gordon. He saw that Gordon was on a dangerous path where he used to be an decided to take action to turn this troubled kid around.I loved how he dealt punishment without angry words and being physical.I felt for Jubal as he was in pain and suffering from loss and nightmares that he suffered from in the war.You really felt his pain. His suffering definitely tugged at the readers heart strings I loved his interaction with his friends and fellow seals.I enjoyed seeing him make new friends and open his heart to another. He was healing slowly by making friends and falling in love making a new life for himself without even realizing it.I love seeing him be happy after so much suffering.

Dr. Lisa Redding family was suffering from loss. Her brother is out of control and needs more then she can currently give him.She makes a decision to uproot her family a move to Convenant Falls to be able to give more attention to her families current needs.I loved that Lisa put her family first instead of her career.I loved how she was patient and kind.I loved the sacrifices she was willing to make for her brother and sister.Lisa showed us just how strong she was.She impressed me greatly.

Some say Covenant Falls is full of magic.A small town is full of ex military men who found love and healing.Lisa on the other hand thinks that this place is just temporary for her and her families needs.I enjoyed reading about the characters that filled this interesting town. They were love-able as well as like-able and we enjoyed reading about them. The town occupants were full of kindness and loyalty toward those they cared about.I loved that about them.

Lisa and Jubal meet and have a instant connection as well as attraction.I enjoyed seeing this couple fall in love even though neither was looking for it or expecting it.I felt for this couple as the both fought their feelings knowing that nothing would come of their relationship. Both plan to move on and Jubal he only plans to be in town for a week which turns out to be longer than he planned. Jubal keeps setting down roots without even realizing what he is doing.I loved his reaction once he realizes what is happening to him and same goes for Lisa. Neither of them realizing they were putting roots down and embroiling themselves in town life and long as its residents.Creating strong bonds...

I enjoyed how this author incorporated horses into it's story . Making Jubal care about these animals definitely helped with  his healing process as well as Gordon's.I enjoyed being along the healing process for both Gordon and Jubal.I enjoyed seeing them be happy again as well as form an unlikely friendship between those two men.Even though this story is about Lisa and Jubal falling in love a big part of this story was about Gordon getting through his rough patch.I was rooting for him to find some happiness .I was rooting for Jubal and Lisa's happy ever after from page one especially when you saw their relationship was doomed from the onset.I loved Jubal and Lisa's interactions with one another they were truly sweet moments and quite endearing really.

I enticing read about loss and heartache.I loved the small town feel of the story.I would however have liked more character interaction with both Jubal and Lisa and their relationship.I really enjoyed this story especially about a wounded hero who put his own suffering aside to help another. How could you not fall in love with a fellow like that?It really reminds you there is Hope and Joy for all of us within our reach. An enjoyable story about love and sacrifice that tugged at the readers emotions.I look forward to picking up others stories in this Covenant Falls series. We throughly enjoyed this story.

We are giving it 4 stars.

Be my home
SEAL My Home: Bad Boys of SEAL Team 3 - Sharon Hamilton

Rory Kennedy is a SEAL and a mutual friend of those who care about Meagan Palmer.  They are instantly attacted to one another.  She is afraid of how she feel since she has been hurt by a man who cheated on her in the past.  A man who cannot take no for an answer.

This story is very intense.  We hear the terrorist thoughts as well as the hero.  It gets more complicated because everyone thinks Meagan is not in danger.  She is left out on her own while the other families are moved as the danger builds.

Rory is not sure he can see a future with anyone.  He knows he loves her and she has said she loves him too.  Is that enough?  They both are gun shy and then tragedy strikes.  Can they save the innocent lives that are at stake?

This book is narrated by J.D. Hart. I have listened to books he has narrated before.  I find his smooth, clear voice makes the book even better. You can hear the emotions and the inflections as he is reading the book.I like that this enhanced the story and made me want to add the audio files for more of my books.

Really great story just full of suspense! I happily recommend this book and its series. Just will tell you if you already love military romances, or this series - it is well worth it. There is nothing like having the sound of a great voice read you a sexy book! Warning: Due to language I recommend for readers over 18+ only. I give this audiobook version a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

SEAL My Home: Bad Boys of SEAL Team 3 - Sharon Hamilton

SEAL My Home

by Sharon Hamilton
Blurb:
Bad boy Rory Kennedy was raised in foster care, bouncing in and out of trouble along the way. He finds his true family and real brothers as a Navy SEAL, one of the Navy’s elite warriors. When his BUD/S instructor barked the SEAL’s Motto: Only Easy Day Was Yesterday, he knew he had found home.

Megan Palmer works in a bookstore and finds her passion in life through reading steamy romance novels. Her brief affair with a man she later found out was married has left her damaged, until she meets the handsome SEAL, who stands ready to open her world and give her things she’s only dreamed.

On a skiing trip, Rory suffers a possible career-ending injury and also comes face to face with a past he never knew of, and a family who had abandoned him. His relationship with Megan is tested to the breaking point as Rory wades through the dark waters of recovery and whether or not he can live without the life he loves. A home-grown terrorist cell forces his hand and he discovers his true purpose.

Excerpt

Whatever she’d bottled up had come loose. Her appetite met her need, which should have scared him. But for the first time, he wanted her to need him. He could fill he up. She was starving for it.

And so was he.

She was sleeping, and he fell into her rhythm, inhaling when she did, exhaling also in tandem, feeling her soft sex crowning his thigh. He thought of all the lovely things he wanted to say to her, but knew he shouldn’t. He knew the speaking part would mess up what he now felt, something he rarely felt.

Happiness.

He tried to breathe without making a sound, hoping that this time together, which was as precious to him as the love making part, was prolonged for as long as possible. She was fire and ice. The salt and the caramel. She tucked inside the hard exterior of his soul and shivered, rested there under his protection.

He must have twitched or done something, because she startled and rose up quickly, rolling to the side and covering herself up. He could almost feel her heavy thoughts tossing about the room as he viewed her light pink spine glowing in the near moonlight as she sat on the edge of the bed away from him. An inch of her butt crack was in shadow, but the alabaster surface of her skin was flawless and made her look like a statue.

He inhaled without a sound, and let his index finger trace down the middle of her back, traveling over the ridges of her vertebra. She stiffened at first, then rolled her head to the side and killed him with the blue gaze that showed him she was still hungry.

“Come here, Megan,” he said, worried he’d been a little too loud.

She touched her shoulder with her ear in a shy move that belied her real feelings for him. He could see it in the coral shaded corners of her lips, how they quirked up at the ends.
Seal My Home is my second read from this author and to be honest, I was a bit skeptical about reading this installment in the seal brotherhood series. My skepticism stemmed from the fact that my first encounter with the author’s work did not live up to my expectations. Needless to say I decided to give it a try.

Now that I have completed the story writing the review was not as easy as I hoped it would be. It’s not that I didn’t like the story. I did like it, but it did not bowl me over. This is a romantic suspense story, as such  I was expecting a nail biting, action packed and an edge of your seat read.

Seal My Home is the story of Rory Kennedy and Megan Palmer. Rory is a navy seal and Megan works in a book store.  Rory had a very rough life growing up. He never knew what family was about until he joined the navy seals.  Megan had lost her family during 9/11.  From the moment Rory laid eyes on Megan he knew he wanted to be with her. Megan is attracted to him, but is a bit wary as she had been burned by a previous relationship. The chemistry between them was burning hot.

The concept of the story was good; however, I felt that the author could have provided more details on the main characters. This would have allowed me to better connect with them.  The pacing of the story was slow. The pace did not increase until about seventy percent (70%) of the book. Due to this it took me some time to get through the story.

This was not a bad story and there are a few persons out there who enjoyed it. As such, it is likely that you may enjoy it too.

SEAL My Home: Bad Boys of SEAL Team 3 - Sharon Hamilton
Rory and Megan start out pretty hot and despite a few setbacks, they burn up the pages when they get together. Their relationship progressed very quickly even though they don't actually see each other that much. Megan really surprised me with they way she handled herself towards the end of the book, I didn't think she had it in her. I love the camaraderie between the SEALs and the way they had Rory's back when he needed them, even if it meant going against orders.  I totally did not expect the twist with his relationship with one of the other characters.

Chris Cruse and Associates Real Estate: To seal home deal, try writing to the seller

If you really want that house, grab a pen and start pouring your heart out to the seller.

And, above all, don’t forget to gush. Shed that New England reserve and let it all tumble out about how you will cherish the seller’s house long after they have moved on to that retirement community in Arizona.

Apparently, your closing argument should paint an idyllic vision of you and your family sitting by the fire in the seller’s house, forever grateful to the generous, wise, and bountiful sellers who gave you the keys to this paradise.

Don’t forget the cute photos of kids and pets as well, preferably your own, but really any will do.

Says Trulia: This should be the emotional punch line statement that bonds the seller to the buyer so much that they yell out — “I like these buyers and want them to live in my home!”

Wow, now that’s a letter!

OK, I am only half serious here. Still gushing seems to be a prerequisite if you want to write one of these letters, at least based on the advice being doled out on the many real estate websites out there.

Nearly 30 percent of all winning bids by Boston-area buyers included a “cover letter” or personal appeal to the seller, according to Redfin’s latest report on bidding wars in various metro markets across the country.

That’s down somewhat from the height of the spring market, when 41 percent of all winning buyers penned personal appeals.

If you have a bad case of writer’s block, no worries. There is a whole cottage industry out there online, offering advice on what to write and how to write it, as well as sample letters.

Above all, don’t be shy. Says Trulia:

Pepper it with personality: Express your true inner feelings, emotions and excitement. Your sincerity and authenticity will shine through. After all, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Pending sales hit new highs

Massachusetts pending home sales hit record highs this fall, recent data show.

The number of single-family homes put under agreement in September and October was the highest on record since the Massachusetts Association of Realtors began tracking the numbers in 2004.

Pending home sales across Massachusetts rose 17 percent, to 4,793, this October compared with last year. September sales were also up 16.2 percent year over year, to 4,297.

Prices also rose — by double digits yet again.

They were up 12.3 percent in October, to $320,000, compared with October 2012, the Massachusetts Association of Realtors reports.

By comparison, back during the bubble years, there were 4,048 pending home sales in October and 3,959 in September, according to Multiple Listing Service numbers collected by the organization.

The October numbers were particularly telling, coming smack dab in the middle of the government shutdown and fears that Congress might send the country barreling over the fiscal cliff.

Looks like most buyers here simply shrugged this nonsense off.

After all, pending sales are the freshest indicator of market activity, based on purchase and sales agreements just inked, but which won’t actually close and become official sales for another couple months.

It was much the same story with pending condo sales as well, which were up 22 percent over last year, to 1,853 in October.

Of course, the grumpy housing bears out there will read this as some sort of cheer for the real estate industry.

Learn to read more closely then, for the numbers, if anything, are a warning sign that whatever fleeting affordability the downturn created in the Greater Boston real estate market is fading fast.

The real issue now is not whether there is some big cool-down lurking around the corner. Rather, the real issue is what buyers are increasingly struggling with across Greater Boston, frankly the state as well. And that’s how to afford to buy a half decent home in the one of the most expensive housing markets in the country.
