@ droonfang: Sorry for trouble. The sorting on your Shelf should be fixed now. If you notice something disturbing, please let us know.
When it comes to tags, as we mentioned in previous post (#369) we're working on better solutions for tags and adding new pages in order to make adding new pages and tags more comfy to apply.
Sometimes there is more than one edition/book cover per isbn so that's why covers don't always match when searching via isbn. On GoodReads in these cases alternate cover editions are created.
You can easily create a new book by typing gibberish into the search and it i will say no results found and give a link to add a new book.
I'm pretty picky about my covers so I've added several new books for this reason.
Yes that would be nice to be able to just add our own covers like we can on Shelfari and on LibraryThing without having to create a whole new addition. At least adding a new book on here is easier and less time consuming than it is on GR and LM.
As for accuracy regarding the ISBN, I personally could care less about that. The only things that are really important to me are the Title, the Author, and the cover so I don't mind adding new books in order to get the cover I want.
I'm sure the ability to just add a new cover is something that will be addressed whenever that new book database gets put in.
Edit: I just thought of another reason why it would be really nice to have an add cover feature. As I've said, I'm really picky about my book covers and sometimes I find a cover I like better than the one I originally chose. If I want to change it I have to remove the book and then add it again with the cover I want. This isn't a huge deal with books that are just on my to read list(as all of them have been so far, though it does mess up my date added order), but it would be a big pain in the ass if I had to do it with books I've already read and have to redo all the shelves and change the book the review is associated with and stuff. Even just a "switch edition" option would be nice.
I'd really like a way to view all editions of a book in the database, adding another edition when you've got a reread to shelve would be a lot easier if you didn't have to keep adding keywords till you get another edition that is acceptable. Actually I'd like to have that feature anyway for general use, search by title, then expand a result for all editions of the selected book, so you can choose the one with the best quality information.
Aerulan wouldn't you rather just have the option to add re-read dates than having to add another edition for re-reads?
I agree that I'd like that feature for general use too, but BookLikes doesn't really have an actual database right now. They are working on building one, but no one knows how long it will take for them to finish that. The multiple read dates thing is also on their to do list, but again, no idea how long we will have to wait for that. *crosses fingers for tomorrow's update*

@droonfang: For the time being you can add missing book covers (books with green covers). The cover change option, as well as all title's editions will be added with new book data base.
You know what I just realised I would like? In the "Book I'm Reading Now" widget, I would like the selection to include X out of Y Chapters, as well as page count or % count.
I'm not entirely sure if I'd use the chapter thing, but it sounds like a neat option and I'll second it.

*LOL* The thing is, my main reading app makes it difficult to find either the page count or the %, and if I I'm reading a volume from a boxed set or an omnibus, when I DO find these counts, it's for ALL the books in the set/omnibus, not just the one I'm reading. But... the chapters are always there for the single volume.
What app do you use that has trouble with both pages and the %? I use Moon Reader Pro and it's not really that great for pages most of the time but I'm fine with %.
I can see how it would be helpful omnibus books though. I only have one omnibus ebook in my to read list that I added the individual books separately for tracking and then added the omnibus book to my "for display" shelf, but now I realize it's going to be hard to track the separate books if using an omnibus ebook so I strongly support this option now. Without a chapter option you'd have to do some crazy math thing to try to figure out what percentage of the omnibus each individual book is and then add the percentage of that individual book or something.
Dammit, even if Booklikes does add a chapter option I'm probably going to have to figure this out on all the book sites I use that have this option. LeafMarks and Literally are still very new so they might be open to this suggestion, but I wouldn't count on GoodReads making it a priority. None of the other sites I use have progress update features at all so I don't need to worry about them. Maybe I just won't bother updating the progress for omnibus books at all unless a chapter option is put in. It would just be too much work and I don't have too many omnibus books right now anyway.
I don't bother much with Goodreads any longer to be quite honest. I post a link to my Thoughts posts here at Booklikes and that's it.
I use my Kobo app for the most part and while I do mostly love it, sometimes the app can be not so user friendly for the little details I like.
Well GoodReads is probably my least favorite site except for their discussion groups which I thing are very very well designed so that's a big reason why I stay there. There's also the fact that I'm insane and have started collecting book sites as well as books.
I'm not sure what FEAD and BAD mean, though I'm guessing BAD stands for Book Addiction Disorder?
Anyway I have no idea if I'm contagious, but if I am I suspect that others might be susceptible to the disorder if they are both anal about their books and have an addictive personality.
A couple of text post feature requests:
I'd like to bump the "making the 'edit post' textbox resizable" request from #271.
If that's not possible, could you please make the massive "need help" tab dismiss-able, or at least move it so that it doesn't block the text input box? Mostly, the help I really need while writing a review is the ability to see the text I'm writing.
A more meta-request: I love how responsive you are, and how agreeable to our suggestions you are. However, it's a little frustrating to wait and wonder if the feature will ever be implemented.
Could you give us an estimated ETA on the features when you respond to our requests? Or make some sort of request triage visible, e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bug_tracking_system, UserVoice, Bugzilla, etc?
Outside of the petty issue of resizable textboxes, the last ETA I heard for the book database was for sometime in December. What is the status of that?
