Beautiful Danger
Beautiful Danger (In the Company of Vampires #1) - Michele Hauf

Domingos, a vampire, is kidnapped and tortured by a werewolf pack. He vows revenge and is in the process of exacting it when he meets Lark. Lark is a vampire hunter, hired by the werewolf pack to track and kill Domingos.
Both have not-so-great backstories. I liked that both were vulnerable. Domingos hears music and difficulty seeing when exposed to UV light. I really didn't understand how the Order of the Stake (nice name, huh?) didn't have a problem killing vampires, but let the werewolf pack get away so much before doing anything about it.
Decent and different.

"Beautiful Assassin" by Stephanie Nicole Norris

My Thoughts...

What a good urban fiction read that was indeed well written by this author that will keep you turning the pages.  The story was about Celine and Brian as their love seems to grows for each other from their past. When it seemed like Brian wanting to give his 'Queen' all of it [even helping with the revenge] however, was there a hidden motive behind all of this for him?  One thing for sure that Celine had one thing on her mind and that was getting revenge for those who were involved in her husband's [Caleb's] death.  What will happen from the twist and turns and lies as they start coming out as Celine finds out just who was behind all of this?  As the story ends the reader will be left with a lots of questions that will definitely needs to be answered.  As we will be left wondering  a lot with a cliffhanger where you will have to pick up  'Beautiful Assassin Revelations Book 2' to see what else will come out from this  interesting story.

Its a good thing that I have a relatively unscheduled weekend coming up!  I've got a friend coming over to help me haul an old, old TV out of the house & off to recycling.  Then I've got to take a couple of boxes of books to the used book store.  Anything they don't want will go to the Calgary Reads book sale in May, to support literacy in the community.

Spring cleaning and spring reading.

The Beautiful Pretender by Melanie Dickerson $1.99
The Beautiful Pretender (A Medieval Fairy Tale) - Melanie Dickerson

After inheriting his title from his brother, the margrave has two weeks to find a noble bride. What will happen when he learns he has fallen for a lovely servant girl in disguise?

The Margrave of Thornbeck has to find a bride, fast. He invites ten noble born ladies who meet the king’s approval to be his guests at Thornbeck Castle for two weeks, a time to test these ladies and reveal their true character.

Avelina has only two instructions: keep her true identity a secret and make sure the margrave doesn’t select her as his bride. Since the latter seems unlikely, she concentrates on not getting caught. No one must know she is merely a maidservant, sent by the Earl of Plimmwald to stand in for his daughter, Dorothea.

Despite Avelina’s best attempts at diverting attention from herself, the margrave has taken notice. And try as she might, she can’t deny her own growing feelings. But something else is afoot in the castle. Something sinister that could have far worse—far deadlier—consequences
