The Black Widow: My web of secrets and the truth about my murder conviction - Linda Calvey

Linda’s biography - good girl, bad girl, good girl. Gritty and honest and a real eye opener, a view into the darker side of life with villains and gangsters, robberies and guns. She certainly lifts the lid of the more unsavoury underbelly of life! It was fascinating, disturbing and sad. I was riveted to this and couldn’t put it down. Well worth reading if you are interested in crime, the notorious characters from the 60’s and what it’s like to live through that era.

Black Widow, Vol. 3: Last Days - Nathan Edmondson,Phil Noto

Title: Black Widow Vol. 3: Last Days
Author: Nathan Edmondson
Series: Black Widow (2014), 3
Format: ebook
Length: N/A
Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis: The world has turned against Black Widow. Her web is broken. It's all been worth it, though, because the path to Chaos is finally at her feet. But can Natasha still turn to the Avengers or S.H.I.E.L.D.? And how far can she travel her brutal road to the answers she needs, while still calling herself a hero? As Chaos looms, an enemy resurfaces with a surprising agenda, and Natasha gets an offer she can't refuse. This is it: Black Widow goes head-to-head with Chaos at long last! Then, at the end of all things, Black Widow finds herself unexpectedly connected to one of the darkest moments of her past. See how the first lines of red in her ledger were written. Will Natasha fall into darkness? Is it too late for redemption?

Favourite character: Natasha
Least favourite character: the Chaos dude

Mini-review: Good. Again a bit confusing. I don't know where this timeline begins. It was interesting to see Nat's backstory including her first kill. I liked the ballet aspect. Villain was weird.

Review of The Black Widow by Daniel Silva
Black Widow - Daniel Silva

Another winner from Daniel Silva and the Gabriel Allon series. It had been at least a couple of years since I read one of the books in this series, and I forgot how much I enjoyed them. This book is a bit of a slow burn but I loved every chapter. Much of the book focuses on a new character and not Allon, but that did not take away from the story at all for me. Highly recommended series.

Author: Nathan Edmondson
Series: Black Widow (2014), 2
Format: ebook
Length: N/A
Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis: On a snowy night in Prague, Black Widow must fight her way out of disaster alongside the Winter Soldier! And as Isaiah’s London business turns complicated, Natasha finds herself fighting against — or alongside? — the Punisher for access to a deadly criminal network. But trapped on an exploding oil rig with Crossbones and his Skull Squad, will Frank and Natasha complete their missions — or take each other out? Then, Hawkeye is back! But could his fight with the Widow cost Isaiah his life? And in the wake of Wolverine’s death, Black Widow bonds with the despondent X-23 over punching and espionage, and teams up with the Howling Commandos for a dangerous mission in Afghanistan. But what will the Avengers do when they learn how Natasha has been spending her days off?

Favourite character: Laura
Least favourite character: N/A

Mini-review: I feel like I've missed something. The first two were confusing to me. I loved the X-23 cameo. I'm not a big Black Widow fan, honestly.

Format: ebook
Length: N/A
Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis: American soldiers are being held by a South American drug lord, when a new prisoner arrives: Frank Castle! But not all is as it seems on either side of the bars, and now a wounded Frank and a Special Forces medic must hazard dangerous terrain and merciless mercenaries to escape! Then, the Punisher finds himself fighting alongside — or against? — Black Widow for access to a deadly criminal network. But can either survive being trapped on an abandoned oil rig with Crossbones and his Skull Squad? And back in Los Angeles, a new crimelord with a personal vendetta against Frank Castle has arisen — and the Howling Commandos set their sights on Frank! Can the Punisher save his adopted home?

Favourite character: Frank
Least favourite character: Crossbones

Mini-review: Not as good as the first one but I still enjoyed it. There was a brief Fantastic Four cameo where Reed, Ben and Sue look like their 2015 movie counterparts (Miles Teller, Jamie Bell and Kate Mara). I can't wait to read the next volume.
