April wrap-up

So I guess I can say April wasn't a big reading month for me, but with all the studying I've been doing it's still a lot. These are all the physical books I've read in April:

- Insurgent (Divergent #2) by Veronica Roth 5/5 (re-read)

- Monsters of Men (Chaos Walking #3) by Patrick Ness review series

- A Walk To Remember by Nicholas Sparks 5/5 (re-read)

- Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen (still currently reading)

I read the last 200 pages in April, so that's why it is in this wrap-up as well. I also read the two novellas that comes along with the Chaos Walking trilogy on my laptop.

I decided to read a Roald Dahl novel and decided to read The Witches (review) and I read that one on my Ipad.

When I was reading Sense and Sensibility I got kinda in a reading slumb, because I had to study as well and the writing style in this novel is hard to follow when you have studies already. I really like the story though! I think I'm going to put this one down 'till after finals. Because I had to study and wanted to have a light read, I decided to re-read A Walk To Remember. It's my all time favorite story and I've never read this copy before so I re-read it.

What have you read in April?

Review: Chaos Walking trilogy by Patrick Ness

Summary:

Todd Hewitt is the only boy in a town of men. Ever since the settlers were infected with the Noise germ, Todd can hear everything the men think, and they hear everything he thinks. Todd is just a month away from becoming a man, but in the midst of the cacophony, he knows that the town is hiding something from him -- something so awful Todd is forced to flee with only his dog, whose simple, loyal voice he hears too. With hostile men from the town in pursuit, the two stumble upon a strange and eerily silent creature: a girl. Who is she? Why wasn't she killed by the germ like all the females on New World? Propelled by Todd's gritty narration, readers are in for a white-knuckle journey in which a boy on the cusp of manhood must unlearn everything he knows in order to figure out who he truly is.

My opinion:

Overall I think this is a really brilliant series. The writing style is so unique and that was the first thing I noticed. This is a children's series so English isn't that perfect written yet. The writing style is in the same way children speak and even the same way we pronounce it.

The storyline captivated me as well. It is really important to read the three novellas as well, because I the story isn't complete without them. The ending of book 3 was so heartbreaking, but the last novella made the ending a great ending! You can read the three novellas for free! The publisher has posted them so we can read them online. Check it out here. You have to give you e-mail address and then they will send you the three novellas.

This is my rating of the books individually:

- The New World (novella 0.5) 5/5
- The Knife Of Never Letting Go (book 1) 5/5
- The Ask and the Answer (book 2) 3.5/5
- The Wide, Wide Sea (novella 2.5) 5/5
- Monsters of Men (book 3) 4.5/5
- Snowscape (novella 3.5) 4/5

As you can see I didn't like the second book as much as the other ones. I don't why though. Maybe it was because I wasn't in the mood for it, but it didn't captivate me as much as the other books. I still loved this entire trilogy and I recommend it to everyone who likes dystopian/science fiction.

March wrap-up

So March is already over! I can't believe it lol. Here are the books I've read this month (in order from top to bottom):

- Ignite by Lily Paradis 3/5 review

- The Picture by Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde 5/5 review

- Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren 5/5

- Attachments by Rainbow Rowell 5/5 review

- A Room of One's Own by Virginia Woolf 5/5 review

- The Ask and the Answer by Patrick Ness (Chaos Walking trilogy #2) 3.5/5

- The Wide, Wide Sea by Patrick Ness (Chaos Walking trilogy, novella #2.5) 4/5

- Insurgent (Divergent trilogy #2) by Veronica Roth 5/5 (of course)

I haven't finish Insurgent yet, but it's a re-read and I have exams (I'm done with exams on Wednesday 10.30 AM, so I will be finishing that one that day) so technically I'll finish that one in April, but whatever haha. I actually can't believe I haven't done a review of Pippi Longstocking (but I loved it so much of course!). If you'd like me to do it: please leave it in the comments! Do you already see how much diversely I read? I honestly love reading different genres and exploring. If I have to read books from just one genre I'd probably drive crazy. Which genres do you read most from? Or are you just like me?! Haha. Oh and I'm going to do a full review of The Chaos Walking trilogy as soon as I've finished that series.

What have you read in March?

Friday Reads
The Ask and the Answer - Patrick Ness

I decided to do a friday reads, because it is in the middle of a series and I usually don't let you guys know that I'm reading a book in a series until the monthly wrap-up or when I'm finished with that series.

In the week of Read-O-Rama I started the second book in the Chaos Walking trilogy by Patrick Ness (The Ask and the Answer) but I had 100 pages left and then I decided to read A Room of One's Own by Virginia Woolf, which I finished yesterday (I couldn't post a review then because the dashboard, on which I write articles) was down (it got fixed today so yay!) so I did finished The Ask and the Answer today. I don't want to do a full review of it until I'm done with the series, but I didn't like this one as much as the first one. The only part that captivated me was the last 100 pages. I hope the third book will be better!

So now I'm going to read the novella that is between the second and the third novel: The Wide, Wide Sea (#2.5). Since it's already 9.45 pm where I live, I'm not going to reading anything else today.

What are you guys reading today?

February wrap-up

I didn't read that much in February, because I had to read a book for school (and make a summary and I had to write all the details down and stuff) but hey at least I read something Here are the books I've read:

- The New World (Chaos Walking #0.5) novella by Patrick Ness 5/5

- The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking #1) by Patrick Ness 5/5

- Opposition (Lux #5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout 4/5 review series

- Der Vorleser (I read this in German and no German isn't my first language and I don't live in Germany ;'), English title is The Reader) 2/5

- Sold by Patricia McCormick 5/5 review

- The Unbound by Victoria Schwab 5/5 review

Okay now I see this I think it's still a lot, so I'm really happy! I'm out of my reading slumb (see January wrap-up) and all I want to do is read. Oh and I now many people don't know about the novellas of the Chaos Walking trilogy and where to get them. You can download them legally for free! Here's the link: click
