Purrfect Santa: Howls Romance
Purrfect Santa: Howls Romance - Jessie L... Purrfect Santa: Howls Romance - Jessie Lane

Purrfect Santa was the purrfect Christmas novella! Its so adorable! Fated mates, an adorable toddler, and a lion fighting for his panther!

Nikki is NOT looking for her mate, but she knows Joe is it as soon as she sees him. Being mated destroyed her parents. They were neglectful to her and her baby sister because they were so wrapped up in each other. They died 6 months before and Nikki has vowed that she will always be there for Sarah. Joe has a big mountain of walls to scale to win his mate. I think this story will appeal to people who aren't huge fans of the fated mate trope because Nikki doesn't fall for Joe right away. She is willing to walk away from their bond because she is scared of turning into her parents.

I just adore this story! Nikki's sister is adorable, Nikki and Joe are likable characters, and the story is just too sweet! Seriously-there wasn't a thing about this I didn't just swoon over! I haven't read any other Howls Romance books but if they are all as wonderful as Purrfect Santa, I will read every one of them!

  • POV: 3rd
  • Tears: no
  • Trope: fated mates
  • Triggers: none
  • Series/Standalone: stand alone
  • Cliffhanger: no
  • HEA: yes but I wish there was an epilogue that gave us more of Nikki, Joe, and Sarah in the future; the epilogue is just a few hours after the actual story ended!

Books by Eve Langlais, Milly Taiden, Lisa Ladew...then you will probably like Purrfect Santa!

Purrfect Santa by Jessie Lane & Chasity Bowlin Book Tour and Review

A woman afraid to love …

Nikki knows what it is to lose those you love. With her focus on her orphaned sister, she hasn’t given herself the chance to process her own grief over the loss of their parents. Life is chaos and the last complication she needs is a mate.

A lion alone for too long …

Joe Miller knows chaos. Being orphaned as a child, he’s never had a family to call his own. Crashing with a friend for the holidays, he’s hoodwinked into playing Santa Claus at a local mall. The last thing on his mind is finding a mate.

A love worth the risk …

With her baby sister on her hip, sadness in her eyes, and a longing in her heart, Nikki waits in line with her sister to see Santa. From the moment he scents her, Joe is in deep. It’s going to take everything he has to convince Nikki the love outweighs the risk to her heart. Luckily for Joe, he has fate and Nikki’s adorable baby sister on his side. After all, who can say no to the Purrfect Santa at Christmas?

Purrfect Santa is a delightful paranormal romance that entices readers with a wealth of emotions and holiday inspiration.

Joe and Nikki are strong, defined characters that pull readers into their story as they struggle with past heartaches and a romance that may just prove to be too much hope for their battered hearts. The story keeps readers glued to the pages with lots of suspense, romance and hope which gives readers a delicious happy holiday feeling as the couple strives for the happily ever after.

I was completely caught up in the story from the very beginning and fell in love with Joe and Nikki and definitely for Nikki’s little sister and while the story was short, it packed quite a punch.

Purrfect Santa is available during the tour at a special release price of $0,99

Chapter 1 Excerpt!

If one more kid tried to pull his beard, he was going to roar.

Joe looked at the small spawn of Satan currently sitting on his lap and held in the urge to growl. The kid was maybe five years old, had blonde hair, blue eyes and dimples galore. His first thought was she was adorable. Now, after she’d pulled on his Santa beard during the picture, he knew better. She was nothing but trouble. If he really were Santa, he would give her coal in her stocking and a letter advising her parents to put her in the naughty corner.

“Smile, Santa!”

The photographer’s words were more of a warning than a cue to get ready for the second picture. So Joe played his role, ho ho ho’d, and smiled for the camera while the brat on his lap asked him for a pony.

There had been a time when Joe hadn’t dreaded Christmas so much. Back when he was a kid and everything about Christmas had still seemed so magical. Not so much anymore. It sucked when you spent the holidays alone. To say he was a bit bitter about the holiday season was an understatement.

Which was part of the reason he couldn’t believe he was here at The Mall of the Smokies, being the damn Santa. How had he gotten wrangled into this position again?

His buddy Sam. Buddy. So much for never leaving a man behind, he thought. There he sat, covered from head to toe in red velvet that was none too fresh and none too clean, thanks to the boozy sweat of the previous wearer. Of course, he’d also had more than one kid with a leaky diaper on his lap that day.

And Sam, where was Sam? Nowhere to be seen.

Joe and Sam had served together in the Marine Corps, but once Sam had completed his term of service, he’d come back home to help run the family business, a lodge in the mountains of East Tennessee. Joe, having nowhere to go after getting out of the service himself, had taken Sam up on his offer to crash at the Bearadise Lodge.

There was just one catch. The Lodge was sponsoring Santa’s Workshop at the local outlet mall, and they were short one Santa. Apparently, the old Santa had been fired for drinking on the job.

Damn that Sam!

After only one day of being Santa, Joe could see why the previous hire had been driven to drink. These kids were hell on his nerves. Like the blonde brat who was once again pulling on his beard. He was just about to give her a little growl when she hopped off his lap and ran giggling to her mother, who gave him an unapologetic glance before dismissing him entirely.

This job would have been so much easier if he were in a shifter-run community. Then he could growl all he wanted. Instead, he was dealing with humans and had to keep his feline traits under wraps.

As the next kid, a little boy about the age of four, climbed on to his lap and proceeded to fart, Joe did his best not to cringe. Bullets and bad guys he could deal with. Snot-nosed kids were apparently his downfall. He’d only been at this for a day and he was thinking of telling Sam he could shove this Santa job where the sun didn’t shine. Joe didn’t even want to think about doing this until Christmas Eve. Three days away. Three long, miserable, endless days of bratty kids, droopy diapers, and disaffected parents more interested in their phones than their kids.

In fact, as the next kid proceeded to sneeze all over him, Joe considered walking out right then.

But then something happened that kept him glued to his seat. His sharp lion senses caught a new smell among the crowd. Peppermint and sugar cookies.

Mate, his lion roared inside his head.

The one person that was cosmically meant for him and him alone. The woman that Mother Nature deemed his. He scanned the crowd until he finally saw her at the end of the line, waiting to come see him.

Short, with generous curves that would fill his hands, she had black hair pulled to the top of her head in a messy bun. He wondered what color her eyes were, being too far away to see them. Scanning the rest of her body, he suddenly stopped when he came to the thing that shocked him the most.

A kid on her hip.

Was it her child? From this far away, he couldn’t scent the small one. Had someone already laid hands on his mate? His lion roared again, only this time it was in protest. No one should touch his mate but him! He would slaughter the man who had dared give his mate a cub.

“SANTA!” the elf behind the camera shouted.

Joe snapped his attention back to the man he was going to eviscerate for taking his concentration away from his mate, only to find a scared human staring at him. It was then he realized the child on his lap was shaking in fear.

The elf inched forward to whisper so the others in line couldn’t hear. “You growled at him, Santa! Say you’re sorry.”

His stomach sank. To say he felt like a colossal piece of shit was an understatement. He had been so wrapped up in his emotions that he had let his lion slip out a little in public, which was a big hell no in the shifter rules. Joe looked at the little boy on his lap and gave the kid a big smile, trying to play off what had happened. “How would you like a stuffed lion for Christmas? They go grrrrrrr.”

The little boy looked at him with wide eyes that slowly turned from fear to curiosity. “You can make a stuffed lion that growls?”

Joe nodded. “Sure can. I can put the elves to work on it right away if that’s what you want.”

The little boy scrunched his face up in thought but then shook his head no. “I really want a bike for Christmas, Santa. Can I have that instead of the lion?”

Relieved that the boy was no longer scared, Joe gave him a big grin and a wink. “I’ll see what I can do.”

“Yippee!” The boy squealed as he jumped off Joe’s lap and ran to his mother, who was waiting for him next to the photographer.

Joe watched as the boy happily walked away, then quickly turned his attention back to his mate, who was watching him from the back of the line with big wary eyes. The mating scent was too strong. He couldn’t tell whether or not the child was hers, but that didn’t matter.

She was his.

And if that meant he had to accept another man’s cub into his home to claim his mate, then that’s what he would do. Although he would take great pleasure in rubbing his scent all over both woman and cub every chance that he got. Just to make sure that everyone knew that they were now his and his alone.

Book Review For: The Demon Who Loved Me by Jessie Lane
The Demon Who Loved Me (Big Bad Bite Series Book 4) - Jessie Lane

'The Demon Who Loved Me' by Jessie Lane is book Three in the "Big Bad Bite' series. This is the story of Chloe and Kent. I have read the first book in the series but feel this is easily a standalone series.
We did meet Kent in the first book 'Big Bad Bite' but he was a secondary character with just supporting role.
Chloe is trying to help her family who is dealing with allot of issue right now. Although she is attracted to Kent she knows he is a 'man whore'. Chloe has been hurt before and she won't be getting serious about Kent...or so she thinks.
Kent does have a string of one night stands with a cut off of just three nights. Kent is looking for commitment until he meets Chloe. But can he convince her that he is the man for her.
"My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

Excerpt 1 -

As Dia sat at her table looking at the laminated dinner menu, her mind swirled with doubts and worries. So much so, that she wasn’t reading the menu at all, just lost in her thoughts. All of that changed when the chair across from her scraped across the floor as it was dragged backward and someone sat down.

Suddenly, every nerve ending and instinct in Dia’s body flared to life. Although she hadn’t looked up yet, she somehow knew two things. One, it was a man. The spicy scent of him wafted across the table and filled her senses until her head spun. And two, for some odd reason, her entire being knew that her life was about to change forever.

How weird was that?

Not only weird, but scary. Dia’s life had already changed so much in the last few days with her move to town and taking over the business. There was no way she was ready for it to change any more.

She tried to ignore the unknown man, hoping he might go away if she paid him no attention. Just minutes later, though, she found out that wasn’t going to work, as he leaned forward and braced his arms on the table.

“You going to ignore me all night, princess?”

The unknown man’s voice was so deliciously deep that it tingled certain parts of her body. She loved a deep bass like that. His voice wasn’t what made her head snap up, though. No, it was her irritation.

“I’m not a fucking princess,” she snapped back.

She hated when people made assumptions about her just because of the way she looked. Just because she liked to have her make-up and hair done at all times didn’t mean that she was a high-maintenance woman. Dia could swing a hammer just as good as any guy in here, and if the stranger didn’t watch it, she would swing that hammer at his head.

It didn’t take much to set off Dia’s fiery temper.

Of course, the urge to hit him abruptly died away when she got her first good look at the man she had studiously tried to avoid only seconds before. The word beautiful didn’t seem to do the man justice. No, he was absolutely and utterly beard-bodacious beautiful.

He had dark, shaggy hair she immediately wanted to run her fingers through, and gorgeous steel-grey eyes. His facial features were strong, like his jaw, and undoubtedly handsome. Rugged was how one might describe them. Not Dia, though. No, the word predatory was the word that came to mind as she looked at his intent eyes and the smirk on his lips. The man was staring at her like he was a starving wolf and she was the plump, little lamb he had set his sights on.

Would it be terribly wrong if she gave in to temptation and asked him to eat her? Because looking at the stranger made her hotter than any other man had before. He was just that damn devastating. The realization made Dia feel confused because she had never had this sort of reaction to a man before.

The stranger’s smirk spread into a huge grin as he watched her after she snapped the heated words at him.

She waited for his rebuttal; some condescension that she hadn’t needed to be so snippety. Instead, he leaned forward and whispered, “All right, sweetheart, I get it; you’re not a princess. I just couldn’t help myself because, here you sit, in this little restaurant, surrounded by farmers and working men, prettier than anything I’ve ever seen in my whole life. You haven’t noticed that every single man’s eyes are glued to you, and you haven’t seen their pitiful attempts to get your attention. So, I had to come over here and make sure you had no choice but to notice me.”

“Why is that?” she asked him curiously.

“Because you’re mine.”

Excerpt 2 -

“And what if I told you I was something straight out of a fairy tale, would you believe me?”

Thinking he was teasing, Dia teased back, “Is this where you tell me you really are Prince Charming?”

When Stone didn’t laugh at her joke, Dia took notice of the tension in the air around them and stiffened herself.

“Or, are you the frog under those clothes?”

He grabbed her tightly, almost as if he was afraid she would ask him to let her go. “I’m not Prince Charming, sweetheart.”

“Then what are you talking about?” Dia asked him, confused.

“I’m the big bad wolf, Dia.”

She started to laugh, thinking he was joking again, but his serious face stopped her.

Quickly getting confused and frustrated with his mood swings, she snapped, “Fine, if you’re such a big bad wolf, then how about you prove it to me, then? Do something … wolfy.”

One of his eyebrows cocked up. “Wolfy?”

Dia nodded, determined to straighten out this confusing mess. She had no idea what the hell Stone was trying to get at here, but she wasn’t one for bullshit. It was best just to cut right through the crap.

Crossing her arms over her chest, she reiterated her command, “Wolfy, mister.”

Shrugging his shoulders, Stone started to move, but not in any way she had expected him to. No, the crazy man started stripping his clothes off.

“What the hell are you doing, Stone?” Dia glanced around, worried someone might see him getting naked.

With a laugh in his voice, Stone answered her as he pushed his boots off his feet, “I’m getting wolfy, woman. Give me a minute, would ya?”

Tired of the man acting like a total lunatic, Dia put a hand over her eyes to block the sight of him and shouted, “You will put your clothes back on right this minute, Stone Blaylock, or I will never speak to you again!”

Stone didn’t answer her with words … There were grunts. Then a long groan. Followed by … a growl?

Past the point of confusion, and a whole lot worried, Dia peeked between two of her fingers to where Stone should have been standing. But he wasn’t there. That was when Dia removed her hand altogether and looked to find a massive wolf in his place.

Dia’s fear and adrenaline kicked in right away. She had good reason to be scared, too. The damn wolf was almost twice the size of any wolf she had seen at a zoo, and licking his chops like she was dinner.

Excerpt 3 -

“Wait!” Dia shouted, scared at not knowing what was going on. “Before you go, please tell me what happened!”

Dr. Bennett looked back down at Dia with a stoic expression. “Miss Connor, you were involved in an accident. There was a gas explosion, and you just barely missed the worst part of it. You are lucky to have survived the blast.”

Out of the corner of her eye, Dia could see the nurse injecting something into her IV line.

Totally dumbfounded at what she had just been told, she squinted at the bright light around her while asking the doctor, “How long have I been here?”

Dr. Bennett bent back over so she could block the light from her eyes again, “You’ve been in a medically-induced coma for two months, Miss Connor. Now I know you must have lots of questions for me, but I need you to lie back and try to get some more rest, okay? I’ll be back to check on you in a couple of hours.”

She watched as Dr. Bennett walked away then stood just outside of the room’s doorway, writing on what was presumably Dia’s chart. The nurse walked out with her and stopped right next to her, quietly bringing the door to a close. Thing was, she didn’t close it all the way. There was a small crack, and as fogginess started to impair her thoughts, she could still hear the nurse talking to the doctor.

“It’s so tragic what happened to her and her family. And it looks like she doesn’t remember a thing. When are you going to tell her that her parents were killed in the explosion?”

Dia’s heart clenched so hard in her chest that, for a moment, she wondered if she was having a heart attack. Even though she couldn’t place a face to the thought of having a mother and father, it still broke her heart to know that they were now gone. Dia might never remember them again.

Her heart monitor went crazy as her chest started to tighten even more, and the nurse rushed back in to check on Dia. “Miss Connor, are you okay?”

Tears ran silently down her face as she watched the nurse check the machines that had her heart monitor and blood pressure on it. The nurse turned back to her and said, “You’re safe here, Miss Connor. I need you to try to calm down. It’s not good for the baby for you to be this upset.”

The edges of her vision became black, and the haziness she had felt earlier was now stronger than ever. Dia’s heart was still pounding away in her chest, but it wasn’t enough to keep her awake. Nor was the shock from the nurse’s words.

In all honesty, through the frantic thoughts racing through her mind, Dia realized she was probably more lightheaded because she was about to pass out than from the meds they had given her. All because of one little word.

Baby.

And as the black in her vision spread, her chest gasping for air, Dia had one last thought before she passed out. What baby?

Our Review

Coal and Paisley !

Lets start off by saying this is new author to us and we enjoyed reading their latest installment in their MC Romance series.I loved reading MC Romances so we are always looking to add to our current book collection.

I did enjoy this story.I found the characters to be like-able as well as engaging. The story dabbles in the current problems arising in the MC and how the members are dealing with them. Each member's different personality blended into the story making it a fun read.Although I liked the two main characters a lot Pixie ( Paisley's nick name) and Coal I just couldn't imagine them as a couple. There was a lot of things that I liked about each character but, they were total opposites .I like a story when the character's are totally different and they seem to make it work and sometimes it even works to their advantage.Pixie is a Vegan and lives a clean life in mind and spirit as well as health. She needs balance in her life just to focus and to be happy.Coal is tall dark dangerous as well as having a troubled past. He lives life on the edge and is in danger because of the life he leads yet he is attracted to a sweet an innocent. His polar opposite.I just couldn't see a relationship going anywhere for this couple from the very beginning.

I loved how Paisley was always happy upbeat and determined. She was kind and quite love-able.I liked how she was with her friends who were also her polar opposite but seem to make their friendships work.I like how she was willing to take chances within reason. She was just an adorable character who just tried to make all those around her happy as well.I loved that about her.I also loved how she was always giving herself pep talks they made me laugh.

I loved Coal with his good deeds.I loved how he took his troubled past and tried to make a difference to those women in need. I love how he loved his friends and the loyalty he showed them.I enjoyed seeing him squirm fighting his attraction toward Paisley. It was too funny .I chuckled more then once.I loved how Trevor's (Coal) reasons for not getting involved with Pixie had nothing to do with her lifestyle choices they were personal ones.Coal even started eating slightly better by being with Paisley. It happened gradually without him even realizing he was making better choices in general.I loved that omg moment when he realizes he was giving up meat! Too funny!

This was a light fun read.I enjoyed getting to know the character's and I am looking forward to picking up the other stories in its series.I enjoy the other character's as well their different personalties blended into the story adding humor to it.

Although this couple had chemistry It lacked heat and fire.I missed the sizzle I guess you could say that this couple could have brought to the pages.Paisley would have been a willing partner in that area. She was a tad adventurous ...

We are giving this story 4 stars.I am hoping to read more of these authors stories in this series in the near future and get to know the rest of the character's and their stories.
