Sex Criminals #4: Fourgy!
Sex Criminals Volume 4: Fourgy! - Matt Fraction

Can I just cut and paste my review from the third volume? Because that would pretty much cover it.
Art = yes. Writing = yes. Weirdness in spades = yeppers. Hilarious little details if you squint = absolutely. A pretty great feminist speech by Dr. Kincaid = you got it. Relationship woes for our heroes = sadly yes. No idea where this is even going anymore = ding ding ding. Willingness to read the next volume = you betcha.

Sex Criminals #3: Three the Hard Way
Sex Criminals Volume 3: Three the Hard Way (Sex Criminals Tp) - Chip Zdarsky,Matt Fraction

More adventures for the sex criminals. If you're looking into reading volume three by now you know what to expect from both the writing and art style (although this volume seemed extra meta, in a funny way). This volume introduced an asexual character, and I thought handled that exploration really well. It also had a side rant about how shaming people for what they are into (or not into) is pretty shitty, as well as some feminist theory sandwiched in between story/weirdness. All in all a good volume, even if I have no idea where any of this is going anymore.

Another one that's a bit unfathomable – science-fiction comic collection
Solid State - Matt Fraction,Jonathan Cou... Solid State - Matt Fraction,Jonathan Coulton

Maybe it's me but this comic collection is a bit hard to follow. A fair amount of patience is needed and perseverance although it is nicely-produced and quite interesting. It's about how our data is collected, owned and used – in the distant future.

Not sure about this as you may have gathered. I like my plots to be a bit more straight-forward and easier to follow – maybe I'm a bit thick for this one. Might be worth a shot for devoted comic readers.

Sex Criminals #2: Two Worlds One Cop
Sex Criminals Volume 2: Two Worlds, One Cop - Chip Zdarsky,Matt Fraction

Hmm. I absolutely adored the first volume, but this one was a bit flat for me. I still liked it, but I didn't love it. Perhaps part of what felt lacking is the contrast. The first volume is more fun and lively as our two heroes get to know one another and explore their powers. In this volume they've hit a slump, and I'm right there in the slump with them. If the first book is about giddy early relationship fire this one is about depression and stagnation, which...not super funny. I still love the art, really like the ideas, and dig how the characters break the fourth wall constantly. I'll absolutely be reading the next volume, especially given where this one leaves off, but going forward I'm hoping for a bit more comedy and a little less drama.

So, Civil War...
Civil War: Punisher War Journal (Punisher War Journal (2006-2009)) - Ariel Olivetti,Matt Fraction,Mike Deodato Jr.

I picked this up as a freebie a while back, and just haven't gotten around to this.   I don't know, guys.  I really don't.  I enjoyed a bunch of this, but Civil War became this big tangled mess, and while it's nice to see how The Punisher saved Spider-Man, it makes me aware of what a big mess these types of events are.  I have to read everything to really get everything, and I don't have the time, money or patience to read everything.

So I liked it: how they tracked down Castle, how he fought back without killing law enforcement, but I don't like the reminder that this is part of a huge web that I'll never really get the full story on, so I knocked down one star.
