New Release Review! Coldest Fire (Dominion #3) Juliette Cross!

Shh....be very quiet. I am in a post apocalyptic world and I am following the archangel Uriel around because I want to see the demon prince Vladek get what he deserves and Uriel is so hell bent on getting his revenge that he has even accepted the help of the witch Nadya. This is so exciting! Enjoy and don't forget to add COLDEST FIRE - the 3rd and final book in the Dominion series by Juliette Cross to your shelves!

Archangel Uriel is hell bent on revenge on the demon prince Vladek. To get into the prince’s impenetrable fortress, he’ll have to fight in the pits of the underworld. And he’ll need the help of the last person he can trust –– the demon witch Nadya.

There is no way Nadya, who spends her days taking care of others, expected to find Uriel on her doorstep. He seems no happier about being there than she does. But helping him means evening the scales against her backstabbing sister, and she’ll do whatever it takes to make that bitch pay.

Using the fight pit circuits in the demon underworld, Nadya helps Uriel combat his way to the arena at the castle in Russia. Only she isn’t what she seems. As a matter of fact, she may hold the key to his redemption...and to his heart.

What an awesome, earth shattering conclusion to the Dominion series! Uriel and Nadya are two bold, striking characters that easily capture the attention of their audience which consists not only of the readers but also the bad guys. The chemistry between them is made of strong, electrical and fiery current but the romance is quite sweet as these two wounded souls join together to achieve their goals. Lots of emotional turmoil flowing the pages along with the passion and romance which really brings these characters to life.

The fast paced plot is full of energy, suspense and excitement as they enact their plan to reach the arena, knowing that once they are there, things will not go as they expect. The danger builds the closer they get to their enemy and with a couple stunning twists the readers just have to hang on to every last word of this exhilarating, nail biting read.

The Seer's Lover (The Seven Archangels Series) - Kat de Falla

The Seer’s Lover has been on my TBR for some time, but I did not get the chance to read it before now. My reasons for purchasing this title at the time was twofold. I chose to read this book based on the synopsis and the cover, which I found eerie. I had no experience with the with the author’s work, but because this was a story about the supernatural world, I expected to have a great time.

What is the book about?
Calise Rowe, a pharmacist, has the ability to sense unusual energy from persons she comes in contact with. She did not understand what it meant and her questions went unanswered. However, she would discover the true meaning behind her abilities, when she inadvertently exposed herself to a demon and was saved by a stranger. The stranger directs her to travel to Costa Rica where she would find the answers she desperately seeks.
Lucas Rojas is a seer, with the ability to see demons and angels who walk among humans. He comes from a long line of seers, dating as far back as to the time of the Messiah. He has kept his abilities secret because his kind has been hunted by demons whose intent was to obliterate their lineage.

What I enjoyed.
The story introduces readers to a world where demonic forces desire to control humans where angels protect humans from the wrath of these and seers whose job it is to destroy these evil forces. The beginning was intriguing which, made me eager to uncover the secrets that lay between the pages.

I found the fight scenes between Lucas and the demons exciting and exhilarating. I thought these scenes were well written. The author provided detailed descriptions as it relates to these scenes allowing me to visualise every action that took place at this point.

I enjoyed the way the author conveyed her feelings into the story. Her ability to keep me engaged was on par for the most part. I thought the word building was good. The pacing was good. This along with the writing helped me to get through the story.

The issues I had.

Unfortunately, I had a hard time connecting with the characters. None of them elicited any emotion within me. Have you ever been to an event where you encounter a group of people whom you have never met, but for some reason, their actions prevent you from wanting to get to know them and you can’t wait to leave? Well sad to say this is how I felt about the characters in this book. My least favourite character was Shane, Calise’s ex-boyfriend. I found him to be weak and pathetic. His relationship with Calise ended a long time, but he was still obsessing to the point where he became unstable.

The romance between Lucas and Calise lacked credibility. First, it was an insta-love connection and second at no time did I see where their feelings for each other were allowed to develop. They never got time to know each other, before declaring their love for each other. As a result, I was unable to connect with them as a couple.

The story felt a bit disjointed in some areas. The movement between scenes in some areas did not flow resulting in it appearing unreal. Then there were the many unanswered questions that I was left with at the end of the story. I am still trying to figure out what happened. I am wondering if the answers are in book two, but I am not sure if I am keen to venture there.

Verdict
This book had potential, but it did not work for me. However, even though it didn’t work for me, don’t be discouraged from giving this book a try. If you enjoy paranormal stories about angels and demons and don’t mind insta-love connections, you will love this book

The Seer's Lover (The Seven Archangels Series)
The Seer's Lover (The Seven Archangels Series) - Kat de Falla Calise Rowe took over the family business as a pharmacist. One night a strange man comes in with a prescription just as Calise is starting to close the store. As Calise is filling the prescription for the man becomes physical with her. Another man comes in the shop and basically runs the first man off. As she leaves the store she finds the 2nd man dying in the parking lot. He tells her to find his sister Carmen in Costa Rica.
Calise has always had the ability to see and feel things about people that others do not. When She jumps on a plane and heads to Costa Rica it is like landing in a whole new realm for her filled with Angels, Demons, and other supernatural beings with powers as well.
The book was pretty good. It felt a bit rushed at times. This is one book I would of liked a bit more explanations and descriptions in, to make the story come together a bit better.

Archangel's Enigma by Nalini Singh
Archangel's Enigma (Guild Hunter) - Nalini Singh

Archangel's Enigma (Guild Hunter #8) by Nalini Singh

Naasir is the most feral of the powerful group of vampires and angels known as the Seven, his loyalty pledged to the Archangel Raphael. When rumors surface of a plot to murder the former Archangel of Persia, now lost in the Sleep of the Ancients, Naasir is dispatched to find him. For only he possesses the tracking skills required—those more common to predatory animals than to man.

Enlisted to accompany Naasir, Andromeda, a young angelic scholar with dangerous secrets, is fascinated by his nature—at once playful and brilliant, sensual and brutal. As they race to find the Sleeping archangel before it’s too late, Naasir will force her to question all she knows...and tempt her to walk into the magnificent, feral darkness of his world. But first they must survive an enemy vicious enough to shatter the greatest taboo of the angelic race and plunge the world into a screaming nightmare

My Review:
Every once in awhile there's just a certain book that doesn't jibe with me, unfortunately Archangels Enigma is it.
Definition of Enigma:
1. A puzzling or inexplicable occurrence or situation
2. A person of puzzling or contradictory character
3. A saying, question, picture, etc., containing a hidden meaning
The definition itself is Archangels Enigma summed up into a tidy little package from beginning to end. Andromeda is everything a man could want, everything every woman would want to be. Andromeda is everything that would set fire to a man like Nassir, give us readers passion beyond any book that has come before it, there's only one problem. Miss perfect has taken a vow of celibacy.

Seriously. And I could have respected that if I actually believed in why she'd chosen to do that, but there was no real conviction or belief that was expressed honestly enough to make me believe in her decision.

And Nassir, our dangerous smoldering warrior turned into a naive, boyish and all too gullible person around her. I felt absolutely no chemistry at all aside from the possibility of opposites attract but this was like two strangers being mashed together for the sake of being paired to get to the next point.
How did we get from steamy, adventurous, exciting to this lull and drag out pointless half hearted installment?

I felt the book could have been dissected into a novella that left out the relationship between Nassir and Andromeda and just focused on the journey and the cameo guest spots and saved Nassir and his potential to shine for a much better female partner that suited him more appropriately.
Sadly for me Nassir and Andromeda went through the motions and developed their ... friendship? Relationship? Whatever it is despite their purposeless involvement.

My Rating:
3 Stars
