Avenged by an Angel is book sixteen in the Eternal Mates series by Felicity Heaton.

OMG! I LOVED it. Eternal Mates is a fabulous series.

I loved the Fourth Commander of the Echelon angels. He does finally get a name, but I’m leaving that for you to find out. ^_^ He knew just what Emelia needed to heal. I loved how patient and tender he was with her. I loved his conflict with the darkness and light inside him.

Emelia is a strong women even if she doesn’t feel like it. Trauma can do a number on you and healing may not feel like it’s happening, but once our Angel comes into the picture she starts to think and feel differently.

I loved having so many characters and couples from previous books in the series come into play in Avenged by an Angel. The way Heaton weaves her tale and combines previous events into play is superb. We get so many events and characters that you know the world is building, changing, and working together.

I will say I felt like a few things were left unanswered/open at the end; like the conflict with the jealous angel, the angels that went into Hell, and are Emelia and the Fourth Commander spending eternity together? – It’s implied, but no mating/formal ceremony, so i felt the relationship was a little left open.

Rated: 4.5 Stars

Review 4*

Avenged by an Angel is the sixteenth book in the Eternal Mates series.

Emelia is a character who has appeared in earlier books in the series. I am glad she gets her own story, as I wondered what had happened to her when she was kidnapped by a dragon and subsequently rescued. Emelia is a hunter working for Archangel, the company/corporation who acts as a human police force over the other paranormal and supernatural species of the world in this series. She is a friend of Sable and Olivia's.

The Fourth Commander of the Echelon angels is another character who appeared in a previous book in the series. I liked this character a lot. He is a typical Alpha, but he has a dark side (temper-wise) that can sometimes make him into a hot-head. He is given a difficult task by his superiors. He needs to bring the half-human, Sable into the Echelon fold as they are a rare breed and their ranks are a little on the thin side. There are only six of them currently. Unfortunately, his task is interrupted when he meets Emelia and instantly feels a connection to her.

I absolutely love the Eternal Mates world. I started to read this book, and I was quickly pulled in. It kept me riveted from beginning to end. Unfortunately, I also had a feeling of Deja Vue as the beginning is a repeat of scenes from previous books. This repetition, although helpful in one way (to help set up the story), also made it feel like it didn't move forward as it should. The timeline is fixed between after the battle in Hell in Claimed by a Demon King (Book 2) and Turned by a Tiger (Book 12). However, the second half of the story picked up in pace, and it got exciting again.

The story arc with Archangel seems to be dragging on a bit too much now. As I said in my review of book 15, Unchained by a Forbidden Love, and I quote: "I am also a reader who would like more progression on the story arc front. The series is on book fifteen, and each story in the series is a stand-alone, but since there seems to be a vague story arc, there must be a conclusion. However, it seems to me that the author is drawing it out a bit too long. I can understand why she is doing this. I too love the Eternal Mates world and don't wish it to end either, but when the story arc is dragged out in this fashion, I start to lose interest in a series. This doesn't mean I won't read any more of the series, only that, in my opinion, the series is becoming a little tired."

I find that Book 16 is also struggling to keep the story arc going forward though it's moved on slightly. Maybe Book 17 will have more forward motion with the story arc. I am not sure how many books the author intends in this series. But if it's twenty, then she may need to pick up the pace with regards to revealing what's hiding in Archangel's basement prison. Perhaps the author is just as in the dark about that as we readers are. However, I'm still looking forward to finding out. As I've said before, I would much rather have quality over quantity when it comes to a book series, especially one I love.

Felicity Heaton has written another fast-paced, sexy paranormal romance that I thoroughly enjoyed! I love her fast-paced writing style, which flows effortlessly from scene to scene. She is on top of my favourite author's list.

I do not recommend this book to younger readers due to the extremely HOT and explicit sexual scenes. However, I highly recommend this book (and series) if you love sexy paranormal romances full of vampires, elves, werewolves, cat shifters, succubi, incubi, angels, dragons, demons and demonesses. - Lynn Worton

Avenged by Amy Tintera
Avenged (Ruined) - Amy Tintera

I absolutely adored Ruined, the first book in this series, so when Avenged came up on Edelweiss to review, I jumped at the chance.

That was in 2016, ahead of the May 2017 release date.

That was before my life changed forever and I only read 12 books in 2017. Unfortunately Ruined was not one of them.

But with a fresh start in 2018, I picked Ruined up again and was ready to delve back into the world of violence, magic, royalty, legacy, swoony romance, and a strong bond between sisters.

I enjoyed Avenged while I was reading it, but it didn't have the desperate need to turn the page and find out what happened next that Ruined did. I enjoyed the new characters, the development of the old, and the never-ending violence that happened, especially when Olivia was nearby. I really loved how we got to see some points of view from Olivia and Aren. I loved watching Aren go from being the perfect Ruined warrior to something a little more, and questioning his loyalties. I really loved how everyone each had their own agendas which clashed and caused the plot to move forward in an organic way.

However there was something that was missing, and I'm not quite sure what. The plot, perhaps, was a little less exciting that Em's plan to infiltrate the enemy royal house by impersonating a foreign princess and marrying the prince as she did in Ruined. There seemed to be a lot of travel involved in this one, which on the one hand was great as we got to see other kingdoms, but on the other hand, it was travelling. The stakes didn't seem to be quite as high in this book. It seemed that Em was almost invincible: the Lerans won't hurt her, the Olsans wont hurt her, the Ruined won't hurt her... even though she did really risky things, it was more risking the chance for peace than her own life.

Maybe I just miss the Em who murdered a princess in cold blood on the opening pages of Ruined.

Lover Avenged Book Review
Lover Avenged - J.R. Ward

I listened to the audio book for this and feel like I've been listening to it for forever. Its so long. I'd probably give it more than 3.5 stars if it didn't take me so long to get into the story. I do like these characters and loved Rhevenges plotline especially with his sister. I will most likely listen to a few of the next ones. I do thing Rhev is one of the better characters in this series.

New York Times bestselling author Jay Crownover brings heat and heart to Liliana Hart’s MacKenzie family with AVENGED…

Girl meets boy…

On the worst night of her life when she’s decided to take a drastic step that there is no going back from.

Girl is used to sitting by, letting fate deal cruel hand after cruel hand to good people with soft hearts and she’s had enough.

Girl thinks it’s time to fight back against fate and against men who aren’t careful with all the precious things a woman in love has to give him.

Fate shows girl who’s boss and turns her world and plans upside down without breaking a sweat.

Boy meets girl…

On the best night of his life when he’s decided that he’s going to make moves to be the man he was always meant to be instead of the man he was trained and conditioned to be.

Boy is used to a solitary life, quiet in the woods and knowing the only thing that might be looking for him is trouble and trouble is no longer his stock in trade.

Boy thinks it’s time to show trouble who’s boss, even if this trouble has big blue eyes and a body made to make men stupid. Trouble only gets the upper hand if the boy falls prey to its temptation.

Trouble turns the boy’s quiet, serene life sideways without any effort.

Trouble is fun and fate has a wicked sense of humor when it comes to this boy meeting this girl.

Lets start of by saying this is a new author for us a we throughly enjoyed our first read by them.We enjoyed it so much that after finishing this story and that of Never Surrender we purchased two more books in the MacKenzie series. We are looking forward to reading more about those MacKenzie men.

I love this stories plot and it character's .I found them to be engaging, funny, playful,serious,heat-broken,dangerous,regretful,lost,protective,love able, sexy, sweet, caring making them  so intriguing to read about.

I love when two lost soul's find each other and share a connection with one another and have amazing chemistry together.A chance meeting where a couple happens to come into each other life when I just so happens when both are at their lowest points.I love when people who have made bad choices in life are able to find someone they can relate to making it possible where they can finally bare their souls to one another and who would  be able to understand  what they are going through. To sympathize with their past life choices..What I loved about both Echo and Ben is that they owned up to their past's without making excuses and just moved forward to try and make themselves better for themselves and others around them. When shredding their secrets there was no judgement  just sympathy and understanding. Each of them just owned who they were and I really liked that about them.

I always have a favorite character in a story that I pick and mine is going to be Ben.Echo was a favorite to but Ben tipped the scales for me because I loved how he found himself doing things so out of character for him.I saw the most change in his character then any other.Ben could be grumpy, serious, dangerous, deadly, selfish self absorbed and had a huge ego but we saw a totally different side to him when it came to his interactions with Echo.He just amazed me and  had me smiling at every turn. How could this deadly predator treat a women with affection , be gentle and kind and handle her with care and be possessive of someone he just met  and yet be a stone cold killer on the other hand.Ben was instantly attracted to Echo and fought it at every turn knowing he was no good for her knowing that there was not going to be any kind of future for them. What I did love is that he regretted his past for once in his life just wishing he had been a better man and worthy of Echo.I really liked how he teased Echo and called her pet names especially when he gave her the name pop tart. Why that name ? Because he love them. Sigh..I was totally drawn to him with his dangerous aura that sexy grin and that sweet protective side of him making him irresistible .I guess you can say that I fell for him just like Echo did.We always love that certain sweet  knowing it's bad for us yet loving it anyways. We just can't help ourselves its just our one and only sinful indulgence! (laughing out loud)

I have to say that I loved everything about Echo as well.I found her to be sweet ,kind ,love able, sexy, lonely.I felt Echo's pain and suffering at the loss her sister and her guilt at not being able to save her.She took her sisters death to heart and should not have. That guilt only made her resentful , angry and wanting nothing more than to seek revenge for the person she felt  contributed to her sisters death.I loved how Ben helped Echo deal with all of that and put things in perspective so she would be able to heal.I love the chemistry this couple had along with their amazing hot and sexy interludes. One of the things that surprised me the most about Echo is that she never felt afraid of Ben even when she was in no condition to defend herself. They simple bonded and a trust had be formed right from the onset.

I believe that fate put this couple in each other path. The funny thing about fate is that it is not always kind.Even though there may not be a happy after for this couple their being together brought healing to those two lost lonely souls and put them on the a path to find the happiness they were both seeking out of life.I loved this story from beginning to end with all its twist and turns ,it's up and downs ,it's amazing character's that were interesting and you were able to relate to. I was drawn to them from the very first pages.I found myself smiling more than once and chuckling every now and then making it just another fun and fantastic read for us.

I will be looking forward to this author's other works as well. A recommend read to all !
