Loving this reboot
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #4 - Jordie Bellaire,Matt Taylor,Raul Angulo

The fact that it's redoing the series isn't taken too seriously, but at the same time they make some serious nods to the TV show.  Like I didn't see this ending to this coming, because I though all the main characters were safe (I do not consider this a spoiler since the description on Amazon says someone makes a sacrifice) but when I read it, I immediately thought of the first couple episodes and how this mirrored what happened to a character in that episode.   It's clever, and better than that, it's subtle about how it's clever and that makes me very, very happy.

Loving the writing and art and the small twists on this world that add up to, well, a whole new BtVS world.

And Spike wrote this...
[ Spike: Into the Light Marsters, James ( Author ) ] { Hardcover } 2014 - James Marsters

James Marsters penned this, but it doesn't really make sense to me to have this set in season seven, although maybe I'm misremembering the series.   I didn't like season seven much so I haven't seen it in a while.

Anyway, I was disappointed in how short this was, in the lack of character development and the storyline.   The art was fun, and Spike was pretty Spike, so it's not like I hated this.  I'd just hoped for more, especially because I was so pleased with Marsters' writing in the Spike and Dry one-shots.

So, yeah, I didn't see any of that coming...
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #2 - Jordie Bellaire,Matt Taylor

Cordelia?  I suspect she might remember some of the original universe... or something?

And huh.   I didn't suspect Dru was going to be like that, but I like it so far.   So much so I'm going to subscribe to this series.

Love, love, love, in all the ways that I don't know if I can review this without spoiling it.   It's not all being like 'huh' at the characters, or the funny.   What's going on with Xander could get pretty dark, but I'm going to wait and see how this plays out...

Welcome to the Hellmouth Again
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #1 - Jordie Bellaire,Matt Taylor

So, this is a very obvious retcon.  I didn't make it past, what, beginning of season nine of the last series.   But then I saw this on Hoopla and said, well, yeah, I'll read that.

(I should also point out that the comic reader on Hoopla is not nearly as slick as on Comixology so I was glad it was only one issue.  I've bought the second, because of the slick Giles cover which you will see later tonight, and because I saw a favorite character - Spike - in the second issue.)

I'm all into retcons, and this was done well.   Familiar, but with a new twist on some of the characters.  I was very much looking forward to seeing where this was going, and still am.

Love love, love
Buffy: Season Ten Volume 1 : New Rules (Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 10) - Rebekah Isaacs,Christos Gage,Joss Whedon

I didn't read all of last season, I think, but I figured since I had this, I'd give it a go.  Or maybe I just don't remember all of season nine?   Either way, this filled in what I needed to know, and I never felt completely thrown for a loop.

I enjoyed the humor and warmth of Buffy's extended family and I love seeing Spike grow as a character.
