SEASON'S READINGS The Corner of Holly and Ivy by Debbie Mason
Mistletoe Cottage - Debbie Mason
Starlight Bridge - Debbie Mason
Primrose Lane - Debbie Mason
Sugarplum Way (Harmony Harbor) - Debbie Mason

The Corner of Holly and Ivy: A feel-good Christmas romanceHarmony Harbour #8, Each book of the Harmony Harbour series is a standalone, each focus on a different family member of the Greystone legacy. The only continuing theme throughout the series is that someone is trying to get the Gallaghers to sell Greystone Manor by any means necessary and that the former matriarch of the family Colleen "GG" still haunts the Manor and that all the secrets she kept keep coming out and sometimes for the best.

Arianna and Connor were high school sweethearts but Connor hasn't quite let go even after all these years he still cares about her. Arianna lost everything in a fire it not only burned down her bridal boutique but also damaged her arm so she may never draw again and designing wedding dress is what she always dreamed of doing now that dream is gone. Arianna's self isolation comes to an end when her grandmother throws in her hat for the mayoral race against Connor's uncle. When it comes out that her grandma's health isn't well enough Arianna takes her place. Soon she finds herself not in the running with Connor's uncle but Connor himself and just when the romance between them was starting to rekindle.

Connor's not going to let the election get in the way of his feelings for Arianna and as the elections spill over into the holidays everyone in town is willing to help the two love birds that they are a perfect match. But not everything is perfect as yet again someone is out to mess things up with the Gallaghers and Greystone Manor but now the fate of Main Street hangs in the balance too. It's quite the emotional journey for Arianna not only is she dealing with the lost of her dream and maybe the use of her arm but also the health of her Grandmother and the complications that go with that and the fact that Connor has come back into her life and wants to be apart of it confuses her she's happy and she loves him but she has a secret she's been hiding for so long and now it's about to come out.

Overall it was a good read. The election and everything else overshadows the holiday feel of the book, which only comes up toward the end of the book but otherwise I love the characters and I love the town. I can't wait for more.

Primrose Lane, Debbie Mason
Primrose Lane - Debbie Mason

I really enjoyed this romance with a little mystery. This story had a lot of things going on. The heroine and hero are both wounded in more ways than one. Add a child, a dog, a cat and a ghost to start with and things start to get interesting. I received this book for free and I voluntarily chose to review it. I've given it a 5 * rating. This book really pulled me in and had a lot of twists and turns.

Primrose Lane (Harmony Harbor #3)Primrose Lane by Debbie Mason
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book #3 in the Harmony Harbor series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. For reader enjoyment and understanding, I recommend reading this fun series in order.

Dana AKA Olivia has hidden her identity to protect more than her money. She has taken hit after hit emotionally over the last bit. Just trying to survive takes it toll most days. Then this man, who reminds her too much of her former husband is so infuriating!

Finn is getting picked on by the whole family to stay. Like working with Doctors Without Borders is not good enough. Then there is the matchmaking. The woman they want him with is not his type. Or maybe too much his type.

This series is full of fun and humor. Such interesting and quirky characters. Just overall a fun read. There were times I wanted to reach into the book and smack the leading man, but hey, that just makes it an interactive book. I cannot wait to see what this author will give us next!

What are you two still doing in the pond? You can see that we’ve rescued Miller and George, can’t you?” his baby brother Liam asked.

Finn was about to make a smartass comeback when his other brother shouted, “Finn, on your six!”

The wedding guests and waitstaff yelled, “Run!”

Finn glanced over his shoulder. Sure enough, two swans were doing their running-on-water thing and coming toward him with their wings spread wide. “Liv, get out of here!” he yelled, turning to splash the big white birds in order to distract them so she could get to shore. It didn’t feel very manly or heroic, but he couldn’t exactly scoop Liv up and run from the pond with her in his arms. His leg wouldn’t make it. But it’s the thought that counted. Or so he was telling himself when he heard the sound of a warrior’s cry. If his brothers raced into the pond to rescue him, he was going to kill them.

Somebody brushed past him, knocking him off balance. It was Liv. Brandishing her shoes like weapons, she made a beeline for the birds. The swan on the right dipped forward and grabbed the shoe. . . and Liv’s hand. Finn launched himself at Liv, wrapping an arm around her waist and dragging her away from the posturing birds.

A piece of bread hit Finn in the side of the head. The swan dropped Liv’s shoe and joined his three pals to glide gracefully to where the guests were now throwing bread into the pond. Too bad someone hadn’t thought of that earlier.

If I never see a swan again, it’ll be too soon,” he muttered, half-dragging Liv out of the pond after him. It wasn’t until they’d climbed out that he realized she hadn’t said a word. He slowly turned. She was pale and shaking. “Liv, what is it?”

She looked at him, stared at him really, as if she expected him to understand what was going on. And there was definitely something going on, and it had nothing to do with a lost shoe. It hit him then. It had to do with a loss of another kind, a gut-wrenching, soul-crushing, heart-breaking loss that no one should ever have to bear.

He put his hands on her shoulders and ducked to look in her glassy eyes. “She’s fine, Liv. She was never in any real danger. We were here.”

What if we hadn’t been?” she whispered, looking to where his brothers were drying George and Miller with towels. “She wanders off all the time and won’t come when I call. She hides from me, climbs rocks and trees, runs into the woods and the ocean at high tide.” A tear rolled down her cheek. She wiped her face and looked away. “If something happened to her . . .” She slowly shook her head. “I can’t do this, Finn.”
