25 Delicious Pumpkin Recipes: Quick and Easy, Step-by-Step Pumpkin Recipe Cookbook - Martha Stone
20 Easy Pumpkin Recipes: Quick and Easy Pumpkin Recipe Cookbook (Quick and Easy Cooking Series) - Hannie P. Scott

I love pumpkin. Pumpkin Pies, Pumpkin Seeds, Pumpkin Bread, Pumpkin Raviolis. These recipe books were also another found free for Kindles. I had them on my to-be-read-list and I marked several to try when I have time. Some of these would be only for me as I am the only one who will eat pumpkin in many things.

Pumpkin was used in many different recipes. I recommend this book to anyone who also likes pumpkin.

Pumpkin, Pumpkin
Pumpkin Pumpkin - Jeanne Titherington

Pre K-2

This book is about a little boy who plants a pumpkin seed.  He waits for it to grow and then he carves it.  He makes sure to save seeds for next year.  I would love to use this book to discuss the life cycle during Halloween time.  I would read the book and discuss the life cycle of plants and their similarities to life cycles of animals.  I would also let the kids decorate their own pumpkin.

Pumpkin Soup - Helen Cooper

This book is about animals that live in a white cabin in the woods. They make soup everyday and they each have their own specific duty to do. Until one day the duck wants to be the head chef and when he isn't allowed to he leaves. he other animals are unable to make the soup the right way without the duck so they set out to find him. When they are all together again they compromise and help each other create the soup. This would be great to read around the fall and Halloween time. It is leveled 310 L.

The Pumpkin Cookbook, 2nd Edition DeeDee Stovel
The Pumpkin Cookbook, 2nd Edition: 139 Recipes Celebrating the Versatility of Pumpkin and Other Winter Squash - DeeDee Stovel

I love pumpkin. So I was thrilled when I ran across this book on netgalley and even more thrilled when they sent me a ARC copy.  I will be making one of the pumpkin muffins in the morning for our Saturday morning breakfast. There are some super simple recipes in this book as well as some more advanced ones. But they all sound fantastic and before I am done I will probably end up making most of them. The book is easy to read. I love how the fist part of the book explains the different types of pumpkins, ways to peel ad cut, storage and more. I learned a lot from these tips and tricks. I love to cook and really love using fresh ingredients, the tips are very useful so I don't end up with waste.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.

Big Pumpkin -Lexile level AD350L
Big Pumpkin - Erica Silverman,John McDonough

Big Pumpkin, by Erica Silverman, is about a witch who finds a great big pumpkin to make pumpkin pie out of, but she can't get it off of the vine because it's to big and heavy. The witch has many ghouls and goblins come out and try to help her get the pumpkin off the vine, but nothing works. Eventually they work as a team and pull the pumpkin off of the vine together, and luckily it rolls down the hill right into the witches house. The witch then gets to make her pumpkin pie and share it with all of her new friends. I believe that this book would be a great book to use during Halloween to promote teamwork and sharing. I also believe that this book would be a great book to read to your class and then have them take a "field trip" outside so that I can sit them down and cut open a pumpkin so we can go over the insides of a pumpkin and what they are called, look like, and fell like. By tying in the pumpkin activity it would be a great way to tie in science, along with letting them do something fun and interesting. I would use this book for grades first through third to tie in Halloween activities along with educational ones.
