His fellow shifters disagree, but Kasperi knows they’re wrong. This woman needs aid, not the blade of his sword. Together, they must teach her how to control her gifts, to use them for good before they corrupt her completely. Nearby wait his former fellows, ready to take her head for the slightest mistake, and deeper in the shadows lurks a stronger enemy, one who recognizes Amber’s true potential. But, if anyone wants to get to Amber, they’ll have to go through Kasperi first, because he’ll protect his mate at all costs.

The bears of High House Urse may still be struggling against traitors within their house but they sure know to entertain readers. The is never a dull moment to be found during the fourth book of the series as one bear struggles to keep a young woman alive when all of his fellow bears are screaming “off with her head!” Kasperi and Amber are two strong, vivid characters that easily pull readers into their story and make them feel as if they are part of all the excitement taking place including the sizzling chemistry that burns between them. This romance is on rocky ground from the very beginning as Amber struggles to accept all the things that are being thrown at her which has lots of emotional turmoil flowing from the pages and adding depth to the story.
The story starts off with a bang as Amber goes up against a dirt bag in a surprising way and Kasperi and his team was sent to eliminate a rogue mage and only Kasperi is willing to take a stand against her immediate execution when they find a confused young woman on the verge of freezing to death. This fast paced story continues to keep readers on the edge of their seat with lots of suspense and excitement as Kasperi finds himself up against everyone in House Ursa, having to train Amber to control her magic while struggling with the possibility of having magic himself and an unknown enemy that has recognized the true potential of both. The story is full of never ending excitement, surprising twists and super-hot passion that readers can get lost in.

Riley is one of those early-morning people you love to hate, because she swears she doesn't need caffeine, even though the coffee-maker is connected to her smartphone. She lives in a three-story townhouse by the good graces of a tabby-cat who rules the house, the couch, the table, well, basically everywhere. When she's not groveling for forgiveness for neglecting to pet her kitty enough, Riley is strapped in to her writing chair coming up with crazy worlds where she can make her own decisions of when feeding time is and how much coffee can be drank without her friends--of which she has three--holding yet another intervention that they threaten to post on the internet.
