Review: Escaping From Houdini (Stalking Jack the Ripper #3)by Kerri Maniscalco
Escaping from Houdini - Kerri Maniscalco

Syno

Audrey Rose Wadsworth and her partner-in-crime-investigation, Thomas Cresswell, are en route to New York to help solve another blood-soaked mystery. Embarking on a week-long voyage across the Atlantic on the opulent RMS Etruria, they’re delighted to discover a traveling troupe of circus performers, fortune tellers, and a certain charismatic young escape artist entertaining the first-class passengers nightly. But then, privileged young women begin to go missing without explanation, and a series of brutal slayings shocks the entire ship. The disturbing influence of the Moonlight Carnival pervades the decks as the murders grow ever more freakish, with nowhere to escape except the unforgiving sea. It's up to Audrey Rose and Thomas to piece together the gruesome investigation as even more passengers die before reaching their destination. But with clues to the next victim pointing to someone she loves, can Audrey Rose unravel the mystery before the killer's horrifying finale?

My Thoughts

Another great book in the Jack the Ripper series, while I really enjoyed this book, I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first two book in the series. But I think that was because if the setting in this book. I’m not a huge carnival and or ship person fan. I did however greatly enjoy the writing and characters. Of course I still live for Wadsworth and Cresswell and just adore them together. I love how their relationship progresses and their overcome obstacles over obstacles. I love their banter and humor just as much as their sweet moments. While it was not my favorite setting I still liked the suspense and murder mystery we got, like in previous books it keeps us on the edge of the seat and guessing. Some things were pretty easy to foretell buy others came by surprise. I also should say that I enjoyed the audiobook a bit more than the actual books. It just adds a bit more to the story, I have not gotten the audio book for this book but most definitely will soon and listen to it again. I also still think that this series would make a great TV series and I would so be down for that. Overall I enjoyed the book, the writing and most of all the characters and I’m looking forward to the next book.

I rate it 4★

Review: Stalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper #1) by Kerri Maniscalco
Stalking Jack the Ripper - Kerri Maniscalco

Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord's daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life.

Against her stern father's wishes and society's expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle's laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine. When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her close to her own sheltered world.

The story's shocking twists and turns, augmented with real, sinister period photos, will make this #1 New York Times bestselling debut from author Kerri Maniscalco impossible to forget.

As mentioned before somewhere, I stupidly read the second book first not knowing when I started that they connect, I thought it be different cases and different people. BUT I’m soooo happy to report that it did not take away from the experience and fun reading this book. I also should mention that while I listened to the book I also have it in paperback and read along and check out the awesome some creepy pictures in the book.

She must not have mentioned or I missed it who Jack is in book two because to be honest I had no idea… of course I had several ideas throughout reading this book but must say I didn’t expect that. I really liked her writing whole it is technically historical it also is sooo modern and fun to read. Audrey Rose is so much fun. She is strong, funny and won’t let anyone stay in her way…… she also is way ahead in her time. I don’t know what else to say about her other than she has become one of my favorite characters.

Thomas is like the perfect match for her and their bantering is just priceless and yet also very ahead of time. I just loved them and you can tell the chemistry between them is off the charts.

I also really enjoyed her uncle, not only was he rather funny he also supported her in many things and not only the Forensic Pathologist part, which by the way was also super fun to read about. From a time when medicine was still very much new and researched.

I still think this would make an awesome TV show but I also would be worried that they would mess it up…. . Overall and in short I loved this book and the second book and look very much forward to book three. I rate it 5 full ★

Review: Hunting Prince Dracula (Stalking Jack the Ripper #2) by Kerri Maniscalco
Hunting Prince Dracula - Kerri Maniscalco

Following the grief and horror of her discovery of Jack the Ripper's true identity, Audrey Rose Wadsworth has no choice but to flee London and its memories. Together with the arrogant yet charming Thomas Cresswell, she journeys to the dark heart of Romania, home to one of Europe's best schools of forensic medicine...and to another notorious killer, Vlad the Impaler, whose thirst for blood became legend.

But her life's dream is soon tainted by blood-soaked discoveries in the halls of the school's forbidding castle, and Audrey Rose is compelled to investigate the strangely familiar murders. What she finds brings all her terrifying fears to life once again.

First off , I think this book would make a great TV show and I for sure would watch it :D

I started this book knowing it was book two but didn’t think they are connected . For some reason I thought they are following different people and since I didn’t read book one….. yet I started it. I learned pretty early on that I was wrong but I really didn’t care at that point because I just liked it way to much. Plus If didn’t really spoil that much and I really didn’t think the Jack the Ripper book would have a HEA

I usually not a big fan of historical fiction but this one sounded interesting and it was. It was well written, it was fun and kept you guessing. The setting while was great, and I really enjoyed it.

I also loved Audrey, she was a powerhouse for her time, she didn’t let the men put her down no matter what they said or how they treated her.  She was a real trailblazer for the tiimepwriod and that was another thing I enjoyed.  She was also very funny and had many laugh out loud moments on top her sassiness.

I also enjoyed Thomas very much and it seems like her always found trouble somewhere. I LOVED them together, it was funny, sweet , sassy  and of course romantic and  bit scandals for the time period.  It also was spooky and sometimes gross, not overly so that people with weak stomachs couldn’t handle it.  Overall it was soo much fun and I cant wait to actually read the first book lol.

Also after the ending I look very much forward to book three in the series. Over all I read the book 5★ , I listen to the Audio which was fantastic.
