An Irish Attraction by Louisa Masters
An Irish Attraction: Emerald Isle Enchantment - Louisa Masters

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Stop laughing!” Keela demanded, smacking him with a cushion between her own bouts of giggles. “It’s not that funny.”

Flopping back against the sofa, Seamus gasped for breath. “Not that funny? A ghost who lived before the Industrial Revolution wanted to give you the sex talk!”

Castle Tullamore Hotel is a hot spot for supernatural activity, when the owner assigns the senior concierge, Seamus, to assist another paranormal investigator coming to visit, he is none to happy. Keela is not your average investigator though, for one, she can see and communicate with the ghosts. An elevator that can send you on interdimensional travel, matchmaking ghosts, and a budding romance, help make this a short and fun read.

The story starts off with Keela giving validation to the existence of supernatural and paranormal beings, she can see and communicate with them, so the reader gets to just settle into and enjoy the world the author has created, no questioning of what is real in that aspect. I liked the spark and interaction between her and Seamus, their romance moves very quickly (short page count) but their closed door romance added some cute moments and emotion to the story.

The main mystery Keela is there to investigate, a Victorian age elevator that can send its inhabitants time traveling or on an interdimensional journey, started off intriguing. I would have liked Keela and Seamus to have went on a journey and the final reveal of what was truly happening was a very quick, kind of confusing at certain points, info dump feeling of an explanation.

The setting of Castle Tullamore Hotel provided a fun location and seems rife with interesting characters for the author to highlight. There are matchmaking ghosts, a studious library ghost, werewolf bellboys, and many more to wreak havoc with guests. This was just over one hundred pages, you won't get a lot of depth to characters, but if looking for a fun, quick read, this will immerse you in a lively little world.

New Release Review! A Highland Moon Enchantment (Order of the Dragon Knights) by Mary Morgan
A Highland Moon Enchantment (A Tale from the Order of the Dragon Knights) - Mary Morgan

Irish warrior, Desmond O’Quinlan has never surrendered his heart to any woman. He has no wish to have his soul tortured by love. Yet, the moment he locks gazes with Ailsa, his fate is destined for an adventure he never fathomed. He may have battled alongside a Dragon Knight, but his greatest challenge will come from within his own heart.

Ailsa MacDuff, a warrior among her clan, has no desire to have a man chain her to a life of obedience. However, that is before she meets Desmond. The temptation to allow this warrior inside her heart is a risk she dares to take, but one that could lead to a future of emptiness and sorrow.

When betrayal looms from within, the battleground of love is no match for these two warriors. Can the power of a Highland full moon be strong enough to unite or destroy them?

I just love visiting the Order of the Dragon Knights and A Highland Moon Enchantment enchanted me from beginning to end with wonderful characters full of depth and a steamy romance.

Desmond and Alisa make a charming couple full of electricity and charisma that pulls readers in and refuses to let go. Their romance is full of emotional turbulence and fire of a heated attraction that readers can certainly enjoy while the couple face the greatest challenge of their life which of course is one of their hearts making. Alisa is a daring character that I quite enjoyed getting to know because she certainly is not only a warrior but also very much a woman who knows her own heart and mind.

The story is full of thrills and adventure which keeps readers entertained from the very beginning while the author paints some vivid imagery that makes it easy for the reader to get caught up in the historical highland imagery. With danger and betrayals creating unexpected turns in the story, readers easily become engrossed and if they are like me, they will refuse to put the book down until every last world has been read.

A Highland Moon Enchantment is a great addition to the Order of the Dragon Knights series by Mary Morgan and since the Dragon Knights are quite sexy and heat up every page, it stands to reason that any warrior that can stand alongside them would be sexy and make a story well worth reading.

Review: An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson
An Enchantment of Ravens - Margaret Rogerson

A skilled painter must stand up to the ancient power of the faerie courts—even as she falls in love with a faerie prince—in this gorgeous debut novel.

Isobel is a prodigy portrait artist with a dangerous set of clients: the sinister fair folk, immortal creatures who cannot bake bread, weave cloth, or put a pen to paper without crumbling to dust. They crave human Craft with a terrible thirst, and Isobel’s paintings are highly prized. But when she receives her first royal patron—Rook, the autumn prince—she makes a terrible mistake. She paints mortal sorrow in his eyes—a weakness that could cost him his life.

Furious and devastated, Rook spirits her away to the autumnlands to stand trial for her crime. Waylaid by the Wild Hunt’s ghostly hounds, the tainted influence of the Alder King, and hideous monsters risen from barrow mounds, Isobel and Rook depend on one another for survival. Their alliance blossoms into trust, then love—and that love violates the fair folks’ ruthless laws. Now both of their lives are forfeit, unless Isobel can use her skill as an artist to fight the fairy courts. Because secretly, her Craft represents a threat the fair folk have never faced in all the millennia of their unchanging lives: for the first time, her portraits have the power to make them feel.

I picked this book up for two reasons, one, the stunning beautiful cover and all the hyper surrounding this book. It is wildly compared to ACOTAR so I figured having loved those books I would love this just as much. And I really wanted to. But sadly it was just not as great as I thought it was or maybe I just hyped myself up way too much for this book. Either way it was not my favorite book. I defiantly did not hate it but I also did not love it. It was just okay in my opinion.

It had some similarities to A court of Thorns and Roses but really not that many. We have the human world that knows about fairy land , and we have the human girl that does a fae wrong and now must live with them in their land. We have all the different courts but that is also pretty common fae lore.

I enjoyed the characters for the most part, there were only a few times where I got a little annoyed with Isobel, like when she kind of flip- flops back and forth with Rook. She loves him, she loves him not, she loves him  kinda game. But overall she as enjoyable and resourceful and actually kind of funny at times. Rook was hard to pin down at first but that was the intention I think. I also enjoyed him and he made me laugh a lot more with his not understanding humans as much. I also liked Gadfly a lot.

The story had a good pace and kept me wanting more, I also enjoyed the ending.

Overall I liked the book just not as much as I thought given the hype.

I rate it 3 ★
