RELEASE BLITZ ★ The Player Gets Coached

Title: The Player Gets Coached
(Bachelor, #2)
Author: Janet Nissenson
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: October 16, 2018
Cover Designer: Najla Qamber
Designs Hosted by: Buoni Amici Press, LLC.

The Manwhore Versus The Maneater

Finn McManus thrives on his reputation as a player’s player – a term that has nothing to do with his years as a professional athlete. A notorious flirt and ladies man, the handsome, charming retired football player rarely dates a woman more than a few times, and shies away from relationships like they were a contagious disease. And despite his parents’ decades long, blissfully happy marriage, Finn just can’t see himself ever being in the same situation.

Delilah Ferris has acquired her own reputation over the years as something of a maneater. She makes no bones about the fact that she expects to call the shots in the relationship, and that she’ll never be any man’s fool. And when she meets her new neighbor Finn for the first time, she automatically puts him in the same category as her handsome, playboy father – the same father who not only broke her heart too many times to count but broke their family as well. Delilah has always vowed to steer clear of heartbreakers like Finn McManus, unwilling to ever fall victim to his charms.

But when the gorgeous, tempting Delilah quickly becomes the only woman Finn has eyes for, he pulls out all the stops to convince her to go out with him. And if Delilah weakens her resolve and agrees, will she regret her decision sooner than later? Or will the coach finally manage to whip this player into shape?

The Player Gets Coached (Bachelor #2)The Player Gets Coached by Janet Nissenson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is book #2 in the Bachelor series. This can be read as a standalone novel. For reader understanding and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading this series in order.

Finn is disturbed that he is the only one who has not traditionally grown up. He finds a woman he is interested in, and she is a maneater of the skilled kind. How does he show her he can be her match?

Delilah is not impressed by first sighting of Finn. She is not wanting to date a manwhore who can never make up his mind what he wants in a woman. They clash and it is like the player must learn to be played.

This story was pretty slow. The beginning has a lot of back story and the characters are rich and colorful. I enjoyed the banter and the high heat factor. Was a great addition to the series, and a good read.

#PROMOTIONAL_POST - The Girl of His Dreams (Bachelor #1) by Janet Nissenson
The Girl of His Dreams (Bachelor #1) - Janet Nissenson

He was convinced he'd be a bachelor for life. And then he met the girl of his dreams.

Jordan Reeves has fully embraced the carefree, uncomplicated bachelor life, figuring that the poor example he'd been provided by his parents of so-called marital bliss was reason enough to remain single. He's more than content to date one woman after another and never even consider settling down, especially since the only female who's ever seriously caught his attention belongs to another man.

But during a vacation in Hawaii, Jordan unexpectedly meets a woman who could very easily change his mind about the joys of bachelorhood. Aubrey Larson is young, gorgeous, fun-loving, and has a wicked sense of humor to match his own. She's also a dead ringer for the woman Jordan's had an admitted crush on for the past few years, enough to be mistaken for her twin.

Aubrey recognizes the handsome Doctor Reeves as a player of epic proportions the first time they meet, but even her usual disdain for that type of male can't diminish the overwhelming attraction she feels for him. But as their relationship deepens, Aubrey has no idea that becoming involved with Jordan will lead to a startling discovery about her own past, and cause her to question his true feelings for her.

Surprisingly Good read
Stronger - Janet Nissenson
Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

I’m really torn on this book. I want to tell you to definitely read the book but part of be is reserved about that. It’s one of those book that is a good book but also has some negative qualities. Let’s see if I can figure out how I really feel by the end of this review.

First, overall, as a story, it was a good story. The plot was well written and the characters were well developed – for as much as the author wanted them to be. Details and descriptions were on par with a well written story. I applaud the author on all of the technical aspects of the book.

Here is where things get a little fuzzy or hazy to me. First, and you’ll find this one my review on number five, I don’t believe these books should be listed as stand alone. They are all about each individual characters, but there always seems to be a little back story that’s missing. Since I read book 5 I thought maybe that I would be a little bit more well versed into the story. This book was easier to read having some back story, but I still think it would be easier to read all the prior books.

Secondly was the way that the author chose to write the female lead character. I understand the point was for her to overcome her issues and growing as a person, I appreciate that. However, I don’t like the way that the character was “grossly overweight” because she needed to lose 20 pounds. I think that part of the story could have been written a little bit differently.  Maybe I took it a little bit more personal because I’ve battled weight my entire life and maybe other readers won’t. Maybe it will help someone that is struggling but maybe it will push another person struggling that much deeper. I think it’s important to note that the character succeeded in doing what she felt she needed to do to overcome her problems. I also feel I need to note that the author deserves to write the story based on how the characters speak to her. The character was very real and had very real issues of her own that she had to deal with. So I applaud for the way the author made the character very real.

I’ve had a hard time trying to figure out just why I didn’t really enjoy this book. I think it was more personal issues and I didn’t appreciate the way the author chose to handle/tackle the issues the character had. I don’t think the author deserves a bad review or negative criticism for that – so I tried very hard to be sure my rating didn’t lose any points just for that. Since there were some issues with the way the story was written for it to be a stand alone, that’s why I gave it a 4 star. While I can’t recommend this story to you, it was a well written story and the author did a good job.
