#14 Hard to Get by Cynthia Dane and Hildred Billings
Hard to Get - Cynthia Dane,Hildred Billings

3.5/5

This was a really interesting read. Although I'm not usually into these kind of books, I'm tryin to be more open about new adult books and read more of them. This one was free and seemed cool.

It was really great. The relationship between the two main characters was great and the dynamic of the book was well handled, even if I thought it was just a bit too long.

But this book also has a strong message. About relationships between women and the effect it has in our society. It made me think about stuff I don't usually think about. Yes, I care for gay rights, I always have. But I never really thought about how difficult it must be for women, because two women together is a fantasy in many men's minds. And it can be a problem. It is a problem, actually.

Anyway, I'm not here to talk about that too much, but I thought it was impressive how well the subject was handled while being really subtle at the same time. It was not moralizing, but it made me think, and that is great!

Under Her Skin by Alexis Lauren, Stephanie Nicole
Under Her Skin - Alexis Lauren,Stephanie Nicole
What happens when you are the PA to a band member and therefore in close proximity but you hate the man-ho of a lead singer? This book tells you one way it might happen! Lola and Tobias are the main leads in this book with secondary characters thrown in. There are the usual ups and downs with some life threatening parts too.

On the whole, this is a good book with some steam, not too deep and perfect for a rainy afternoon or a lazy evening read. I will be keeping this one to read again for when I have those times that I just don't know WHAT to read!

Wild Blue Yonder (Ceruleans #3) by Megan Tayte
Wild Blue Yonder (The Ceruleans) (Volume 3) - Megan Tayte
In the third instalment of the Cerulean series, we are taken back to where we left off. Now, this was hard for me as the ending of the second book absolutely tore me apart! So I was in no rush to relive through all the pain. However, Megan Tayte managed to take me back so that I could understand Sienna's feelings, without the full blast of emotional torture from before. Sienna wakes up in Cerulea and a whole new way of life. She will take time to adjust, especially when half-truths and bold-faced lies start crawling out of the woodwork.

I love a story when there is a character that I completely loathe!! I mean, with absolutely no redeeming qualities at all. Who keeps you off balance, being nice one moment but you keep waiting for the cutting edge. Well, that is definitely what you get in this book. There is a character just like that, who has more than one secret. I utterly loathed her. And yet, I can't wait to find out more about her, if only to see her carefully constructed world with all her lies fall apart!

One other thing I will mention, is that I was so very happy with out the love triangle between Luke-Sienna-Jude played out. Love triangles aren't really my thing, but this one... I can't think of how it could have gone any other way whilst still have the same impact.

This series is a treat to read, whilst going from strength to strength. Each book is strong, developed, smoothly paced, full of emotion and action. Absolutely recommended by me!

Vernal (The Royal Protector Academy #1) by Randi Cooley Wilson
Vernal: A Royal Protector Academy Novel (The Royal Protector Academy Book 1) - Randi Cooley Wilson
In the first book of Randi Cooley Wilson's new series, you can expect to be blown away just as much as you normally are with her books! If you haven't read any by her before, then you need to go and check them out! Like... immediately!! To be fair, this series will make a whole lot more sense if you have, simply because they feature a storyline and characters from the Revelations series. I could waffle on for months about Revelation and now the Royal Protector Academy series, but I'll try to contain myself to Vernal.

In this book we meet Serena, who is Abby and Callan's daughter; and Tristan, who is Gage's son. Now, something is going on and it involves them both but we don't know what's going on. The connection they have is both instantaneous and flammable! Sparks fly whenever these two are together, but they are both fighting it. During the book, we meet again with Callan, Abby, Keegan, Ash, Gage, Eve and my favourite cupcake, Kenna. It's good to know that these characters remain the same! I won't say anything else about the story as I don't want to spoil it for anyone else.

Randi is well known for dropping a big one in the first book - once again, go and read Revelation if you want to know what I'm talking about. She has done it again, and I must remain hopeful that she will make it all right within their world.

Exceptionally well written, with no editing or grammatical errors that I could see, this book is guaranteed to keep you turning the pages. It should come with a warning that once you start, you won't be able to put it down until you've finished. Then, once you have, you'll want to start it again, just to make sure that you got everything! Absolutely, definitely and highly recommended by me as I wait ever-so-patiently (!) for book 2.
