REVIEW BY MERISSA - Taking Chances: A Male/Male Novella Collection by Robin Covington
Taking Chances: A Male/Male Novella Collection - Robin Covington

Taking Chances is a set of three novellas, all dealing with love where you have to take a chance. All three of these stories are only quick snippets as they are novellas. I do think (and it could have already happened!) that all three could go onto to be a fully fledged novel, rather than a novella.

The stories are all heart-warming in their own way, although there is angst and suspense within each one. The characters are well-rounded, and have their own foibles. There isn't much world-building involved as they are all contemporary, but that just means the focus can be on the characters rather than the scenery.

I enjoyed each story and would definitely read more by this author. Definitely recommended by me.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *

When You Open Your Eyes
When You Open Your Eyes - Robin Covington

Gabe and Ellie were childhood sweethearts. Both enlisted in the USMC with a 4 year contract and planned to get married when done. They each had bad things happen during their military service, leaving both physical and emotional wounds.
This was a novella that really packed a punch. I liked the alternating points of view. It really worked in this novella, to be able to read what both with thinking. I was teary at the end.

About the book:

Tessa Stoneman hasn’t been able to get long-time friend and business partner Nicholas Boone out of her head since they shared a single kiss in college. Even when she dated Nicholas’s best friend. Now that she’s giving up her position at GameNerdz to strike out on her own—and now that she’s single—maybe it’s the right time to see if there’s still something between them.

Nicholas knows once Tessa leaves the company she helped found, they might drift apart. Before she starts her own company in the new year, he wants to woo the woman he fell in love with during college. My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Nick & Tessa met in college and along with one other best friend, started up a now successful business together. Nick has been waiting for his chance with her, patiently, and now is the time.

Tessa is leaving to start her own business. She has been in love with Nick for a while now, and it is hard to see him everyday and know he cannot be hers. Will they take a chance?

This short story was a quick and sexy read. I loved how the characters interacted with one another. It also made me wonder - will we see more of the Damien? Really simple and good read.

Quick Holiday Read
Secret Santa Baby - Robin Covington

Secret Santa Baby by Robin Covington is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time.  Ms. Covington has given us a well-written book.  Tessa and Nick's story is full of drama, humor and spice.  This is a fun, short Christmas story and I loved every page.
