Release Day Review! Hard Pursuit (Delta Force Brotherhood # 3) Sheryl Nantus
Hard Pursuit (Delta Force Brotherhood) - Sheryl Nantus

Trey Pierce has spent years helping the Brotherhood, using his computer skills to dig out secrets and help deliver justice. But there's one mission he's yet to finish–– finding out who killed his best friend. A chance meeting with Ally Sheldon gives him a new lead, one that comes with some baggage.

Executive Ally Sheldon has to find her wayward brother if she wants to save her company. Pretending like nothing is wrong is getting to her. But when the sexy Trey is assigned to her to help her case, focusing on what's most important is difficult.

Never in his life has Trey been more attracted to a woman, but she’s hiding something. And that something may just destroy them.

This is the first book that I have read in the Delta Force Brotherhood series so let first let me tell you that it can be read as a standalone and the author does a great job of arousing reader’s curiosity about all the characters in the Brotherhood and the previous books, so be prepared to want to read them all.  The plot is set at a steady pace with lots of suspenseful events that keep readers glued to the pages and caught up in the events as there are a few twists and turns and Trey’s mission to deliver justice complicates things which adds suspense and emotional drama to the story.

The characters are strong and compelling easily drawing readers in and refusing to let go. The attraction between Trey and Ally sizzles with heat and passion but their romance is an emotionally turbulent one as both characters’ lives are complicated and pull them in different directions and there are quite a few emotional and sensitive choices that add to the suspense of whether this couple will have a happily ever after or not.

I have read other books by Sheryl Nantus but they were of the paranormal variety, so when I saw this one I decided to give it a shot and I was not disappointed. The author brings her world to life with well written words that paints vivid images of her world and characters which it makes it easy for the reader to become caught up in their lives and the plot. I have added the first two books in the series to my TBR and I am looking forward to reading more in this series.

Hard Pursuit is the 3rd book in the Delta Force Brotherhood series.

Rescuing Casey (Delta Force Heroes) (Volume 7)
Rescuing Casey (Delta Force Heroes) (Vol... Rescuing Casey (Delta Force Heroes) (Volume 7) - Susan Stoker

Rescuing Casey harkened back to why I fell in love with Susan Stoker's books. There is danger and mystery along with the deep emotions. Those who aren't fans of insta-love will find this book trying though. Beatle loves Casey after just seeing a picture of her. Personally, I enjoy the insta-love. I like stories where the conflict is external and not between the couple. Many NA books are angsty because the conflict is internal and those stories get emotionally draining. Maybe because I am getting old? Who knows; regardless, I love books like Rescuing Casey where the conflict is external.

Casey is a professor of entomology at The University of Florida. She takes 3 students to Costa Rica for research and they are kidnapped. One of the students is the daughter of an ambassador and when she doesn't call her father, he sounds the alarm. Casey's brother is Blade, one of the men on the Delta Force team. Once he is made aware that his sister is missing, he and his team report to Costa Rica to save her!

The kidnapping and rescue were harrowing enough, but Casey then has to traipse through the jungle, injured, avoid dangerous jungle insects, and escape a second kidnapping attempt. Things don't get easier once they leave Costa Rica either! And throughout the danger and mystery of who kidnapped Casey, you get this building relationship between Beatle and Casey. Plus, you get more of the other Delta Force guys and their wives/girlfriends and more Annie! Rescuing Casey provides a dramatic rescue, a hidden threat, and a love story that is scorching!

  • POV: 3rd
  • Tears: no
  • Trope: military, brother's friend
  • Triggers: Casey is kidnapped and tortured; she is not raped (none of the girls are)
  • Series/Standalone: stand alone within an inter connected series
  • Cliffhanger: no; but there are several snippets to get you interested in the next few stories!
  • HEA: yes, with epilogue

Overwhelming Force by Janie Crouch, Mine to Save by Diana Gardin, Thin Ice by Maryann Jordan...then you will probably like Rescuing Casey!

Take it easy
Big Sky, Loyal Heart: a Henderson Ranch Big Sky romance (Henderson's Ranch #5) - M.L. Buchman

This is book # 5, in the Henderson's Ranch series.  This book can be read as a standalone novel.  While entertaining, the whole make up of the story and characters will make more sense if read in order with the Nightstalkers series as well.

Patrick is learning he loves to be a cowboy.  He had planned to make films, but the best laid plans tend to go awry.  He loves his current job and location.  Now he is falling for someone who may not need him and may not stay.

Lauren is having to adjust being former military.  After disaster struck, she is brought to the ranch to meet some familiar characters.  (Mark & Emily)  We learn that while she is trying to adjust to civilian life just days after discharge.... there may be more options than she is aware of.  Falling for a cowboy was not in the plans but - plans change.

This was such a great read!  I loved having my favorite and familiar characters here.  It felt like home.  I was so pleased to see how some of them were doing after the Night Stalkers series.  This series is great on its own, and has some stellar characters to love also.  I give this book a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Rescuing Rayne (Delta Force Heroes Book 1) - Susan Stoker

Keane AKA "Ghost" is on his way home when he meets the amazing and alluring Rayne.  The night they spend together is epic, to say the least.  Not knowing when or if they will see on another again is frustrating, but in Ghost's job - it really is better that way.

Rayne is totally and completely floored by the way she looks back on her night with Ghost.  He made such an impression on her, she still feels it.  When the worst happens, is him being there a good thing?

Completely impressed with the hot topics found in this book and how they are handled.  You feel the tension rise with each page.  Both in the romance, and in the suspense.  Gripping & compelling, this story will have you wishing you had time to read the whole series right now!  I found the characters charming, and the sexy times really HOT!  I cannot wait to read the next installment in the Delta Force Heroes series.  I give this book a 5/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Rescuing Bryn (Delta Force Heroes)
Rescuing Bryn (Delta Force Heroes) - Sus... Rescuing Bryn (Delta Force Heroes) - Susan Stoker

Rescuing Bryn brings us the story of Dane, aka Fish, a former soldier who lost his arm in battle, and Bryn, a woman on the Autism Spectrum living her life in the wilds of Idaho. These two have very little in common which makes the relationship even more interesting!

Dane has come to the middle nowhere (aka Idaho) to try and get himself together. He is struggling with PTSD and other issues after losing his arm. His friend and savior, Truck, keeps in touch via phone but is worried about Dane. Then, when grocery shopping one evening, he notices Bryn. Bryn has ASD and while she is brilliant and has a couple degrees in very advanced fields of math and science, she struggles with social aspects of society. She is fascinated by Dane, but he is a little touchy when he realizes her attempts to help him.

They don't have a good first meeting but I think it was perfect and believable. You really can see the struggle Dane has with normal tasks, and you can see the struggle Bryn has with people. As they get to know each other better, you begin to see two very fascinating people! Dane is patient and supportive of Bryn, even though he doesn't always understand her obsessions. Bryn is protective and supportive of Dane without making him feel like a freak. Its an odd relationship on the outside, but its perfect!

There is a small bit at the end that has some danger and drama but overall the story is not really about that. Rescuing Bryn is focused on 2 people with differences that make them outcasts in society finding the perfect person! Stoker's books are always character driven and Bryn and Dane's story is no different! I love that Stoker touches on people who are struggling in some way-physical struggles, emotional struggles, etc. Its impossible not to love her characters!

  • POV: 3rd
  • Tears: no
  • Trope: ex military
  • Triggers: none
  • Series/Standalone: stand alone within an interconnected series
  • Cliffhanger: no
  • HEA: yes
