Kindle Children Books Freebie Round Up
Little Miss Crazy Hair - Christopher Garica-Halenar,Alejandro Garica-Halenar,Sophia Jin
Arial the Good Witch: An Unoffical Minecraft Book - Mary Nhin,Jelena Stupar
Halloween Loooong Dog - Jessica Neal

The best of these three is Little Missy Crazy Hair.  Written by the authors for their niece, it is about a young girl and her hair as she decides on various things to do and be.  The illustrations are great - in particular the one with the ballet. (4 stars)

Arial is okay.  The Minecraft illustrations aren't to my taste, but it is a good Halloween story. (3 stars)

Loooong Dog is the worse (2 stars).  There really isn't much too it.

STEM Lab's make learning fun
Unofficial Minecraft STEM Lab for Kids - Chris Fornell Scott,John Miller

This manual helps with aiding in the teaching of Science, using a new way of helping the kids absorb.  While the STEM system is not new, this book shows with 48 projects just how computer games and education can be combined.  If you have not seen this series, you are in a for a treat.

The author's still observe some basics.  They encourage the use of a journal.  Using the popularity of the video game Minecraft, users can gain scientific knowledge.  Making fun  things like glow in the dark items to fireworks.  I loved the lab that was able to be crafted.

Harness the widely enjoyed video game to bring education to students.  This is such a great idea, and a very usable concept.  I was actually excited and at the end, hoping for more projects.  Maybe there will be a volume 2?  I give this guide a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Minecraft Comics: If I Could Turn Back Time (The Adventures Of Big Buddy And Little Buddy Book 2)
Minecraft Comics: If I Could Turn Back Time (The Adventures Of Big Buddy And Little Buddy Book 2) - Fun ny Comics Taking advantage of Minecraft to base stories around is a fairly common thing lately. It leads to some lackluster illustrations in my opinion, but my kiddo rather likes it, so - obviously good for the target audience. The speech bubbles and lettering is nicely done and easy to follow. I liked that this book introduced both time travel and a Rube Goldberg device. That was an unexpected pairing and what talked me into giving the book a shot. It also doesn't shy from introducing readers to words like Australopithecus and then promptly explaining them in a very concise fashion. It doesn't treat the readers like they are idiots, and I truly appreciate that.

Children's Review: Discoveries In The Overworld
Discoveries in the Overworld: Lost Minecraft Journals, Book One (Lost Minecraft Journals Series) - Winter Morgan

So K is into Minecraft and when I saw this book I thought maybe he would enjoy this story. Now this story is not authorized or sponsored by Microsoft Corp and its affiliates as this is written on the back of the book.

Three kids Harriet, Jack and Toby are treasure hunters which is pretty cool and they find this journal but unknown to them until they start reading it that something seemed to have happened to William and his friend Oliver. They are warned not to read this missing journal as bad things will happen but hey who ever listened to warnings. From the time they start reading it things start to happen. They fight skeletons among other things but it all seems to happen when they read something from that journal could it really be cursed? If it is why was it cursed and where is William at? Now the journal is William's account of what Oliver and him went through as explorers of the Overworld. At the end of the story someone is found but will that person have answers?

K really liked it as he knew some of the things that were in the book via the video game and he was very interested to see if William would be found or if the three friends would ever survive. We do plan on getting book two when it is available from the library.

I do like the whole journal idea especially when we go from what is happening to the three friends to the entry of what William and Oliver are seeing and doing. It flows very nicely.
