Recent Release Review! Later Gator (Southern Fried Sass #1 / Love Spells) Julia Mills!
Later Gator - Julia Mills

Welcome to Hairy Wart! Home of the SOUTHERN FRIED SASS DETECTIVE AGENCY and the DRAGONETTES - proof that it's not the size of the scales but the SASS in the flames that makes the Guardsma...ahem, I mean, Guardswoman. Where the Tofu is always Southern Fried and the Soul Food is vegetarian, 'cause it just wouldn't be right to eat your neighbors.

When the mood strikes and the need for change is too strong to ignore, most people move to the big city or the mountains, heck, some even head to the beach.
Not me. No way. That would be way too easy. No L.A., Aspen, or Miami for this Witch.

Hairy Wart, LA, is where I landed.

Not only is it the Southern Fried Tofu capital of the world, but this blink-and-you-miss-it ‘burg with a population of Ninety-nine-point-five, (Do not ask.) and a mayor who happens to be a seven-foot Pink Bunny when the mood strikes, just might be the home of the craftiest chicken-napping, rock-wielding crazy killer I've ever come up against.

To say I have bitten off more than I can chew is like saying the Grand Canyon is a pothole. However, I absolutely refuse to admit defeat. Especially not with Sherriff Sexy Pants dogging my every step and making me all hot and bothered. Whoever said a Gator Shifter can’t make a couple yards of denim really, really happy they became a pair of Wranglers never met Beauregard St. Croix. He takes a bite outta crime in an up close and personal kinda way that I’m liking a little more every day.

With a mighty swish of my wand and my sisters by my side, I have made it my mission to rid Hairy Wart of all things nefarious and make the streets safe for everybody – scaled, furry, feathered, or otherwise. No case too small, no lawbreaker too evil. We’re here to help!

Bubble, bubble, are you in trouble? Not to worry, we'll be there on the double. No need to fear. No need to fret. We're Southern Fried Sass, Baby. We'll save the day, and my friends, you should take that bet.

“Later Gator” is a sassy, spirited read with funtabulous characters that has readers chuckling as they get to know them.

The romance in the story sizzles with lots of chemistry as the couple fight their attraction with lots of snarky comments but the relationship can’t be denied when it is this full of heated passion and sass. The fast paced plot keeps readers on their toes even while it keeps them in stitches as three witch sisters, dragonettes, and gator shifters take on a banished witch and try to save the day.

I have to say that I quite enjoyed my visit to Hairy Wart, LA with its fascinating characters, the quirky town, unusual types of shifters and the “Southern Fried Sass” that went along with it so I am definitely looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Mom of two rockin' girls, Reader of everything, Author of The Dragon Guards series and many more surprises to come!

I am a sarcastic, sometimes foul-mouthed, not afraid to drink a beer, always southern woman with 2 of the most amazing teenage daughters,
a menagerie of animals and a voracious appetite for reading who recently decided to write the storied running through her brain. I read my first book, Dr Suess' Cat in The Hat by myself at 4 and was hooked.

I believe a good book along with shoes, makeup and purses will never let a girl down and that all heroes of all the books I have ever read or will ever write pale in comparison to my daddy! I am a sucker for a happy ending and love some hot sweaty sex with a healthy dose of romance.

I am still working on my story but believe it will contain all of the above with as much SPICE as I can work into it. CHEERS!

Gator wrestling princesses
Princess Academy: The Forgotten Sisters - Shannon Hale

Another excellent entry taking things in an entirely new direction. I praised book 2 for taking (necessary and deserved) revolution and pushing back at all that anger, putting the emphasis on finding connection points and persuading enemies, instead of trying to destroy them. But The Forgotten Sisters pivots to show that sometimes standing up to wrong does mean getting a little savage.

Miri comes full circle as the new royal tutor when she's sent to the swamplands days before her pending betrothal to run the next princess academy for three sisters who are too busy hunting caimans and frogs to learn to read. War is on the horizon, and a political marriage is needed. If Miri succeeds, she can buy back her village and the mine from the king before he sells it to finance the war. If she fails, all the gains her family and friends have made disappear and the country may be overrun. But the secrets on all sides have the potential to change the game entirely.

Entertaining and with surprising heart, as always. Good for middle-grade readers and up.

Audiobook Review: Gator's Challenge (Bitten Point, #4) by Eve Langlais
Gator's Challenge: Bitten Point, Book 4 - Tantor Audio,Eve Langlais,Chandra Skyye

My review and an extended sample of the audiobook are posted at Hotlistens.com.

Gator’s Challenge is the fourth and what appears to be the final book in the Bitten Point series. At minimum, it wraps up the series arc up until this point. So far, we know there is something going on a Bittech and there are weird creatures running a muck in Bitten Point. The issue is that we don’t know who all is involved and exactly what these weird “dinosaur” like creatures. There are also people who keep turning up missing.

Melanie is our heroine in this story. She is a panther and has two children (twin boys). She is married to Andrew, works at Bittech. He has never been much of a husband. Oh, he plays one fairly well when out in public, but behind closed doors, he doesn’t do anything you would call “husbandly”. Melanie settled for Andrew after Wes left her. Wes and Melanie were high school sweethearts, but Wes, being a Mercer, didn’t want to bring Melanie down with his name. Mercer’s are not well liked in Bitten Point.

Wes is the head of security at Bittech. He’s also who the book is titled after, since he is the gator of the book. Wes thought he was doing Melanie a favor by keeping her away from him and his family. He thought she deserved better than him. So instead, she basically became a trophy wife to Andrew, which wasn’t a step up in my opinion. Wes does do some things he isn’t proud of throughout the course of this series, but let’s just say he has reasons. He hasn’t gone down the path of most of the Mercer family. We do also get to meet other people in the Mercer family and I say, judging by Uncle Parker, I don’t really like the Mercer family either.

This was a great wrap up to this series. I loved finally seeing the mystery of Bitten Point come to a nice close, though Eve Langlais left a door open to either continue the series or possibly create another spinoff (like she did with this one from Kodiak Point). This book had a nice romance with high school sweethearts who get a second chance at love, but boy they have to work for it. It also has some action in it. Lastly, you can’t have an Eve Langlais book without humor. That is her trademark. There is plenty of humor in this book, though I think this one is the lightest of the series.

Something dropped from above the door onto the nurse, something lunged at her from the floor, and amidst the screaming—lots of it comparing the twins to satanic imps escaped from hell—Melanie laughed.
“There’s my good boys. Come see Mama.”

**I like to thank the publisher for providing me with a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Gator Bait review
Gator Bait - Adam Howe

Hardboiled noir fiction done superbly, Gator Bait had everything I want in a story of this ilk. A quick-witted if somewhat gullible protagonist, a bad guy oozing menace, and a super hot femme fatale who is the cut of ham between their slices of less than wholegrain bread. And then of course, there's the huge alligator lurking just beneath proceedings ...

Wonderfully written and a joy to speed read through, Adam Howe has won himself a new fan in less than 63 pages with Gator Bait and I cannot wait to sink my teeth into the rest of Die Dog or Eat the Hatchet when I get to it for Horror After Dark.

4.5 Messy Ends for Anyone Who Deserves it for Gator Bait.

Gator Bait Adam Howe
Gator Bait - Adam Howe

"Adam Howe's Gator Bait is a steamy, disquieting piece of bayou noir that you can't help but eat all in one sitting. It won't settle your stomach, but it will stay with you long after you've digested it.

Right off the bat with a massive bite this book is Swamp Noir set in the 1930s I could feel the humidity coming off this book. Set somewhere in the deep Louisiana swamp in a dingy speak easy ((I don't even know if they had them in the swamps, but just go with me here.)) is the Grinnin Gator. Were sawdust on the floors and moonshine is plenty. It was somewhere John Smith needed to be after he was sworn off dames for life.

An awesome tale of southern Dirty stinking swamps noir at its finest just watch out for Mister George though he's a mean fucker.
