Temporary
Convincing Cole - Jaclyn Quinn

Cole has moved back to his hometown with the best friends of a lifetime.  Now that he is here, however, finding someone to appreciate him as he is may prove difficult.  Until he gets the surprise he never saw coming.

Aiden has grown up with Cole, though he has family problems of his own.  Making a name for himself by going out on his own with his bar - he takes chances others won't.  Then one night he takes the riskiest change yet.

These men are so good together it is almost too sweet for words.  I love the comraderies and friendships that bring humor, love, and joy in this story.  The heat is also turned all the way up as the unexpected sparks and keeps the fire burning bright.  Could not finish this one fast enough.  I give this a 5/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Convincing Secretary (Ava March)
Convincing the Secretary (London Legal) - Ava March
3.5 stars

At first, I was a bit confused because what I could remember (a little bit) about Edward in the previous book didn't match Edward that I met in this one. Somehow I thought Edward was a little more forward -- in the end of my review for Convincing Leopold, I wrote "I definitely look forward to the upcoming release in this series that features Fenton, Arthur's rake of a secretary." -- so clearly I didn't see Edward as meek or shy. Even if my memory was clouded with how jealous Leopold saw Edward.

Then I decided to throw all of my initial perceptions (and expectation) to the wind... and it became much better. Yes, the relationship happened pretty fast, and there was that trope of misunderstanding which drove our men shortly apart... BUT, I wasn't too annoyed. I was even able to enjoy the numerous sex scenes with the D/s tone because hey, when I was in the mood for it, D/s could be my kink (as long as both parties enjoy it and there isn't too much pain/humiliation to it).

So yeah, it is likable, the kind of steamy stories coming from Ava March.

Convincing Leopold (Ava March)
Convincing Leopold - Ava March
Review for the 2nd Edition

Three months into their relationship -- after the ending in Convincing Arthur -- and we found Arthur and Leopold trying to find balance and working their relationship. Unfortunately, this was also the case of two men who couldn't actually speak what they actually thought or felt and ended up causing problems.

For Arthur Barrington, who still bears the scars after his break-up of a decade relationship, he wonders if Leopold is eager to return to his freedom, that he will find Arthur a bore, especially because sometimes Arthur just wants a good night sleep with his lover, rather than another adventurous sex romps. While Leopold, who has been spending the last decade being a notorious rake with various lovers, thinks that Arthur will not find him good enough, and he can only think of one way to reassure Arthur of his affection, by pleasing Arthur in any way he can (which mostly means sex).

Argh, you two!!!! *clonked both men's heads together*

Since this is a novella, they finally settled things out rather quickly -- which was fortunate, because if this was a novel length, I would be very frustrated indeed. I did find myself a bit miffed with Arthur because I wasn't sure if he could actually appreciate Leopold. Leopold told him that he has been loving Arthur for the past decade and still Arthur acted a bit too uptight towards Leopold.

Having said that, Ava March's writing was good and the steamy level was probably enticing for a lot of M/M readers. While for me, this might not be a strong sequel (the ending lacked the punch of the first book) but it was still a nice MM regency to read.

I definitely look forward to the upcoming release in this series that features Fenton, Arthur's rake of a secretary.

Convincing Arthur (Ava March)
Convincing Arthur - Ava March
Review for the 2nd Edition

3.5 stars

Ten years ago, Leopold Thornton missed his chance to tell his friend Arthur Barrington how he felt. Trying to forget Arthur, Leopold practically drowns his sorrow by building up his reputation as notorious rake, whose dalliances are not limited to the female gender. Now, after Arthur and his lover separated, Leopold plans to convince Arthur to finally give him a chance, and invites the solicitor to come to his house at Yorkshire...

I haven't read the original edition of this short novella, so I wouldn't know what changes that have been made. To be honest, I wasn't impressed with the first third quarter of the book. Since the book opened immediately to the present time, as Leopold waiting for Arthur to arrive at Ramsey House, I missed the relationship built up. So Leopold has been keeping a deep feeling for Arthur for the past ten years? But I didn't feel that, you see? I couldn't really understand how and why Leopold falling for Arthur. I didn't feel their friendship ten years ago.

Then I wasn't in empathy for his plan to convince Arthur is by pleasure of the flesh. I have never been a believer of that sex would be the answer to long lasting companionship and relationship. Maybe it is because of my asexuality. Maybe it is because of the Indonesian (Asian) culture that is not very sexual society (at least in public). But could you really stay with your partner only for the sex? I think I skimmed this book after the third sex scenes. If I am a judge and jury of this relationship, Leopold will not win his case.

... until the last two chapters, where Leopold finally stripped his heart bare to win Arthur's heart once and for all. Those two chapters were like punches to my gut, it was emotionally raw and painfully honest. I admit that I choked up a little bit at that moment *sniff*. It was the best part of this story for me, and rest assured I will be there for the follow-up.

My Thoughts - 3 out of 5 Unicorns - I liked it!!!
Convincing the Cougar: A Cascade Shifters Short Story - Jessie Donovan,Hot Tree Editing

The cover is …well I’m torn.  I love the cat and the mountains, but something about the male model that I’m not liking.  I’m sure it is just me, but he looks sick or something.  Anyways I do love the cat a whole lot :)

Okay this is only about 40 or so pages, so it isn’t too long.  This not my favorite of Jessie’s work, but I think this series will get better.  There was just not enough for me to connect to the world and characters.  I don’t mind the steamy scenes, but some may think it is the main focus of this story.  I only tell you to help you decide if this story is for you.  I can definitely see promise in this series and can’t wait to read the next book as it is a full length novel, and I think I will connect better having more :)  You have the added benefit of getting this story for free.  I actually bought it before it became free :)

I think if you love steamy shifter short stories for a quick read, then you will love this :)  And it is free, so why not try it :)
