Release Blitz w/Review - Royce

Royce by USA TODAY bestselling author Kat Mizera is available now!

Just because opposites attract, doesn’t mean they belong together...

Professional hockey player Royce Lenahan is no stranger to chaos. He grew up surrounded by it, so as an adult he likes things nice and orderly: His apartment, his hockey schedule, even his dates. When his best friend and teammate asks him to take his visiting sister to a rock concert, he isn’t expecting the sultry, leather-clad vixen that has his jaw dropping.

Force of nature Kristina Papadakis feels like two separate people sometimes: The demure, proper Greek girl she was raised to be, and the badass rock musician she could be. She’s never had a problem keeping her worlds apart until her brother’s straight-laced but oh-so-hot teammate stumbles into both of them, creating a collision she wasn’t looking for.

As Royce and Tina explore an unexpected but undeniable passion, they soon discover that love isn’t always enough. Opposites might attract, but they’ll have to learn to compromise if they want to last. Royce has to be willing to give up control long enough to tame Tina’s gypsy soul, before she wanders away for good.

Las Vegas Sidewinders: RoyceLas Vegas Sidewinders: Royce by Kat Mizera
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book #10, in the Las Vegas Sidewinders series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. To avoid spoilers, and to enjoy and understand the series, I recommend reading this series in order.

Royce is a professional hockey player who likes things to be just so. What he never sees coming is the little sister of his best friend. She is all woman and he has no problem taking notice.

Kristina is a proper Greek girl, at least some of the time. Other times, she is a real rock guru and future star. She notices Royce after an incident that they both barely make it through. She also notes how much more of a gentleman, and what a caring individual he can be.

This was such an amazing book. I loved getting to know these characters. No one expects either of them to come out of their comfort zones - so it was awesome to read about! There are some familiar characters you will see in this story as well. Never disappointed with this great series.

About the Author:

Kat Mizera is a South Florida native. Born in Miami Beach with a healthy dose of wanderlust, she’s called Los Angeles, Long Island, upstate New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Atlanta home. She’s never been able to pick which locale is her favorite, but if pressed, she’d probably choose the west coast.

Kat’s a typical PTA mom with a wonderful and supportive husband (Kevin) and two amazing boys (Nick and Max). When she’s not writing, she’s either scrapbooking or indulging in her second love (after writing) – traveling. Greece is one of her favorite places in the world. She loves that Athens is a big city with a small-town feel. The food, beaches and culture keep her going back as often as possible. She hopes to retire there one day so she can spend her days writing books on the beach. Kat has been a working freelance writer for nearly 30 years. She sold her first article–a review of a rock concert–for $10 in 1985. Since then she’s been an entertainment journalist, waitress, bartender, legal assistant, food critic, magazine editor, substitute teacher, and sports writer. She also spent some time working at A & M Records in Los Angeles.

As you can guess from her series, the Las Vegas Sidewinders, Kat loves hockey. She is also a freelance hockey writer, covering her favorite team, the Florida Panthers, and any other teams that have an interesting story. The rest of the time, she writes novels: sexy, romantic fiction that she hopes makes you as happy as it makes her. There’s something enticing about hockey players and romance…

Jax

I’m a virgin, but I don’t want to be. I just want to get it over with, so I made a list. I held interviews. (I know, I’m a total Type A.) The winner is Sebastian Rathbone. Grade A Beefcake who plays defense for the Grizzlies’ Rugby team. Manwhore extraordinaire. So basically, a professional.

The problem? My best friend, Matt. For some reason, he wanted me to pick him. I’d never choose him because then I’d fall in love and I remember the hell that was middle school. Now that he’s grown into his head and feet, and he is by definition also Grade A Beefcake, there’s even less chance he’d ever feel more than friendship for me. Why put myself through that? I thought I’d locked all of that away until a game of Spin the Bottle makes me doubt everything. Especially the lie I’ve been telling myself about not being in love with my best friend.

Matt

Sebastian Rathbone? Dude. No way. He’s not a bad guy, but he’s not the guy for Jax. If anyone knows the guy for Jax, that’s me. It hurts I wasn’t even consulted. Actually, what bothers me the most is that she didn’t ask me to be the one. To punch her V-Card, I mean. I’m pretty good at what I do, or so I’ve been told. It should be a good memory. Something special. And lemme tell you, Rathboner isn’t going to make it special for anyone. I don’t like it that there’s this part of her she’s going to give to someone else, but I guess I have to get right with it. I’m the best friend. Not the lover. Except when faced with losing her, I’ll have to take a spin on chance just one more time.

Spin the Bottle (Fast Times at Ridgemont Hall Book 2)Spin the Bottle by Sara Wylde
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is book #2, in the Fast Times At Ridgemont Hall series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. For reader understanding of the series and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading in order.

Jax and Matt have been best friends. They are close and tell one another everything. When she tells him she is ready to lose her V card, he loses it. Confesses to her she should choose him. She never thought this was an option and just had not considered this.

Matt is frustrated that Jax has a plan to be intimate with another man. He has been lusting over his best friend lately and feels they need to talk about the options. She just is not in the same place. So he has to have a plan......

This is a fun and quirky approach to the best friends become lovers. Each person is quite independent, and must seriously consider if this is a move they want to make. The characters have good banter, and the book goes at a good pace. If you need to feel good and get a smile, this is the right pick me up for you.

About the Author:

Sara Wylde is the crackfic! contemporary pen name for PNR/UF author Saranna DeWylde. She rather imagines that all the pen names live in the same dorm in her head and frequently have discussions that look and sound something like an episode of Herman's Head.
