I had a hard time getting into this one. They were already mate-claimed when it starts and they had a lot of starts and stops in the passion department and every time they turned it off like it was no big deal, which made it and them hard to believe. Also, they are best friends and have been for 20 years or so; and yet, they don’t know they love each other until much later into the book, and act surprised when they acknowledge it internally to themselves. I don’t get that. It was obvious from the start they loved each other, respected each other, depended on each other, wanted each other in their lives, yet they were unsure whether they loved each other? It didn’t make sense. She also sometimes came across as if she teased him with the mate bond, strung him along and he was ok with that when we find out later he knew she was his mate of his heart from the moment they met 20 years ago. It didn’t add up. I did like returning to New Orleans and to Jasmine’s haunted house. Loved every scene at the house. The excursion into Faerie was exciting and the conflict was good, I just didn’t like how the relationship developed. I think I would have much preferred if from page one they acknowledged their love and mate bond and went into the story already an established couple.
The New York Times bestselling author of Guardian's Mate returns to the world of the Shifters and a tale of a new love under fire...
A man is only as strong...
Red wolf Shifter Dimitri has fought his whole life for respect. It is claimed that red wolves are tainted with coyote blood and therefore not pure. He may not be skilled at verbally defending himself, but because he's a bodyguard, tracker, and champion of the fight clubs, his fists are always ready for some rough and tumble. However, he'd prefer a roll in the hay with the woman who is his oldest friend.
...as the woman who's got his back...
A spirited leopard Shifter and a fellow tracker, Jaycee Bordeaux has no problem forging a mate bond with Dimitri, but soon the two are called to infiltrate a rogue group bent on enslaving Shifters. Jaycee may have defended Dimitri from taunts before, but they now face a more lethal danger--one that threatens not only the future of their people, but also their love.
I just went on another exciting adventure with shifters from Jennifer Ashley’s Shifters Unbound series. This time I joined Jaycee and Dimitri as they went undercover in New Orleans and I must say that Dimitri is quite sexy and charming but definitely an alpha wolf and he met his match in Jaycee because she is one tough, take no prisoners feline. These two strong, captivating shifters led each other on a fiery and feisty mating dance which was full of sizzling chemistry and sultry passion as well as snark and fun all while in the enemy’s sights. They certainly kept things interesting throughout their courtship which just made me love them more.
The action and thrills were steady to fast paced throughout my adventure and let me tell you, some of it was downright scary, especially going through gateways and ending up in the fae’s backyard and the fights between our shifter warriors and the deluded shifters and the power hungry fae and then there was plotting going on with lots of twists so I was kept guessing whether Ben (bear shifter) was the bad guy everyone thought he was.
I just love reuniting with some of my other shifter friends from this series as well as making new ones, so I like to visit quite often and Red Wolf was definitely an exciting chance to do just that as the shifters and a couple of fae friends made sure that there was never a dull moment to be found and I just had stick with Jaycee and Dimitri until the very end. I can’t wait till I can visit this fascinating and wonderful world again to find out what unexpected adventure I find myself participating in.

Tiger Striped - Jennifer Ashley
I love coming back to this world! Tiger and Carly had their own full-length novel in Tiger Magic and this is just a snippet of what life has been like for Tiger. When Tiger receives a distress call from heaven-knows-where, he and Carly (and the always fun Connor Morrisey) rush to help.
In just a few pages we get to enjoy Carly and Tiger’s strong love bond at work, a high-speed chase, human-shifter interaction, and of course the promise of more to come. And that twist at the end was just perfect! I totally recommend it whether you’re new to the series or a long-time fan.

Red Wolf is gripping, exciting, nerve wracking, and had me falling more in love with this series. I relished this installment.
Jaycee is strong, capable, and reluctant to accept the mate claim. Dimitri is strong, sexy, and has a stutter which only adds to his character. The reluctant’s that Jaycee has was handled well and the stutter only added to Dimitri’s unique character aspect. The romance is sweet and these two worked well together.
I absolutely loved returning to the sentient house. We got a small taste of this unique house in Wild Things, so to come back and see more. It was fabulous. We also get to go to fairy and that aspect was exhilarating and the danger is heart stoping.
Red Wolf was crafted together superbly and is a breathtaking addition.
