Edible (Exquisite Series)
Edible (Exquisite Series) - Ella Frank
Impromptu BR with Susan.

2,5 stars

I have this challenge; reading 12 non MM-books this year.

Having read the Temptation Series about Logan and Tate, I jumped to this opportunity to read about Logan’s brother Cole and Rachel.

I tried, I really tried to like this.

I did some extended research for casting image

Cole and Rachel (Husband and wife in real life)

image

I did some pretty good updates, if I say myself image

In the beginning I was even liking the sexual tension between these two, so I was on the role!!

image

But then the plot…..
There wasn’t any… Insta love and sex all the time and I mean ALL the time..

image

Quotes like;
“….. Or your greedy little pussy will stay hungry and empty”

“His throbbing length finally pushed into her needy pussy and staked it’s claim.”

PLEASE!!!!

And the getting married after “knowing” each other a week!!
I mean, what is that?

The thing what I did like was the appearance of Cole. Cole having, tattoo’s and nipple pearcings and a “Prince Albert” Me likey..

Rachel had some too… yeah, yeah!!

Oh and of course I liked Logan in it!!

Still have 10 non MM books to read this year, but I think I’ll stick to YA/Dystopia MF furthermore.. No MF erotica for me anymore!!

Kudo’s to my partner in crime Susan!! We sure had a blast in this buddy-read and we did it, girl

Edible (Exquisite Series)
Edible (Exquisite Series) - Ella Frank BR with M/M partner in crime, Elsbeth. We are not doing this again!I will read every M/M book there is with you, but no more M/F.

I am still a bit traumatized from all that

image

But we did it.
image

image

This relationship made no sense at all. Cole meets Rachel, he says he wants her, no other introduction necessary apparently, they have sex. Then they have more sex and more sex. And after one week:

image

And this at the end of that same week.

image

The end.

Now I am going to drown myself in M/M books. With lots of man on man action.

image

And if anyone ever mentions the word
image
again, I will run away screaming.

PS, part of my rating is because I am not a big fan of M/F, but even if I was this was just too much sex without a decent foundation to build the rest of the relationship on. I think it would have gotten 3 stars if I wasn't such a big M/M addict.

Oh and don't get me started about the LACK OF CONDOMS in this book.

Best Bakers, Pastry Chefs, Confectionnerais , Cake Artists and Chocolatiers in Romance
Her Mad Hatter - Marie Hall

Edible (Exquisite Series) - Ella Frank
The Chocolate Rose (Amour et Chocolat, La Vie en Roses) - Laura Florand
The Lawman Takes a Wife - Anne Avery
Marriage of Mercy - Carla Kelly
Deeper - Robin York

My favorite food is cake and that is in rough and tumble competition with bread.  I have mad pie making skills. I hate cooking. It is too useful.

Here are some of my favorite romance novels with sugar, yeast, chocolate, flour, frosting and all the other good things in life.  My apologies to the gluten intolerant.

In no particular order as usual!

1. Her Mad Hatter by Marie Hall Alice runs the Mad Hatter's Cupcakery and Tea Shoppe

2. Deeper: A Novel by Robin York  West works overnight a bakery. These scenes are wonderfull.

3. Mine at Midnight by Jacquie D'Alessandro  Party Planner and and an Accounts make out with cupcakes. Enough said.

4. The Chocolate Rose by Laura Florand Chocolatiers I love this series beyond reason.

5. Marriage of Mercy by Carla Kelly Donuts to the British Isles.

6. Tart by Lauren Dane Juliet Lamprey and her yummy bakery.

7.  Sweet Inspiration by Penny Watson  Son of Santa and master pastry chef!

8. Howl for It by Shelly Laurenston  Pie! Pie! and Wolf Shifters!

9.  Cover of Night: A Novel by Linda Howard Muffins to die for!

10.  Savor the Moment: by Nora Roberts  Wedding cakes. Yeah.

I did a ton of obsessive research for this list. It was so awful. Not. I tried to find all the romance novels in existence with this theme. I am sure I haven't but here are some I have not read yet that look very good. So, I had to break my one click finger not buy them RIGHT NOW basically...

1. Sweetened With a Kiss  by Lexxi Callahan Fresh from pastry school in Paris

2. Fool for Love: A Cupcake Lovers Novel  by Beth Ciotta  Cupcake Lovers Club

3. The Marquess of Cake by Heather Hiestand  Redcake's Tea Shop and Emporium.

4. Hold Me If You Can by Stephanie Rowe Candy-maker Natalie Fleming has a magical gift. Her sweet treats can cure erectile dysfunction. Yep. And demons are after her!

5. Some Like It Hot  by Louisa Edwards New York pastry chef Danny Lunden

6. Edible by Ella Frank Desserts of all kinds

7. Sleeping With The Entity by Cat Devon Heavenly Cupcakes and Vampires

8.  The Lawman Takes a Wife by Anne Avery Candy Counter

9. The Matchmaker by Lisa Plumley Molly Crabtree and her bakery

10. Lucky Like Us by Jennifer Ryan Bakery owner

Did I miss your favorite? Gimme! Gimme!

I made a massive Pinterest Board, Best Bakers, Pastry Chefs, and Chocolates in Romance, to go with this post. You must check it out! Not only is there even more romances with this theme but the best Bakers, Pastry Chefs, Cake Artists, Chocolates, and more sweet makers around the world are pictured there. Maybe one of them is near you! And you can, you know, eat.

Also, there are some really, really, really, divine looking ladies and fellas in this profession.

I am not usually so shallow but in some cases I gulped and had to put my tongue back in when I saw some of these photos as I looked for images of the best of the best in the sweet arts.

Here are some names:

1. Jean-Christophe Novelli, Tea Green in Hertfordshire,  Novelli Academy

2. Ruby Tandoh, Great British Bake Off

3. Chad Roberstson, San Fransico's Tartine Bakery & Cafe

4. Phoebe Lawless, Scratch, Durham, North Carolina

5. Jonathan Day, 'El pan de la chola', Lima, Peru

Edible (Exquisite Series)
Edible (Exquisite Series) - Ella Frank Oh. My. Goodness.

I adored Rachel throughout this series and I was sure that her book was going to be a good story, but bleedin heck, I was not expecting that. There is so much I want to say but it's just all too much.

image

I'm just going to state for the record that Cole did not do it for me in 'Entice' I was not at all excited about him. Thought he was stuffy and rigid and a total control freak. I will also state that I know absolutely nothing. (books and covers people, books and covers).

Every week I fall in lust at least once with a fictional character. The lust lasts until the next book and it is infatuation after infatuation. It's never been love. This is love. As is only fair I have informed my boyfriend that should Cole ever show up I will be forced to leave and live a life of debauchery while only consuming caramel and wine.

Cole. Who knew? I didn't see it coming. Who could? A stuffy lawyer in an expensive suit.

But there was so, so much more. He is alpha. He is strong. He is loyal. He is caring. He is kind. He is trustworthy. He is all kinds of sexy. He is clever. He reads. He loves his mam.

And under that suit. Oh boy under that suit.

The tattoos

And then the piercing's
image

Just YUM.

Some Cole quotes: (I swear to all that is divine this man is a God)

"Remember this moment, Rachel, because I don't plan to forget it until you're screaming my name so loudly that every single person within a ten-mile radius knows what it fucking is."

"Whenever you are waiting for me, always wait as though I'm above you and about to slide inside you. Always be ready for me."

"Uh, would you mind if we had this conversation after I'm dressed?"
"Yes, I do mind. I actually prefer you naked."

image

I also must mention Mason and Rachel's dad. Catherine (their mum) was an amazing lady and I mentioned how great I thought she was in my 'Exquisite' review but they also had a pretty awesome dad. I loved the way he was with Rachel, I actually loved how they all allowed her to be herself from a young age. The scenes with him were all beautiful. 'My Girl' brought a tear to my eye.

This was a lovely moment between them that included Mason:

"Someone said something about her hair."
Rachel felt her dad pull away from her. He reached over to wipe a tear from her face, but she turned away, so she could glower at her brother.
"And what could they possible say about hair that looks so..." He paused as though he was trying to think of the right word. "Sweet?"
"Sweet?" Rachel squeaked.
Mason couldn't help but laugh.
"Yeah." Their father nodded. "Like...like cotton candy."
"Oh, Dad." Rachel finally laughed as she hugged him. "Thank you, but that doesn't really help."
"Well, you're laughing," he pointed out before looking back and forth between the both of them.
"Never let someone make you feel like you are not the best version of yourself. You hear me?"

Loved this series. Ella Frank rocks.
