Blind the Eyes is competing in Kindle Scout - Please Vote :)
Blind the Eyes - K.A. Wiggins

I have a YA dark fantasy debut coming out this summer and it's currently competing in Kindle Scout. If you go to https://kindlescout.amazon.com/p/E9IM6GHX3YIJ and nominate it and it wins, Amazon will send you a free preview copy before it releases to the general public!

So if you're at all interested in the book (or just want to help a newbie out!) please vote. :)

A little more on Kindle Scout:

  • Kindle Scout is the American Idol of publishing
  • Readers vote on pre-published books during a 30 day period
  • Editors read the manuscripts at the end of voting
  • Amazon publishes the best of the combined editor- and fan-approved books in ebook format
  • Amazon sends a free ebook to everyone who voted for (“nominated”) a book that gets published!

So if you want a chance to get a free copy of BTE, head on over to the Kindle Scout website, nominate it and hope it wins! And hey, why not vote for some other faves while you’re at it? You get up to three nominations at a time.

A little more about Blind the Eyes:

In a world where hope kills and dreams are deadly, obedience is the only way to survive. But when one girl learns her society's absolute control and guarantee of safety are both illusions, she risks her hard-won status, her home and her life to rebel and expose its lies.

A YA dark fantasy about identity, trauma & taking back your choices. Ghosts and world monsters in post-eco-disaster Vancouver.

From the back cover:

In the Towers of Refuge, regulation dictates every aspect of life.

Haunted 17-year-old Cole would do anything to shake her reputation as a failure. The only way to survive the nightmarish Mara is absolute obedience, and she's down to her last chance.

But when a charismatic stranger shows up claiming to know her and Cole discovers Refuge's absolute control and guarantee of safety are both illusions, she realizes hers isn't the only life at stake and goes on the run.

In the underground club Freedom, nothing's forbidden.

Cole needs allies to help her expose Refuge's lies and escape execution by nightmare. Too bad the only candidates are a hedonistic rebel, a childish ghost, a stylist with a secret and an imaginary friend with a talent for monster-hunting.

With enforcers in pursuit and the dead invading her dreams, Cole must figure out who to trust and stop the dying before the nightmares eat her alive.

Trusted authorities lie, allies have their own agendas, and even the monsters wear masks in this YA dark fantasy suitable for ages 14 and up. Ebook, audiobook and print editions coming in late spring 2018. Subscribe at https://kaie.space/newsletter for exclusive previews and extended content.

Blind Justice
Blind Justice - Bruce Alexander

This is unusual in historical mysteries that I’ve read in that the detective is a real historical figure. Sir John Fielding was a magistrate and social reformer. The book itself is told as reminiscences of a fictional servant boy. I’ll probably try reading at least the next book.

"Supernatural London from a Blind POV: The wonders of Elizabeth Watasin's MEDUSA"

Thanks Anne E Johnson for the feature on MEDUSA!

"Today's guest author was determined to see her fictional world through her character's eyes, or, more accurately, through her character's other four senses. Elizabeth Watasin's Medusa features the romantic adventures of a blind woman in an alternative Victorian London. Intrigued? Read on!"

It was nice to write about this, I have a great fondness for Elvie and her story. :)

About Blind Date Bride

Nearly a decade ago, accountant Kari Parker shed 220 pounds of dead weight — her hulking, abusive college boyfriend. The last thing she wants in her life is another man — especially one as tall as a Windy City high rise. Yet when her best friend enters her in Romance TV’s “Get a Love Life” contest, another man is exactly what she gets. As much as she'd love to just say no, she can't turn down the prize money that will allow her to help her parents save the restaurant they've run all her life. Sparks fly between Kari and her bogus groom, and as she and Damien share close quarters, intimate meals and — gulp — his bed, Kari doesn’t stand a chance of resisting his considerable charms. Even worse? She might not want to. But building a real future out of their sham marriage will be tougher than baking a wedding cake from scratch … with no flour … in a broken oven.

Excerpt:

“Will you, Kari Amber Parker, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?” For a moment, Kari couldn’t reply. She couldn’t breathe, let alone form the response that would bind her to this giant of a man for life — or at least for now. Then she remembered everything that would happen if she didn’t go through with it: even more public humiliation, a massive bill for the wedding and reception, and her parents losing the restaurant they’d been running since before she was born. She took a deep breath and whispered the words, “I will.” “And will you, Damien Kyle Walker, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?” “I will.” His voice didn’t have even the slightest waver. It rang out as calm and sure as it would be while ordering his favorite meal, whatever that might be. He sounded like he actually meant his vow — for the rest of their lives, not just for the next few months. It would be nice to have so much confidence, she thought. She was never that sure of herself, unless it was in her work. That was the great thing about accounting; there was only one correct answer. You simply tallied up the numbers, and as long as you didn’t enter any of them wrong, you always came up with the right answer. “It’s time to exchange rings,” the minister intoned. A few seconds later, a band of gold joined the network-provided diamond solitaire engagement ring on her left ring finger, proclaiming her status as Mrs. Damien Walker to the world. She had just a second to stare at the gaudy jewelry, wondering how she’d manage to live with this stranger, before the minister announced, “You may now kiss the bride.” Dutifully, Kari turned her face upward and pursed her lips. **** Damien looked down at his bride, who obviously expected a peck on the lips, and the devil in him prodded him to make their first kiss much more than that. First, he put his hands on his lovely new bride’s waist and pulled her against him. Then he lowered his lips to hers. Instantly, heat flared between them. His fingers tightened their grip on her hips, and his tongue pushed past her lips, demanding entrance into the moist heat of her mouth. When her lips opened on a soft moan, his tongue swept inside. Then he was lost. Waves of desire washed over him and his hands dropped to her bottom, settling her even more firmly against him. His tongue thrust deeper into her mouth, imitating the sex act he suddenly wanted to be engaged in. Damien had no idea how long they stood there, bodies melded together and mouths locked in a kiss, before he felt a tap on his shoulder. “Slow down, buddy,” Cody advised quietly, “before you eat the poor girl alive.” He released his hold on Kari. What the hell had gotten into him? How long had it been since he’d found himself overpowered by desire in the blink of two beautiful brown eyes? Actually, he couldn’t ever remember it happening before. He didn’t kiss women he’d barely met as if he’d known them — in the biblical sense — for years. He was lucky she hadn’t slapped him silly. Because that was exactly how he’d kissed Kari, as if they both knew they were destined to do the mattress mambo as soon as possible. And that was patently ridiculous, even if she was his wife. He wasn’t the kind of guy who jumped into bed with the first warm, willing woman who crossed his path. Not anymore, anyway.
