INKSLINGER BLOG TOUR Most Ardently by Susan Mesler-Evans

Today we have the blog tour of Susan Mesler-Evans Most Ardently! Check it out and be sure to grab your copy today!

Title: Most Ardently

Author: Susan Mesler-Evans

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About Most Ardently:

Elisa Benitez is proud of who she is, from her bitingly sarcastic remarks, to her love of both pretty boys and pretty girls. If someone doesn’t like her, that’s their problem, and Elisa couldn’t care less. Particularly if that person is Darcy Fitzgerald, a snobby, socially awkward heiress with an attitude problem and more money than she knows what to do with.

From the moment they meet, Elisa and Darcy are at each other’s throats -- which is a bit unfortunate, since Darcy’s best friend is dating Elisa’s sister. It quickly becomes clear that fate intends to throw the two of them together, whether they like it or not. As hers and Darcy’s lives become more and more entwined, Elisa’s once-dull world quickly spirals into chaos in this story of pride, prejudice, and finding love with the people you least expect.

I loved the direction this one went, I love how inclusive it was with lesbian, bi, trans; and biracial characters. I also really liked the changes in the characters. In some of the early reviews some of the things they nitpicked about were the things I liked. I like the changes to the Colin and Lydia characters there is nothing wrong with making them more likeable especially since I really hated the original characters. I loved the updatedness it worked well. I was worried how the Lydia, or in this case Lucia, was going to play out but she did exactly what I had always hoped would happen to Wickham. He has always been a money hungry pervy creep and it was nice to see actually portrayed in this manner.

Now the main character Elisa Benitez, Elizabeth Bennet, is a bi-sexual Mexican American and while technically is still a high school student goes to school at the local community college which is where she meets Darcy Fitzgerald. Darcy a biracial cis lesbian who is just visiting but is staying long enough she fills her time with some college classes before she starts at the university. Their first meet as you can guess is argumentative, they get into a literary debate over Lord of the Flies. It doesn't get any better when they just happen to start running into each other in social situations. It plays out pretty much the same as the original except updated for modern American times, except for the slight personality changes in Colin and Lucia. It's a little bit more obvious to the reader that Darcy and Elisa like each other but Elisa is a little oblivious.

Overall, such a good read. I inhaled this book I didn't want to put it down. It's in third person POV but sometimes changes from over Elisa to Julieta, Charlene, Lucia, and Darcy. It is more of a romance than a social commentary but had there been more I can just hear how people would be complaining that it's "Too Preachy"; there is some and it the right amount of feminism and in one particular case it's also the reason Colin isn't a douche at the end of the book. I loved this book it's definitely one that I would own a physical copy of to keep on my bookshelf.

Good for me
Own Me (Entangled Embrace) (Silver Strand) - Lexi Scott

This is the 3rd book in the Silver Strands series.  This book can be read as a standalone novel.  For reader enjoyment and understanding of the series, I recommend reading in order.

Genevieve & Adam have both been hit with disappointments.  When they turn to one another and "Marry Me" falls out... How do you go on from there?  Is it a joke?

Adam is sure no one sexy like Genevieve wants him.  She is sure no one notices she is smart and wants her.  Can they learn along the way that its what inside that counts?  Maybe what the heart needs is more than what the eyes can see.

Very endearing and sweet story.  I love this series and this book just sold it to me even more.  I think the characters are just so good together.  I give this story a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

REVIEW:  FEARLESS BY SHAE ROSS

Fearless (Entangled Embrace)Fearless by Shae Ross

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

New adult is a different genre for me. I have not read many books in that area. Shae Ross is a new author to me as well. Not really any difference between this and the romance novels that I am used to. With Fearless, Shae Ross has created two characters that have layers of emotional baggage to work through. Devi is determined to succeed and prove she can take her of herself. Ben is equally focused on proving that he can be the hero Devi needs in her life. Fueled with heartbreak and obstacles to face failure is not an option. I received an ARC copy of Fearless in exchange for an honest review. Despite a slow start I found this story to be a well-crafted story.

REVIEW:  OWN ME BY LEXI SCOTT

Own MeOwn Me by Lexi Scott

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

As a teen I would read a lot of Sweet Valley High stories. The Silver Strands series takes me back to that time. Young people dealing with grown up struggles as they take the plunge into making adult decisions. Own Me fits right into that format. Genevieve and Adam are thrown together at a time when they both are at their most vulnerable. What ends up developing is an affinity. As they get to know one another, an affection starts to grow that leads in a direction neither expected. An endearing look into a young adult relationship that is told with maturity and hidden layers of emotion. I received an ARC of Own Me by Lexi Scott in exchange for an honest review.

RISK ME BY LEXI SCOTT

SYNOPSIS

You can never judge the depths by the surface...

For Cohen Rodriguez, getting dumped by his girlfriend was bad enough. Being told he's “not impulsive enough” was just the cheap parting gift. Still, he takes a break from his über responsible ways and dates his way through Silver Strand. Except it's not exactly turning out the way he thought...

On top of that, there's Maren Walshe, whose combination of sexy and down-to-earth is everything Cohen wants in a girl. But while they've recently been talking on the phone and texting every day, they've never actually met. Now Maren wants to meet. In person.

Faced with turning his oh-so-safe fantasy girl into an uncertain reality, Cohen and Maren are both about to dive head first, ready or not.

REVIEW:  RISK ME BY LEXI SCOTT

Risk MeRisk Me by Lexi Scott

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Lexi Scott has written an emotional coming of age saga. Risk Me is about learning that it is okay to be yourself. Regardless of what others think. Maren and Cohen found each other right when they needed to. But will they allow insecurities to keep them from taking a chance on each other? I do not want to give too much away. Risk Me is a journey through every emotion a person can experience but it is really worth it. I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.

Hiding
Hide Me (Entangled Embrace) (Silver Strand) - Lexi Scott

Whit Conrad and Deo Beckett meet at the tattoo shop where she works.  He was given a birthday tattoo by the owner, who is dating his mother.  Whit is not interested in a relationship and wants to put Deo off.  The attraction is strong, however, for both of them.

Whit is living in a cloud of guilt and grief that has brought her here to California.  Deo takes her to the beach and introduced her to things in life that everyone should know.  Like how to surf, how to enjoy the beach, how to trust a hunk...

Deo falls fast and hard for Whit.  She is not ready and he needs to take it slow to help her through her anxiety.  He does not know what secrets she is hiding, and she does not know his.  This makes for a complicated and very loose relationship.

Whit and Deo go back and forth on whether they should even try.  They cannot seem to stay away from one another.  She leans on his mother and learns more about love and life.

Deo, is learning that loving a woman means more than just bumming around and starts to get his future plans together.  Too bad they still don't talk about the future or the past.  They are just living in the present with a loving haze.

This book was very emotional and sweet.  There are times you want to pull the hair out of the lead characters but that is only because it is easy to get invested in them.  I found Deo charming and could not resist him any more than Whit!  I give this story a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!
