Teamwork
Gone But Not Forgotten - Charlie Cochet

This is book 1 in a brand new series, TIN. This story can be read on its own - but I would recommend reading the THIRDS series beforehand. If you haven't then it is not only an excellent reference to these characters, it is the story before the story.

Dexter returns to us in this TIN series opener as AKA "Chaos."  Likewise, his hunky husband returns as his partner Sloane AKA "Atlas."  Learning to enjoy and hate his job at the same time - he goes on one of the worst missions of his career.  Learning to be a spy has been fun and a challenge, but sometimes it is not fun and games.

Sloane knows this latest task is within their wheelhouse to solve.  It is going to take more than the normal assignment however, as they are up against a madman who is not afraid to kill to cover up his crimes.  While he has faith in their teams abilities to get this done - there are a lot of unknowns that can still go wrong.

I really enjoyed getting back into the Dex & Sloane life.  Reading about them and the adventures of their team is always a joy.  This new team seems to be coming right along.  I could not put this down it was so great!  I am already excited about the next story.  I give this a 5/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Forgotten Storm (Storm #1) by A.R. Vagnetti
Forgotten Storm (Storm #1) - A.R. Vagnetti

Forgotten Storm is the first book in the Storm series and, let me tell you, it certainly kicks up a storm! From beginning to end, this book grabbed my attention and wouldn't let go!

Nikki is a strong female character who has dealt with more than she should have done, which has left her with coping mechanisms she doesn't think anyone will understand. Logan is her mate and a strong character in his own right. He has done what he thought was right for Nikki, even to his own detriment, to ensure her safety. Of course, nothing goes according to plan so both of them have to deal with unforeseen issues.

This is, quite simply, an amazing book. There are some hard-hitting subjects raised here including sexual abuse, assault, BDSM, plus more that I won't go into. There are no slow points in the story and the pacing is perfect for the story. I loved how Nikki was into martial arts 'before' she knew anything so that helped her progression. Logan is a darling and I loved him! He's also an Alpha Male so obviously he needed a whomp upside the head at times and Nikki was the perfect one to do so.

A brilliant start to a series that I can't wait to read more about. Highly recommended.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *

The Forgotten Beasts of Eld
The Forgotten Beasts of Eld - Patricia A. McKillip

by Patricia McKillip

Old style medieval Fantasy with wizards and dragons, magical animals and a child who must be hidden.

The narrative reeks of fairy tale, yet doesn't come over as a children's story. Although it has the usual patriarchal society, the main character is a strong female.

I can see why Patricia McKillip is so well-known and highly regarded. How I've missed reading her before is a mystery to me! She weaves magic and drama together artfully so that the impossible feels perfectly believable and I found it easy to care about the characters, especially Tam.

She addresses hard choices and issues of human nature in a way that engages the reader in the lives of the main characters rather than preaching. Though her style is definitely for my fairytale-like Fantasy moods, I will definitely be reading more of her work. This was apparently one of her early ones, now re-issued.

There were some surprises and a lot of conflict near the end that I couldn't see a way out of, so kept me interested and gave me a resolution that I didn't see coming. Highly recommended for Fantasy fans.
