Release Day Review! Bitten Under Fire (Bravo Team WOLF #2) Heather Long!
Bitten Under Fire - Heather Long

Bianca Devlin’s work is her life. Now, she’s finally taking a vacation…and guerillas hit her resort to kidnap a diplomat’s son. She does the only thing that makes sense—intervene to save the child’s life. Being dragged into the jungle with a scared kid she’s determined to protect was definitely not how she saw this trip ending.

After she returns to Texas, the last person Bianca expected to see was Sergeant Carlos “Cage” Castillo, the member of Bravo Team WOLF that helped rescue her. Nevertheless, there he is, living across the street from the house she just bought. The coincidence is alarming, but she has to admit, his presence isn’t entirely unwanted.

But there’s something off about Cage—the way he can move without a sound or the weird way his eyes seem to almost glow at times. And how can Bianca manage her growing attraction, when everything she knows about him and his reason for being there, turns out to be a lie?

The second book in the Bravo Team WOLF series by Heather Long confirms that my initial assessment of this series was spot on, in fact I would have to say I may have underestimated a bit. Bitten Under Fire is a thrilling romance that gets the heart pumping and passion raging.

This story starts off with quite an adrenaline punch and gets more exciting as it continues. It is fast paced with lots of dangerous thrills, twists that keep readers on the edge of their seat and a major secret that not only will have to be revealed but could destroy all the happiness this couple could have before it really gets started.

Bianca and Cage have lots of electrifying chemistry and being the strong, compelling characters they are, they easily draw readers into their lives as they strive for an happily ever after which in there is threatened by a major secret and plenty of emotional turbulence.  The attraction between Bianca and Cage is undeniable, the passion is red hot and readers can’t help but hope that they can overcome the obstacles and become another strong Bravo Team WOLF couple.

Heather Long has definitely created an exciting paranormal military world with lots of fascinating characters that I just want to sink my teeth into again and again. These wolves are tough, sexy and easily set hearts to pounding and passions burning and I can’t wait until their next mission.

Review! When Danger Bites (Bravo Team WOLF #1) Heather Long!
When Danger Bites - Heather Long

Buttoned-up Corporal Kaitlyn Amador is dangerous on every level. As a human, she poses a threat to Marine Captain Jax Raymond’s special Force Recon unit. Though the team has a reputation among the other recon units, only their commanding officer knows their secret. As a woman, the danger posed is entirely different. Jax can survive the temptation for only so long before his wolf takes over and pursues what it wants.

Military intelligence specialist Corporal Kaitlyn Amador is the first woman in the Marines to be assigned to a recon team. And everyone’s watching her. Her mission? Not only prove herself worthy of her place in the group, but uncover the mystery of why Bravo Team is so successful. A mission that gets more difficult every time she’s near Jax…

When Danger Bites is a thrilling read that bites back! The story starts off with some intrigue that catches readers’ interest and holds them hostage until the very end. The story is fast paced and while there isn’t a whole bunch of shoot ‘em ups or knock down drag out action, the story seems to be full of adrenaline pumping excitement and there is not a dull moment to be found. The story also has a bit of realistic feel because it takes an all too human issue that our women face today – the one about women in combat – and of course the way the wolves ended up in the Bravo Team WOLF unit sounds like something that would definitely happen in real life. And just so you know the intrigue keeps the suspense building throughout the story not only to do with unit but it affects the romantic side of things as well.

Speaking of which, Jax and Kaitlyn are two strong characters that have a chemistry full of electricity and has sparks flying from the pages from the very first meeting. They easily draw readers in and build a connection which has readers dying to know if this couple’s happily ever after will work out. There is quite a bit of emotional turmoil as well as some smokin’ hot passion throughout the story to add depth and a spice to the story.

Heather Long did a great job of creating her military world and made it very lifelike which made it easy for me to picture each and every scene as it played out and her fascinating characters are full of a vibrancy that ensures I get to know the whole Bravo Team WOLF unit, so I can’t wait to read the next book which is due to be released soon.

Semper Fi Cowboy
Semper Fi Cowboy - Heather Long Semper Fi Cowboy - Heather Long

Semper Fi Cowboy had the makings of a cute contemporary/western romance. Ex-military guy home to take care of an ailing father, town veterinarian hottie who works on the same farm. So, why did I give up?

First, it was cliche. In the 10% I read, the plot devices were played out. He returns to his small town, stops at the local bar, catches up with the bartender he has known for years, sees beautiful woman across the bar and banter ensues. She doesn't permit him to buy her a drink, they dance, then decide to have a 1 night stand.

Second, it was 3rd person. 3rd person is hit or miss for me. Sometimes, its brilliant (see any of my reviews on Cynthia Eden's books). Sometimes, it creates a feeling of distance from the characters. Semper Fi Cowboy falls into the later unfortunately. These two meet and have a 1 night stand and I really felt nothing about either character by then. It was all very 'meh'.

Its not a poorly written book. I just found myself comparing it to other books in this genre I have read that were more memorable (Lost Rider by Harper Sloan, The Montana Men series by Jennifer Ryan). My final verdict is that while this book isn't for me, its not bad by any means and might be right up your alley!

Good Story and Characters
When Danger Bites - Heather Long

Jasper/Jax was a captain in the Marines and was riding his motorcycle back to his base after being on leave. He was on his way  back to the base. Jax sees a woman in uniform at the side of the road with a flat tire. Jax offered his help to change the tire at first   Kat said no then there was an agreement for her to buy  lunch. Kat has been sent to infiltrate the Bravo team but to act as if she is trying to train in  The higher ups wants to now The Bravo team’s secrets as the have an uncanny success rate with no casualties of any sort. What most people don’t know is that the whole Bravo team are werewolves from different packs that have an agreement with the government officials and by serving their company they also keep their pack safe as well as their secret.  Kat is excited to get to train with Bravo team. When Jax gets to base he immediately goes to his general and is told he had to wash Kat out. Jax is very attracted to Kat but he is over her and the leader of the Bravo team and he is over her in rank as well as the man she answers is over her in rank.  Kat is at the Bravo team under cover . Jax is very attracted to Kat and he to her but she can’t take the chance of being kick out of the service. Kat is very attracted,to Jax but doesn’t want to be kicked out of the service for breaking the rules. Jax wants Kat also,

This was a good story. I liked the plot  I liked Jax and Kat together. I loved the way Bravo team was together even though they were from different pacts. I liked how it showed how it showed how being in the service can be. liked how Kat had integrity and respected the rules of service life even though it can end a relationship with the man she loved. All and all a very good story I enjoyed. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I recommend.

Hip check
Hot on Ice: A Hockey Romance Anthology - Misty D. Waters,Andie J. Christopher,Susan Scott Shelley,Xio Axelrod,Katie Kenyhercz,Kate Meader,Kimberly Kincaid,Angi Morgan,Lena Hart,Kim Golden,Robin Covington,Avery Flynn,Nana Malone,Virginia Nelson,Christi Barth,Heather Long,Robin Kaye,Desiree Holt

This is an anthology of Hockey stories, centered around a championship team.  I chose Deep Check by Kimberly Kincaid for my review.  These books can be read as a standalone novel, but are more fun when read together.

Finn and January have a history.  One that goes back to high school.  The last time they saw one another, their friendship was ruined.  Then tragedy struck.  Can they repair the pain and move on?

January wants to forgive Finn.  It was not his fault she has been hot for him for years.  She does not want a repeat of last time.  Maybe they have both grown enough to make a better future.

This story was so bittersweet.  They are both missing their buddy.  These characters have so much heat and heart.  I was truly excited to turn each page!  I give this anthology a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!
