The Perfect Bargain (Entangled Lovestruck) (How to Marry a Highlander) - Jessa McAdams,Julia London

Sloane goes into Galen's pub daily.  He has the best WI-FI and cell service.  The only way she can stay in touch with her life in the States.  She tells him her ideas to improve his pub while she is there.  He very much hates that she has all these ideas.  He is annoyed by these daily conversations.

Galen is trying to make it work.  He has the pub that was his Grandfather's.  His family gives him little to no help and thinks he is crazy for trying.  He left his job as a solicitor to make this happen.  Now he has a crazy American woman offering him a deal.

This story was so fun to read.  There was a lot of humor.  I enjoyed the banter, and the heat was literally of the charts HOT!  I found myself rooting for this couple early on.  They really were the perfect set of opposites attract.  I give this a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Great Story and Characters
How to Marry a Royal Highlander - Vanessa Kelly

Edie and Evelyn were twins, they were twenty five. Evelyn had recently married but had come over to see  her sister and find out why she looked so out of sorts. Edie told Evelyn she had been at Lady Chalfort’s ball and had been caught kissing Sir Malcolm Bannisterin a deserted hall. Sir Malcolm was a known rake.but Edie had not enjoyed Sir Malcolm’s kiss . There was only one man who flustered Edie - Allistair. Edie’s mother is furious with her. Allistair had left Scotland ten years earlier to avoid an arranged marriage to his cousin Donella. Allistair however did want Edie Edie didn’t admit it but she was attracted to Allistair also. Edie is to travel with her mom and Allistair to Scotland.

I really liked this story it had parts that were funny and made me laugh. This story had great writing and a great plot. There are a lot of things included in this story:scandal, adventure, mistrust, family love, twins, gossips, drama, an engagement, a title, debts, and alot more.I loved the twists and turns of this story also the twists and turns Edie and Allistair go through. I highly recommend.

I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.

Illegitimate yet thoroughly irresistible, the Renegade Royals are leaving behind their careers as daring spies for the greatest adventure of all…

At sixteen, Alasdair Gilbride, heir to a Scottish earldom, fled the Highlands and an arranged betrothal. Ten years later, Alasdair must travel home to face his responsibilities. It’s a task that would be much easier without the distracting presence of the most enticing woman he’s ever met…

After one escapade too many, Eden Whitney has been snubbed by the ton. The solution: rusticating in the Scottish wilderness, miles from all temptation. Except, of course, for brawny, charming Alasdair. The man is so exasperating she’d likely kill him before they reach the border—if someone else weren’t trying to do just that. Now Eden and Alasdair are plunging into a scandalous affair with his life and her reputation at stake—and their hearts already irreparably lost…

How to Marry a Royal Highlander is exactly the kind of historical romance I enjoy the most. Stubborn ladies and hot highland lords – what’s not to love?

Review - (un)Conventional Bookviews

It’s not often I read a Historical Romance that is also a Romantic Suspense! How to Marry a Royal Highlander is both, though, and I know that is part of why I enjoyed Edie’s and Alec’s story so much. Add to that that Edie had been in a scandal, and she had to leave London for the rest of the season, to stay away at least for the whole winter. Alec, with help of Edie’s twin sister Evie’s husband Wolf managed to persuade a very involved mother that the Scottish Highlands was the best place to go to make the ton forget all about Edie and her possible indiscretions.

I’m pretty sure I had already fallen in love with both Edie and Alec in How to Plan a Wedding for a Royal Spy, and getting to know both of them better cemented my feelings for them. Seeing them get to know each other, and first become aware of their own feelings towards each other – then realizing all that was at stake for them to be able to be together was a delight. But it was definitely not an easy path for either of them, especially because several people did not at all want Alec to come home and take his rightful place as the laird. Not only was the romance titillating, the characters grew in a way I hadn’t suspected, and while I liked both of them at the beginning of the story, I absolutely loved them by the end.

Because of the suspense elements, there was never a dull moment, and added to that was the fact that Alec had been promised to his cousin, Donella, since he was 16 – at what time he ran away from home to see the world, and not be forced into a loveless marriage. Needless to say, his family wasn’t exactly happy to see him arrive home after ten years, with an English lady and her mother in tow. This brought on several laugh out loud moments, as well as some very well done tension that made How to Marry a Royal Highlander impossible to put down.

Written in third person point of view, and in past tense, the story unfolded at a nice, even pace, with some scenes paced faster, to make the excitement more palpable. I think both historical romance fans and romance suspense fans will enjoy this installment, which can be read as a stand-alone.

Fave Quotes - (un)Conventional Bookviews

“Now, what was that ye were sayin’ about my beloved homeland, lassie?” he asked as he stood next to Wolf. “Surely ye can’t be thinkin’ it’s anything but heaven on earth.”
“Oh, God,” she muttered. “Please, not the brogue.”
He simply laughed.

The man was ridiculously handsome – and nice when he wished to be. It made Edie feel rather gloomy, probably because she was used to men like him falling at her feet. So far, however, Gilbride seemed entirely immune to her charms.

“Ah, lassie, you can’t fool me,” he said, that seductive Scottish burr roughening his voice. It dragged across her nerves, making her shiver. “I’m not one of those manmilliners you lead around by the nose like docile geldings. I know very well you’ve been avoiding me.”

American lass seeks brawny Scot...

As if being newly single isn’t brutal enough, Sloane Chatfield's friends are getting obnoxious about setting her up. When Sloane insists she's waiting for a certain sexy fictional Highlander to come along, her friends surprise her with a trip to Scotland to find her a new boyfriend. She’d rather have a root canal. But if she can find a Highland hunk to “break her heart” before her friends arrive…

In a remote Highland village, Galen Buchanan is struggling to keep the family pub afloat. Everything is falling apart, he’s running out of money, and now there's an opinionated American lass parked at his best table, driving him mad. But then Sloane asks Galen to be her pretend Highland boyfriend...and offers him enough money to save the pub. It’s only for a few days, he figures. What's the worst that could happen?

Review:

I have a thing for Scotland and Scottish accents that started with Sean Connery and has continued with Ewan McGregor, Gerard Butler, and James McKidd, just to name a few. (Okay, yes the kilts play into it too!) Combined Scotland with a boyfriend for hire scheme, this looked like a fun read.

Sloane Chatfield struck me as the overly responsible good girl, the one who always follows the rules and never does anything crazy that might end in embarrassment. After her fiance dumps her for being to rigid and controlled, her friends try to find her someone new. But Sloane's not really ready to move on. It's while watching Outlander, that she comes up with a plan to find herself a "Jamie". After several months of no luck finding him, not that she was looking, she tells her friends she is heading to Scotland to find one "at the source". She has everything all planned out. Stay a few weeks, "find" her Jamie, then after a brief but intense courtship, be "dumped" by him. Thus diverting her friends from setting her up again. When her friends show up way ahead of schedule, she has to find someone to play "Jamie" quickly or risk being found out. Of course the small town she means limited choices, but the owner of the pub she has been visiting daily for wifi access and cell reception fits the bill nicely.

Galen Buchanan is struggling to keep the pub that was his late uncle's going.  It's been one repair after another. When the prim and proper American propositions him about being her pretend boyfriend, he first thought is to say no. But with the refrigerator needing to be replaced and another dozen repair projects that needed doing and very little in the way of funds, Galen reluctantly accepts her offer.

These two were striking sparks off each other from the beginning and it was fun to watch. From his goads about what a "real" girlfriend would do, to her constant suggestions on how to spruce things up - they kept each other riled up. Another thing that I liked was that they didn't have the "big misunderstanding" completely wreck them. There were some bumps, of course, but you could see the trust was there and they waited for explanations instead of jumping to conclusions... mostly. Overall I did enjoy the book, and gave it 4 sexy accented stars.

How to Marry a Royal Highlander by Vanessa Kelly
How to Marry a Royal Highlander - Vanessa Kelly

I really enjoyed this historical romance with its fiesty heroine and the hero who was called back home to Scotland. I gave this action packed romance a 4.5* rating. Was someone actually trying to kill them or trying to keep them apart. This page turner keeps you a little on edge almost to the end. I need to read the rest of this series.
