Release Day Review! Uncontrollable (Beyond Human #3) Nina Croft!

Quinn Sutherland, second in command of the Tribe, a group of powerful telepaths, has always been certain of who and what he is — one of the good guys. All he wants is to keep his friends safe — no easy feat when everyone in the world is after them. While on a rescue mission, he meets a mysterious FBI agent, who appears to know a lot about them, and seems to want the same thing he does. But her assignment could literally mean the death of him…

When Melody Lyons is inducted into the Federation’s elite Time Control Unit, it’s the pinnacle of her ambitions. Only when she’s sent back to the twenty-first century to eliminate a group of rogue time travelers, she never guesses she’ll fall for a man who died two thousand years ago… Quinn awakens emotions she hadn’t known existed, and for the first time, her loyalties are tested.

The third book in the Beyond Human series is quite interesting with thrills, romance and some very intriguing elements. Quinn and Melody are solid convincing characters that readers can relate to which makes it easy to become caught up in their story. The romance has an unusual obstacle to be overcome which keeps this relationship on pins and needles throughout the story no matter how strong this couple’s sizzling attraction is and since the stronger the attraction gets the harder Quinn and Melody try to keep emotions tucked in tight and keep their objectives in sight at all times. This keeps the sparks flying as well as keeping emotional turmoil flowing from the pages and ensures that readers want to know every last detail of this couples’ romantic journey to their happily ever after.

Thrills and interesting elements keep readers turning the pages of this steady to fast paced and smooth flowing plot. First, Melody is from the future so that gives readers a word of possibilities for readers to imagine and adds to the adrenaline pumping atmosphere of the story and then there is the all the exciting events that keeps readers on the hanging on the edge of their seat, prison breaks, shoot outs, astonishing secrets revealed and a trip through time and space with some surprises along the way as well. Unfortunately, this series should be read in sequential order in order to get maximum understanding of the events taking place as readers may feel as if they have dropped into the middle (this would be me as I missed the first two), also while this couple gets their happy for now, the story ends on a cliffhanger so readers have to wait impatiently to find out what happens next.

Growing up in the cold, wet, north of England, Nina Croft spent a lot of time dreaming of faraway sunnier places and ponies. When she discovered both, along with a whole load of other things, could be found between the covers of a book, her life changed forever.

Later, she headed south, picked up the perfect husband along the way, and together they volunteered to work in Africa. There they discovered a love of exotic places and a dislike of 9-5 work. Afterward they spent a number of years travelling (whenever possible) intermingled with working (whenever necessary.) Eventually they stumbled upon a remote area in the mountains of southern Spain and the small almond farm they now call home.

Nina spends her days reading, writing and riding her mare, Gencianna, under the blue Spanish skies—sunshine and ponies. She reckons this is proof that dreams really can come true if you want them enough.

Nina's writing mixes romance with elements of the paranormal and science fiction

Uncontrollable - Susan Kearney

I'm not sure how this one ended up in my pile. I must not have read the synopsis too closely. Basically, it's a romantic suspense of sorts where the bad guy has some sort of psychic powers over women with regards to sex. There's a point (where I put it down and just can't make myself finish) where he put the whammy on a couple of models (he's a modeling agent) and every female in his condo is affected...as is the h watching on a spy cam.

I assume the H took care of that for her.

Too skeevy for my tastes, particularly near the end (I tend to skip around a bit) where he cornered the h and she was stripping in spite of not actually wanting to even be in the room with him.

Uncontrollable Temptations
Uncontrollable Temptations - Janine Infa... Uncontrollable Temptations - Janine Infante Bosco There should be a warning on the cover of this book. That warning should be Do not pick up if you want to eat, sleep, drink, or anything else. Because once I opened this book I could not put it down. I am actually sad that this book ended. I really really really enjoyed this book.

The main characters in this book are Jack and Reina.
Jack is the president of the Satin's Knights motorcycle club. He is also a manic depressant with a lot of stuff on his mind all the time. He has lived through his 2 year old Son and cannot get past it.
Reina is a woman with lots of secrets and lots of hurts. She survived a horrible house fire where her boyfriend was murdered and she almost lost her life as well.
Can the 2 of them fix each other?

That is all I am going to give you about the story. It is just too good to ruin it. This book had me from page one. It is actually the 3rd book in the Tempted series, but each of the books can be read as a stand alone. You will not be lost in the series. I have not read the first 2 books, yet, but I was totally comfortable with the story. I was not lost by past events in the book. Janine Infante Bosco filled in all of the blanks along the way.
I really loved the writers style. I love the characters, even the characters I hated were well thought out and made almost human. I really enjoy reading about bikers. They are my ultimate bad boys, so much so I even married one. I loved how the details of the biker's and their law's were so close to true to life as well.
I cannot wait to get my hands on the rest of this series of books. I do know that the first 2 of the books and the next one in the series are not about biker's as much as they are about mobsters but I am pretty sure if they are anything like this book, I will enjoy them.

Mayor Rob Ford: Uncontrollable How I Tried to Help the World's Most Notorious Mayor
Mayor Rob Ford: Uncontrollable How I Tri... Mayor Rob Ford: Uncontrollable How I Tried to Help the World's Most Notorious Mayor - Mark Towhey,Johanna Schneller This is the second account of Rob Ford and his shenanigans that I have read (I'm sure there are several more out there), and of course it reinforces my visceral sense that this is a man I would never want to have over for dinner - or, indeed, bump into in the street. I probably wouldn't be that keen to provide dinner for the author, Mark Towhey, either, though he is a far more rational creature than Ford, and certainly one purpose of this book (if not the main purpose) is to create sympathy for himself. However, he has that same bumptious neocon attitude to life as the people he surrounded himself with, and it makes me shudder a little that someone so genuinely intelligent should have spent so much time and effort protecting that which should never have been protected - namely Ford's mayorship. The most interesting part of the book by far is the inside account of the measures he and the rest of the Mayor's Office team took to contain the damage of Ford's addictions (though not, alas, his ruinous policies, which they forwarded). His account of these proceedings while in the full spotlight of the media is also interesting. He also gives a rather unvarnished picture of the Ford family in general, with his profound dislike of Doug Ford coming through on every page.

Twohey was fired, and insists on that rather as a point of pride. But, had he been the man of principle he believes himself to be, he would have resigned long before, and let the Fords crumble as they deserved.

RECKLESS BY: PRISCILLA WEST
Reckless - Priscilla West

3.75 Stars

Yep. That's pretty much how I'm feeling after having finished Reckless. This book started out so ridiculous that I honestly was sitting here wondering if West was being serious or if this was actually a spoof making fun of NA romances. Some of these lines and scenes were so over the top that I just couldn't help but to laugh my ass off. I'll share just a few with you...

"The girl I passed earlier who was struggling against her boyfriend's grasp squeezed past security, approaching the god from his right. Another girl approached from his left. They each latched onto one sleeve and yanked on the fabric. Within seconds, their panicking boyfriends were at their sides, tearing them away. But the girls held on tight and the god's shirt split down the middle, one half going to each girl. He didn't react, and his steps didn't falter. He continued moving toward me, his dark eyes maintaining their hold on mine."

The mental picture of this was just too much lol

"Rye you know I'm not trying to clam jam. I'm just concerned about you."

Yeah....she really did say "clam jam". That. Happened.

"He smiled at me. "Line up. I want a good look at each of you."

"Huh?" Confusion swept over me. Did I miss something?

"You heard him." Tiffany chimed as she lined up on my left, while Amanda stood to my right, leaving me sandwiched between them.

The rock god stood in front of us, assessing."

Uh huh, you heard right. He lined them up like cattle and appraised them.

"I imagined that if the rock star thing didn't work out, he could always make a living as a human cheese grater in a pizza kitchen."

 Get it?? Cause he's all...

Wait. No, not that....

YEAH. THIS.  And for those of you that don't get the TMNT pic above, for shame lol.

Trust me when I say that there is plenty more where this came from, I mean I am not even talking about the hot tub scene, let's just say that there was a standoff of epic proportions and it didn't involve any Mexican's or pistols.....unless you count the

So yeah, I spent the first half of the book just rolling with the laughter. But then something started happening with the last half. Something different.

It suddenly got kind of serious. All of the sudden I was wrapped up in the drama. I was getting to actually know these characters, and not just their top layers of cheesiness.

Riley was something of an enigma to me. She started out kind of cool, aloof, funny, baddass at times and then through a good chunk of the book remained rather naïve, insecure, slightly annoying, and meek at times. It was hard to accept that brazen as she could be at times, she could be equally as doormatish. You can just add "ish" to stuff and make it a thing, right? I still am not quite certain whether I really like her or want to punch her in the head. A little of both I think.  **Which is funny considering I read another book by Priscilla West, Wrecked, and felt a lot of the same way about the main girl in that story as well. I am seeing a common thread here.***  It somehow ended up working for me though, there was enough of the badass Riley to keep me interested and want to see more of that.

Jax was equally as confusing as Riley was. He pulled a lot of douchey shit, especially in the beginning. But he had just enough sweetness in him too, so that balanced things out a little. Honestly I felt like we only just breached the surface with him in this book, and it really didn't start to get serious until the end. Let me tell you, that ending was something else.

Seriously. That last 10% was something entirely else than what I had been reading this entire time. It was raw, it was painful, and it finally really made me see Jax as more than just some Rockstar Stud who had a hidden sweet side.  He became real. This last 10% had me on the edge of my seat. Made it certain that I will be reading the next book when it comes out. I'm really quite curious how things will play out from here, there was a distinct feeling that Riley and Jax may have finally gotten themselves in a situation that was more troublesome than this duo could handle. It definitely felt like a shit storm was coming their way.

Reckless was something different. I may have thought it was a joke at first, but somewhere along the way I was truly invested in the story and the characters, and by the end I was eager to read the next book.

Well Done, West. You got me, but I am on to your sneaky ways now!

I received this book from Blackbird Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
