Mal wants one thing in life—vengeance against those that deserted him and those who tortured him. Being stabbed and held in a dark cell wasn’t on Olivia’s top ten list. Her savior isn’t exactly hero material. Angry, scarred, and pissed at the world, he seems to resent being saddled with her. But the longer they’re together, the more firmly a connection forms between them. A connection that binds her to him, his pack, and his world. But that connection may just lead to her death.

This exhilarating and gripping story starts off with a bang and keeps readers glued to the pages with thrills and romance until the very end.

Mal just wants revenge against those who deserted him and those who tortured him. Olivia’s savior isn’t exactly hero material, but the longer she’s with him, the stronger their connection becomes. These two strong, inspiring characters capture readers’ hearts and hold them captive with their strength and courage. The romance between certainly doesn’t start off on the best foot what with them being captives and all, but the attraction and the sizzling connection doesn’t won’t be denied. The relationship has lots of emotional turmoil, a couple of large hurdles to cross that keeps readers in suspense throughout.

As stated above, the story starts off with an adrenaline pumping event and just keeps on building adrenaline and anticipation throughout as Mal and Olivia try to outwit their enemies and survive long enough to reach the pack, all while dealing with injuries, wild bears and a connection that neither is too sure they want. The story kept me glued to the pages and the fascinating characters ensure that I want to know more about this pack and while I read this series out of order and had no trouble enjoying it, it would probably be best if read in sequence to get the most enjoyment of the overall series story arc.

The blush of first romance is sweet but this relationship has quite a few bumps to get over including a few years before they can even begin to think of a happily ever after. Readers just picking up this story, need to be prepared for a reading binge as this prequel ensures that they want to know more.

The plot is fast paced and full of adrenaline pumping action, thrilling suspense and explosive magic as the story keeps readers hanging on to the edge of their seats throughout the non-stop excitements. The characters and this fascinating world are well developed and easily capture readers’ attention and refuse to let go and there is no way once readers start reading “Gone Hunting” that they are able to put it down.

INTERVIEW WITH LAURA SIMMONS –

Do you read yourself and if so what is your favorite genre?

Yes, I read a lot and my favorite genre is Romance. I’m particularly fond of medieval romance and any kind of romance with time travel.

Do you prefer to write in silence or with noise? Why?

Background noise doesn’t bother me unless it’s really loud, then I can’t concentrate. My husband likes TV and he watches it while I write on my laptop. Most of the time I’m able to go into my own little world and focus to the point where I don’t hear the TV. I don’t have a preference, I use whatever time I can get and write when the characters are coming through. I’ve written to music before and found it amazing for writing love scenes.

Speaking of noise and writing, there are three songs which make me think of different scenes in Dark Karma. Whenever I hear the songs, Dreams or Love Walks In by Van Halen, I immediately think about Luke and Nina’s struggles and a particular incident toward the end of the story.

Do you write one book at a time or do you have several going at a time?

One at a time but that could change because I have some new characters pushing me to write their stories.
