Release Day Review! Mercenary Princess (Mercenary Socialites #1) Setta Jay!
Mercenary Princess - Setta Jay

A crown princess living a dangerous double life and a sinfully sexy Russian billionaire with a ruthless penchant for collecting secrets: a match set for disaster.

For years, one man has ruled Sophia’s fantasies. The harmless obsession keeps her warm on the nights her double life starts to take its toll. She, unfortunately, gains his attention at the worst possible moment, when she’s in the middle of a dangerous job. Now, she’ll be forced to protect her heart along with her life of lies.

Viktor has been tempted by the innocent princess’s lust-filled glances for far too long, and he has fought hard to resist her beauty. When her secrets finally draw him in, getting through her royal guard proves a minor inconvenience. But one sexually charged night isn’t enough. He wants more, including whatever she’s hiding beneath that demure façade.

As much as Sophia wants Viktor, she can never fully allow him in because her secrets aren’t her own. Viktor is determined to have all of his princess. Will they find a way to be together, or will her dangerous secrets tear them apart?

Mercenary Princess is a fascinating world that mixes the well to do world with the mercenary, take action world and gives reader a whole new view of socialites and what they can accomplish.

The characters of this series are strong, vibrant and easily capture readers’ attention while keeping them on the edge of their seat with an intriguing world that full of suspense, conspiracy, subterfuge and steamy encounters. The plot flows smoothly in a steady pace that ensures that readers are unable to put the book down until they have read every last detail and since there are surprising twists and witty dialogue, the readers are well entertained. The author created this fascinating world with well written words that it makes it easy for the reader to become lost in this world and they can practically feel the energetic undercurrent to each of the scenes, so it is very easy to imagine that the story is really taking place.

The electrical attraction between Sophia and Viktor is felt throughout the story while the erotic and blazing hot sex scenes set passions burning throughout the story. The relationship has its share of ups and downs and obstacles that the characters will have to overcome so it entertains readers as well as keeping them in suspense and I must say that the dynamic between these characters is quite fascinating to read as their romance progresses.

The suspense and dangers in this story is more on the subtle side than in your face action but it is just as dangerous secrets and hidden agendas are revealed. The drama involving Sophia’s family adds tension to Sophia’s complicated life and eliciting outrage in characters and readers alike. Overall, the story is more and better than I was expecting and I can’t wait to read the next book in this fascinating new series.

Setta Jay is the author of the popular Guardians of the Realms Series. She's garnered attention and rave reviews in the paranormal romance world for writing smart, slightly innocent heroines and intense alpha males. She loves creating stories that incorporate a strong plot with a heavy dose of heat.

An avid reader her entire life, her love of romance started at a far too early age with the bodice rippers she stole from her older sister. Along with reading, she loves animals, brunch dates, coffee that is really more French vanilla creamer, questionable reality television, English murder mysteries, and has dreams of traveling the world.

Born a California girl, she currently resides in Las Vegas with her husband.

She loves to hear from readers so feel free to reach out anywhere below.

Release Week Review! Twice Turned (The Wolves of Hemlock Hollow #2) Heather McCorkle!
Twice Turned - Heather McCorkle

Four years ago, Ayra's father is forcing her to marry to make alliances, her brother has gone off the deep end in a big way, and to top it all off, her reaper powers have been awakened, something she hoped would never happen. Who the hell wants to put down other werewolves for a living?

And now, just as she's starting to figure out her place in the world, Vidar's back from Iceland, looking hotter than ever and still managing to ring all her bells with just a look. All Ayra wants to do is lose herself in him, in the past, but it's never going to happen. He's only back and paying attention to her because she's the reaper. And there's a little snag in the form of a vow of celibacy he took.

The sparks are undeniable, and Vidar swears he's the only one who can help her on her journey. But he already left her once...

Each book in the Wolves of Hemlock Hollow series is STANDALONE:
*Once Bitten
*Twice Turned

Ayra is finally starting to figure out her place in the world when Vidar’s returns to Iceland looking hotter than ever but he’s only paying attention to her because she’s the reaper although he swears he’s the only one who can help her on her journey.

Ayra and Vidar’s are both strong, compelling characters whom easily pull readers in with lots of emotional saturated events that keep them connected to the story and the characters because they just have to find out what is going to happen. Vidar and Ayra’s romance is quite a ride of ups and downs because of the issues facing Ayra and of course the whole being forced to marry in order to make alliances but also because to the pain of past issues, but the sizzling chemistry is undeniable and readers can feel it heating up the pages during this couple’s journey.

Twice Turned is a fast paced and smooth flowing, full of thrills and excitement as Ayra and Vidar try to stop her brother and deal with Ayra’s reaper powers. Surprising twists along the way ensure that the readers don’t want to put the book down, especially as they discover just how far off the deep end her brother has fallen and that’s not to mention all the assassins coming out the woodwork at every turn.

I haven’t read the first book in The Wolves of Hemlock Hollow series, yet, I had a little trouble at first with picking up on the structure and unique elements and unfamiliar words that this fascinating world is comprised of, but Heather McCorkle describes her world and her characters in vivid detail which brings it all to life and though I recommend it be read in order, it doesn't have to be. I will definitely be checking out more books by this author and of course reading Once Bitten and looking forward to the next one is this series.

First and foremost, I love to read! Fantasy, sci-fi, historical, romance, and horror are my favorites.

I am an author of historical romance, paranormal, and fantasy. When I'm not volunteering for the IS Foundation, writing, or surfing my social networking sites, I can be found on the slopes, the hiking trails, or paddleboarding. As a native Oregonian, I enjoy the outdoors almost as much as the worlds I create on the pages. No need to travel to the Great Northwest, though, you can find me on my website, and the first Monday of every month on Twitter where I co-moderate the #WritersRoad chat.

These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner
These Broken Stars - Amie Kaufman,Meagan Spooner

Series: Sleepless Series #1

Publication Date: December 2013

Summary: “It’s a night like any other on board the Icarus. Then, catastrophe strikes: the massive luxury spaceliner is yanked out of hyperspace and plummets into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive. And they seem to be alone.

Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a young war hero who learned long ago that girls like Lilac are more trouble than they’re worth. But with only each other to rely on, Lilac and Tarver must work together, making a tortuous journey across the eerie, deserted terrain to seek help.

Then, against all odds, Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy that has thrown them into each other’s arms. Without the hope of a future together in their own world, they begin to wonder—would they be better off staying here forever?

Everything changes when they uncover the truth behind the chilling whispers that haunt their every step. Lilac and Tarver may find a way off this planet. But they won’t be the same people who landed on it.”

This is a beautifully written space opera, with elements of the paranormal. The plot is very much survival-based, and in the course of the novel the relationship between the survivors grows, which makes this book stand out.

The writing is beautiful, the descriptions are exceptionally well done, without any elements of purple prose; it flowed exceedingly well. The romance was well built, and completely believable, although a little overwhelming at times given the environment and the situation.

I wound up liking both of the characters, even if I didn’t start off that way. Lilac and Tarver’s relationship and its development was the best thing about this book. Lilac’s character is a bit annoying in the beginning and, truly, I just wanted to punch her, but in the course of the novel she suffers some major character development.

Even being a great book, I still have reservations about it that, in my opinion, keeps it from being a even greater novel. That includes the slowness of the plot, the unconvincing character of Tarver (even though I love him very much) and the complete lack of world building.

The plot dragged on at times because an overwhelming part of the book is composed of the pair traipsing through an alien planet, trying to survive an unknown environment. The narrative flows well, but Tarver’s character isn’t as convincing as I would like him to be as the lead male.

Overall, I really, truly enjoyed this book, and it is absolutely in the running for one of my notable reads. Absolutely recommended, and I cannot wait for the next two books in the series.
