Reading progress update: I've read 146 out of 146 pages.
Wonderland: Asylum - Raven Gregory,Patrick Shand

I was provided the this issue of Wonderland Asylum after issue #19 by Netgalley for a fair and in biased review. I have a full and complete one ready to post later on. For now, here is a brief summary of my thoughts. The artwork in Woderland Asylum is phenomenal. I enjoyed the sarcasm and humor.that was continued through each of the lands. Although I didn't read the previous 19 issues I felt that the introduction provided enough background information to include the reader as to where the graphic novel plot was at that point. The extra art work of alternate covers at the end was a perk. Besides the art work were the coloring and the metering which were magnificent as well. In total I felt the comic could be read as a stand alone. This graphic novel has adult themes, language, and situations. I look forward to see what else www.zenescope.com will develop.

Reading progress update: I've read 70%.
The Moth in the Mirror - A.G. Howard
Wonderland: Asylum - Raven Gregory,Patrick Shand

Although both of these books have something to do with Wonderland, they are different. The graphic novel of Wonderland Asylum adds to the Madness of the characters and asylum itself. The Moth and the Mirror has some of the same incorporation of characters from the original Wonderland series but in totally different ways. However, in both books there is at least one MAD person. The madness in both books want company.

I'll be returning to finish up the novella very shortly. It is odd that I decided to take the novella vacation and choose this book it simply reinforces that there is no logic in Wonderland and that nothing is as you believe. Reading The Moth and the Mirror simply reaffirms that there is no logic or reason in Wonderland. The novella is holding its own as a stand alone, considering I didn't read the rest of the Splintered series. I think that I would understand so much more if I had read at least the first book in the series before reading this novella, perhaps I would fully understand the conflicts and positions that each of the main characters are experiencing. SO I must admit I am a little lost in The Moth and the Mirror. I do feel that the moment that I read the Splintered seriese I would

Reading progress update: I've read 89 out of 146 pages.
Wonderland: Asylum - Raven Gregory,Patrick Shand

The art work that was done on this graphic novel is amazing. I feel that the introduction of the story was enough to catch the reader up to allow this read to almost function fluidly as a stand alone. However, I feel if I had read the #19 other issues before this, I would understand much more into the madness and depths of the story than I currently do.

It just happens that at the point that I was planning on calling the reading of this book done for the night, I came across a most wonderful quote. It has been a long day...plus my insomnia and the heat have been making everything an extreme effort for me.

Wonderland Asylum Galley
Wonderland: Asylum - Raven Gregory,Patrick Shand

I'm so excited that Wonderland Asylum is one of my first graphic novels to review from Netgalley. Thankfully the site provided all of the information about the publishers and artists. I was able to go to www.zenescope.com and check out much more of their art.

Now I'm making the quick journey over to their Facebook page to Like as well, www.Facebook.com/Zenescope . The art is amazing and the story line has caught me from the start. I'm hoping I can earn my way in the ranks for more of these graphic novels. As most of you know I was a huge fan of The Walking Dead graphic novels and own both of the Compendiums. The galley that I've really been anticipating are the Fables.

But for right now I'm enjoying Grimm Fairy Tales presents Wonderland Asylum which takes place after Wonderland #19. So to really get into this series I have 19 back issues to read. I think instead of a sugar daddy I'm going to need a book daddy. DO those even exist? If they do.....I'm  here  <-----------------

Wonderland: Asylum by Raven Gregory and Patrick Shand review
Wonderland: Asylum - Raven Gregory,Patrick Shand

Let it be known that I received an ARC copy of Wonderland: Asylum in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Wonderland: Asylum
Raven Gregory and Patrick Shand
Released: 1st June, 2014

Book Summary:

Exiled in the realm of Wonderland, the legacy of the Mad Hatter claimed Johnny Liddle's soul creating one of the greatest villains the world has ever known. But the true horror of what Wonderland is has never been revealed - until now! They thought the realm of madness was trapped in Wonderland. They were wrong!

What I like: Asylum has plenty of humor that is easy to see and isn't always that dark, despite being more of a dark graphic novel. The art style works for this graphic novel, and there's plenty of expression and position changing to show the variety and give an impression at how the character feels.

What I didn’t like: There were inconsistencies with Violet's outfit, some pieces were left off one panel when they're there in the previous or next panel and it was a bit disappointing that that managed to slip by when it was being published. Some pieces were also drawn larger in a far away scope of Violet but close up they were shrunk in size and didn't seem to fit the same. The inconsistencies in the graphic novel were disappointing.

Overall review: Wonderland: Asylum is a good continuation of the Grimm Fairy Tales Presents Wonderland graphic novels, and an enjoyable read. I haven't read all of the other Wonderland books yet but with a bit of introduction in the beginning of it about what's happened made it quick enough for me to understand what I have yet to read and enjoy it. While I felt at time the dialogue that didn't exactly flow right and the art errors I saw I did like it. The cover was done very well, I enjoyed the characters, and the idea was great to me.

Recommend?: For those that have read the rest of the Wonderland books, I would suggest them to read this as it could be a bit unsettling for a newcomer to jump into the series with this one, which takes place after Wonderland #19
