Dreamtime Dragons Anthology
Dreamtime Dragons - Nils Visser

by Nils Visser et al

This is an outstanding collection of stories, all having to do with dragons in some way. The stories are from twelve different authors so styles vary, but there wasn't a dud in the bunch. One by the editor was written in present tense, but it was actually done well which is rare.

I've read a few of the authors before so I knew I could expect above average quality for at least some, but I was pleasantly surprised overall. I've added A,J. Noon to my favorite author list and sent for samples of his other work. I do like a bit of humor in my Fantasy!

The editing was also above average, even for big publisher books. I counted four minor typos for the whole book, plus two in the author bio section. I bet they didn't check there!

It was an enjoyable collection and included sample chapters from some of the authors' other books as well, but they were self-contained segments that didn't leave me wondering what was going on.

It's also good knowing that any money generated from the project is going to a ferret rescue center. So a good read and something to help animals. Win-win! And the cover art is amazing!

Dracopedia Field Guide
Dracopedia Field Guide: Dragons of the World from Amphipteridae through Wyvernae - William O'Connor

This is like an encyclopedia of dragons and related creatures, treated totally seriously and giving not only size and colour information, but native area, natural habitat, diet and everything you would expect of any encyclopedia of animals.

It goes much further than just differentiating between a Dragon and a Wyvern, but explains creatures less familiar like Amphipteres and Jormundganders, Sea Orcs and Hydras.

I'm not sure of the authority for some of the 'facts', but I suspect a combination of established mythology and gaming manuals.

Explaining the relationships with some recognisable mythological creatures like the Cockatrice adds interest.

The artwork is fantastic. The pre-release Kindle copy doesn't display it to best effect, but I downloaded the PDF version to see it in full color. This is a book worth getting in hard copy for the art alone!

An excellent resource for any Fantasy fan's library.

Creeping Beautiful Kindle Edition - 'JA Huss'

OMG ! What and intense and riveting read this was! " I was on the seat of my pants the entire time until the end." Omg ! I am still reeling for this book even after reading it.

Talk about complicated characters "well", this one was loaded with them as they were all mysterious and dangerous and all held mind blowing secrets.

I cannot explain how much I loved this story as it was complicated and intriguing and mysterious and one that you knew eventually would turn into one heck of a complex love triangle. There were parts unraveling throughout the story I did not see coming. All the characters simply amazing,The plot itself was a little unnerving but, drew you in from the very first pages so much so you could not put it down."The ending omg ! what a shocker and had there been another book I would have picked it up a dove right back in again and would have huddle under the covers in bed and not come out until that book was finished too."I can't wait to see what happens next. The story mind boggling at times it was a bit confusing but, when turned the pages and the story start unfolding the players all started making sense.

Final thoughts

"This is the best romantic suspense read for us so far for 2020! " "We didn't want the story to end!"

Dragons Are People, Too
Dragons Are People, Too - Sarah Nicolas

I wanted to read Dragons Are People, Too because of the title. It seemed like such a weird title, I had to find out why it was called that way.

Turns out that dragons are people, too mainly because they are were dragons and spend most of their time in human form working for a specialized government organization fulfilling secret spying missions. Rule number one, never let them see your dragon side. When one of these missions blows up and there is camera footage of an actual drama, all dragons are being contained 'for their and everyone's safety', it is up to 16yo Kitty to prove that dragons are not so bad after all.

It never stops to surprise me why in books all the most serious and most important jobs are constantly given to teenagers. Kitty is this book in no different and has a high ranking position in the secret dragon organization even though she's still at school. As such, most of what happens with respect to the 'case' is highly unlikely and the resolution felt too simple. CINDY was nice though. And I also liked the diversity of the main characters, even though it turned out to be just another of the same kind of love story.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
