Recent Release Review! Flashfire (Dragonfire #8) Deborah Cooke!

He's lost all hope...until she changes everything.

Master illusionist Lorenzo wants nothing to do with the Pyr. His dragon nature is just another secret to hide and another detail to juggle, like ensuring that each of his Las Vegas magic shows is a true spectacle. Until he feels the burn of his firestorm and his whole world shifts....

Cassie Redmond is tired of photographing celebrities. She wants to pursue her dream of serious photography—despite the lucrative offer for a shot of a dragon shifter. Las Vegas is the last place she wants to be, but Lorenzo arouses more than her curiosity when he shifts shape as the finale of his show. Instead of forcing him to reveal his secrets, Cassie gets swept away by this illusionist’s masterful touch.

Lorenzo wants to satisfy the firestorm and put it behind him. But Cassie is hard to forget—and he can’t ignore the danger when Slayers target the mate Lorenzo didn’t believe he wanted...

This splendid Dragonfire novel is full of illuminating and thrilling events that keeps readers on the edge of their seats throughout. Lorenzo and Cassie are two strong, spunky characters that grab reader’s attention and holds on tight and they have the firestorm sparking with more intense heat than ever before. Both Cassie and Lorenzo are bound and determine to not only ignore the blazing heat and electrifying chemistry between them, but they are also determined to discredit the other. The relationship is one battle after another which keeps the emotional turbulence at an all-time high but the firestorm ensures that the passion is also at an all-time high, so the heat intensifies between Lorenzo and Cassie ensuring that readers stay glued to the pages.

The action is exhilarating in this fast pace plot that keeps the adrenaline pumping with lots of suspense and surprising twists that keeps everyone on edge. There is no way for readers to find a dull moment as the story enthralls readers with exciting battles between dragons and several fascinating, awe inspiring and death defying illusions. Lorenzo’s not the only illusionist in this story, so readers beware everything may not be as it seems as secrets are revealed. The Dragonfire series continues to fascinate and delight me with each new book, all of them are electrifying and sensual with passionate firestorms that compel readers to fall in love with the sexy characters.

Photographers and Photojournalist are very popular Romance Novel leads. Does the he keen eye of detail, adventure, more flexible schedule make them good love interests? What do you think?

Here are some great shutterbug leads in Paranormal Romance. My lists are never in any particular order.

1. Flashfire by Deborah Cooke

Master illusionist Lorenzo's dragon nature is his biggest secret. It's also another detail to juggle, like ensuring each of his Las Vegas magic shows is a true spectacle. That is until he feels the burn of his firestorm and his whole world shifts.

Lorenzo wants to satisfy the firestorm and put it behind him. But photographer Cassie Redmond is hard to forget. And when Slayers target the mate he didn't believe he wanted, Lorenzo realizes he'll do anything to keep Cassie safe...

2. To Tempt the Wolf by Terry Spear

Wildlife photographer Tessa Anderson must prove her brother innocent of murder charges. But when she discovers a gorgeous naked man barely alive on her beach, she's got a new world of troubles to deal with, not least of which is how he affects her with just a look, a touch, or a whispered word.

Hunter Greymore is a lupus garou, a grey werewolf. Hoping to keep a low profile at Tessa's cabin on the coast, he's drawn into her life—and into her bed. His animal instincts war with his human half, but in the end, the only thing he can do about this fascinating, adorable woman is to leave her forever —unless she becomes one of them.

3. Kiss of Midnight by Lara Adrian

He watches her from across the crowded dance club, a sensual black-haired stranger who stirs Gabrielle Maxwell’s deepest fantasies. But nothing about this night—or this man—is what it seems. For when Gabrielle witnesses a murder outside the club, reality shifts into something dark and deadly. In that shattering instant she is thrust into a realm she never knew existed—a realm where vampires stalk the shadows and a blood war is set to ignite.

Lucan Thorne despises the violence carried out by his lawless brethren. A vampire himself, Lucan is a Breed warrior, sworn to protect his kind—and the unwitting humans existing alongside them—from the mounting threat of the Rogues. Lucan cannot risk binding himself to a mortal woman, but when Gabrielle is targeted by his enemies, he has no choice but to bring her into the dark underworld he commands.

Here, in the arms of the Breed’s formidable leader, Gabrielle will confront an extraordinary destiny of danger, seduction, and the darkest pleasures of all. . . .

4. A Tale of Two Vampires by Katie Macalister

Iolanthe Tennyson has had a very bad year—due in part to the very bad men in her life. So she’s accepted her cousin’s invitation to spend the summer in Austria to indulge her photography hobby. Rumors of a haunted forest there draw Iolanthe into the dark woods—and into the eighteenth century....

Nikola Czerny is a cursed man, forced by his half brothers to live forever as a Dark One. But his miserable existence takes an intriguing turn when a strange, babbling woman is thrown in his path. Iolanthe claims to know Nikola’s daughter—three hundred years in the future. She also knows what fate—in the form of his murderous half brothers—has in store for him. If only she knew the consequences of changing the past to save one good, impossibly sexy vampire...

5. Writ on Water by Melanie Jackson

Chloe is having visions, visions of her upcoming assignment to photograph tombs in Virginia. She has the Sight, just like her Gran, the witch.

But Gran hasn't taught her anything about her gift, and Chloe is at a loss. The horrible things she sees: what do they mean? Are they real? Can she stop them? She is in a new place with no allies—at least, none that she knows. MacGregor Patrick is charming, but is his kindly nature a charade? His son Rory is handsome as sin, but angelic features can hide diabolic intent. There is no one she can trust, and her enemies wish her name to be...Writ on Water.

6. Goddess of Legend by P. C. Cast

After her car plummets off a bridge, Isabel, a world-weary photojournalist, struggles between life and death when she's saved by the Water Goddess-with one tiny caveat: Isabel must travel to another time to seduce the legendary Lancelot du Lac away from Queen Guinevere.

The handsome knight is a dream for any woman in any century. But Isabel is the one who's seduced by King Arthur. For Isabel, a deal is a deal. Now, the King watches as fate takes from him the mysterious beauty he has come to worship, knowing all too well that any interference on his part could destroy the kingdom he loves.

7. Bite Me by Shelly Laurenston

Livy Kowalski has no time for idiots. When you shapeshift into a honey badger, getting through life's irritants is a finely honed skill. Until she gets stuck housing her nutso cousin and dealing with her dad's untimely and unexplained demise.

That's where Vic Barinov comes in--or his house does. Vic can't step outside without coming back to find Livy devouring his honey stash and getting the TV remote sticky. It gets his animal instincts all riled up. But he'll have to woo her at high speed: all hell is breaking loose, and Livy is leading the charge. . .

8. Untamed by Sara Humphreys

An ancient race of shapeshifters has lived secretly among humans for thousands of years...they are...the Amoveo

HER WORST NIGHTMARE IS COMING TRUE...
Layla Nickelsen has spent years hiding from her Amoveo mate and guarding a devastating secret. But Layla's worst fear is realized when the man who haunts her dreams shows up in person ...

HE HAS FINALLY FOUND HER...
William Fleury is as stoic as they come, until he finds Layla and his feelings overwhelm him. She won't let him get close, but then an unknown enemy erupts in violence and threatens everything Layla holds dear...

9.  Son of No One by Sherrilyn Kenyon

From the moment Josette meets Cadegan, she knows something about him isn’t quite right. Mysterious and armed with lethal sarcasm, he seems a lot older than his age.

Centuries ago, Cadegan was viciously betrayed into an immortal prison by the only person he’d ever trusted and was cast into an immortal prison. Forced against his will to do good, he hates everything in life. All he wants is a way out. But for the damned there is only eternal suffering. And yet there is something about Josette that intrigues him. Something he can’t seem to fight and the last time he felt this way about a woman, it cost him everything.

He knows he has to stay away from her, but the unleashed demon is hell-bent on consuming her soul. If one more innocent is taken, he will be sent back to an unimaginable prison that makes his current hell look like paradise. But how can he keep her safe when his being with her is the greatest threat of all?

10. Second Sight by Amanda Quick

Photographer Venetia Milton is a spinster by Victorian standards. Economically strapped, she's also the sole support of her aunt and younger siblings. Things start to look up when she is chosen to photograph a collection of artifacts belonging to the Arcane Society, a 200-year-old clandestine organization founded by an alchemist. The collection is housed in an isolated gothic mansion, and Venetia finds herself there in the company of handsome and mysterious Gabriel Jones. Deciding that it's now or never for love, Venetia seduces him, only to lose the man of her dreams in a fire set by a nefarious enemy. Venetia resourcefully moves on, opening a portrait shop and assuming the persona of Gabriel's grieving widow. The talented Mrs. Jones becomes the toast of London, a surprising turnaround, but not nearly as astonishing as Gabriel's reappearance, and the danger she finds herself in.

Starfist: Flashfire
Starfist: Flashfire - David Sherman,Dan Cragg This book was definitely the weakest in the Starfist series so far. Actually it was quite a disappointment as far as I am concerned. My main complaint is that there is really not enough of 34th FIST and a whole lot of political bullshitting instead. A god chunk of the book, especially the first half, is dedicated to talking, political maneuvering and manipulation and such like nonsense and, as a result, it is really boring as far as I am concerned. Even when the 34th FIST gets involved the reading is tainted by the fact that an unbelievable incompetent and stupid general, who has become general by means of political manipulation and not on merit, comes barging in and screws everyone, naturally at the cost of peoples’ lives.

The action on those pages that actually involves the well-known characters from the 34th FIST are written to the same high standards as we are used to from David Sherman & Co but there are just too few of those pages for the book to be enjoyable.

I’m going to keep this a short review and not drone on about it because I really did not appreciate this book in the Starfist series.

Flashfire (Parker Novels) - Richard Stark (pseud. Donald E Westlake) When he heard the new Parker movie was based on this book, Ed thought he should read it again.

After a re-read, I still find this to be a middle of the road Parker book. Not bad, there is no "bad" Parker book, but not his best by some distance.

Flashfire - Deborah Cooke I really liked this book. Lorenzo and Cassie are a great couple and they're also great characters. The story line is great and a little bit different than the rest of the series because Lorenzo does not belong to the Pyr as the other dragons did. Lorenzo just wants to ignore his gift and his and the fact that he is a shape-shifter and so he works as an illusionist. The book was so easily readable that I couldn't put it down. There were some developments regarding the plans of the Slayers and I'm curious to see where they'll take us. I'm sure it will be an interesting road. I'm happy - Deborah Cooke succeeded in giving me various moments of laughter and relaxation.
