SPARKING THE FIRE

BOOK 3

A HOT IN CHICAGO NOVEL

KATE MEADER

Pocket Books

ISBN 9781476785936

$7.99

Praise for Sparking the Fire, Book 3:

“The tale of hot firefighters and the women—and one man—who love them has come to an end. Meader ends this series with role playing, fierce family loyalty and multiple orgasms. The male protagonist goes through a transformation that showcases his vulnerability, insecurities, possessiveness and protectiveness. The many instances of a family sticking together through it all are more than enough to tug on the heart strings, but the steamy sex and sentimental pillow talk make this book a must-read.”

RT Book Reviews Four Star Review, Scorcher

“Can a firefighter and a movie star really make it work? Meader (Rekindle the Flame, 2015) immerses you in Wyatt’s tight-knit family of foster siblings that she’s built throughout the Hot in Chicago series, and readers will feel like part of the family in no time. Her descriptions of Chicago will leave fans wanting to travel to the Windy City and fall in love with their own firefighters.”

About Sparking the Fire, Book 3:

Heating up reading lists this Fall will be Kate Meader’s highly anticipated Sparking the Fire, the “sexy and sassy” (#1 New York Timesbestselling author Jude Deveraux) steamy third novel in the Hot in Chicago series, where former lovers unexpectedly reunite for a sizzling affair that will have the director yelling, “Quiet on the set!”

AN OLD FLAME STILL SIMMERS…

Wyatt Fox, resident daredevil at Engine Company 6, needs a low key job to keep him busy while he recovers from his latest rescue stunt. Consulting on a local movie shoot should add just enough spark to his day. But then in struts Molly Cade: the woman who worked his heart over good, and then left him in the Windy City dust.

BUT WILL A NEW SHOT AT LOVE LEAVE HER BURNED?

Actor Molly Cade, America’s fallen sweetheart, finally has her shot at a Hollywood comeback with a dramatic new role as a tough-as-nails firefighter that promises to propel her back into the big time. And she’s not going to let anything stand in her way—even a certain brooding, blue-eyed firefighter she’s never quite been able to forget…Their story is straight out of a script: irrepressible, spunky heroine meets taciturn, smoldering hero. But these two refuse to be typecast, and when the embers of an old love are stoked, someone is bound to get burned…

About the Author:

Kate Meader was raised on romance. An Irish girl, she started with Catherine Cookson and Jilly Cooper novels, and spiced it up with some Mills & Boon. Now based in Chicago, she writes romances of her own, where sexy contemporary alpha heroes and strong heroines match each other quip for quip. When not immersed in tales of brooding mill owners, oversexed equestrians, and men who can rock an apron or a fire hose, Kate lives on the web at katemeader.com.

Sparking the Fire (Hot in Chicago #3)
Sparking the Fire (Hot in Chicago) - Kate Meader

DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH NET GALLEY IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW.  I ALSO WON A PAPERBACK COPY FROM GALLERY BOOKS THROUGH GOODREADS IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW.  RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THESE MANNERS DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!

The final book of the Hot in Chicago series focuses on the very private and quiet Wyatt Fox.  I've been a bit curious about him since his introduction, and this book was a decent look into his personality.  However, it was bogged down by a bit too much drama and deception for me.

Wyatt's private and quiet nature stems from a rough childhood and childhood affliction.  He felt it easier to just not talk, rather than be mocked, but he's retained those habits into adulthood.  This leads to a very secretive nature that at one point alienates his family.  I had a hard time agreeing with his decision on this matter.  Perhaps if he hadn't kept it a secret, there would not have been as much drama and conflict that prompted the previous books.

Molly Cade is Wyatt's love interest, and yet another secret that he has kept.  Being an actress that has made it big in Hollywood, I understood her reasons for privacy and secrecy, but I felt that she did some pretty dumb moves, both with her ex-husband and Wyatt, that landed her in a spot of trouble.

The story had cameos and catch ups with all of the previous couples in the series, so it was a good finish to the series.  However, I found myself not that interested in Wyatt and Molly as a couple.  It was hard for me to believe that they could make it work out for a happily ever after.  All things considered, it was a solid entry in the series, but not my favorite one.

Playing with Fire (Hot in Chicago #2)
Playing with Fire (Hot In Chicago series Book 2) - Kate Meader

I really enjoyed this book!  It had great chemistry between the main characters, an engaging plot and an over the top romance, that touched on a D/s relationship between Eli and Alexandra.  We get cameos from much of the other Dempsey family members, and more mystery surrounding Wyatt, the final Dempsey to fall.  The one thing I hated in this story was all the deception on Eli's part, as if he couldn't win Alex on his own without all of it.  Other than that, it was a very interesting read and I'm eagerly looking forward to the next book in the series!

Great read!
Playing with Fire (Hot In Chicago series Book 2) - Kate Meader

Playing With Fire by Kate Meader is a fantastic read.  Ms Meader has delivered a well written book.  I love the characters and they were my favorite thing about this book.  Alex and Eli's story is full of drama, action, humor and sizzle.  I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Kate Meader in the future.  Playing With Fire is book 3 in the Hot In Chicago Series but can be read as a standalone.  This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Melting Point (Hot in Chicago #1.5)
Melting Point (Hot in Chicago) - Kate Meader

Finally!! This book has everything I have been waiting for in this series! It does a small bit of rehashing of events of Flirting with Fire, but it quickly moves beyond that and into new territory. Gage is a character that you can relate to in certain degrees, and his acceptance of Brady was very moving. Their relationship felt real, with all the ups and downs that came from loving a former military man. The entire book was touching and kept me entertained throughout it. I'm hoping the next book in the series will hold up to this standard!
