To Catch a Spirit

A medium terrified of ghosts…

An empath on the verge of insanity…

A spirit hell-bent on keeping them apart.

Logan Mitchell is an empath, and while his gift of reading people's emotions has come in handy in the business world, it's about to drive him insane. Literally. His ability triggers unbearable OCD attacks that leave him exhausted, and if his psychic power doesn't make him crazy, the ghost that's haunting him soon will.

He's given up hope of ever having a normal life, until he meets Allison.

Psychic medium Allison Gray is drawn to Logan the minute she meets him. With her own empathic ability, she sees right through his powerful, sexy exterior to find kindness and vulnerability beneath.

And damn it if that doesn't make him even sexier.

But a harrowing incident from Allison's past has left her terrified of spirits, and the ghost in Logan's mansion is doing everything in its power to keep her away.

Even if she can overcome her fears, loving Logan will mean risking her life.

To Stop a Shadow

Trent's heart belongs to Tina…

…but a shadow demon is after his soul.

Trent Austin is a successful, big-city lawyer. The last thing he needs is the burden of a run-down house in the suburbs. But when his crazy uncle dies and leaves his estate to Trent, he soon learns he's inherited a lot more than a Victorian mansion.

He's got to get rid of the house--and the ghosts that came with it--before it kills him.

Tina Sanders is the best real estate agent in Michigan, so she shouldn't be surprised when Trent calls her to sell his uncle's house. But she hasn't spoken to Trent since she dumped him three months ago. Her fear of commitment forced her to sideline Trent to the friend-zone, but the flames rekindle as soon as she sees him again. Despite her better judgment, she accepts the job.

But her connection to the house runs deeper than the sexy lawyer who owns it.

Something in that house wants Trent dead. As he battles to win the affections of the sultry real estate agent, he's also fighting for his life.

To Free a Phantom

The past isn't all that's haunting…

…in this ghostly second-chance romance.

Paranormal investigator and IT genius Gage Dawson sucks at dating. Ten times out of ten, his relationships don’t make it past dinner. But when his childhood best friend comes back into his life, he’s determined to take her all the way to breakfast. He never told her he loved her in high school.

Hopefully he won’t make that mistake again.

Psychic medium Erica Miller is struggling to make her haunted community theater a success. She’s never had a problem with ghosts before, but when black-outs, confusion, and headaches plague her rehearsals, she’ll need the help of a certain paranormal investigator to find the culprit.

Erica hasn’t seen Gage since high school, and the nerdy boy-next-door she once called her best friend has grown into a mouth-watering specimen of a man.

Will sparks fly as friends become lovers? Or will the spirits drive them apart?

If you like haunting, steamy romance with a hint of mystery, you'll love the Spirit Chasers Series!

Get it now!

Three haunting, steamy romance stories – one in which a spirit is hell bent on keeping a medium and an empath apart and one where a man wants to give his heart woman but a shadow demon is after his soul and last but not least a ghostly second chance romance with a paranormal investigator and a psychic medium are being driven apart by a phantom determined to possess his medium.

This set of books is a triple delight of spine tingling suspenseful chills that keeps readers shivering in anticipation of what will happen in the characters bid for ‘happily ever after. All three stories have strong, likeable characters that easily draw readers into their stories and they all three fast paced and with plot heavy on the suspense and romance. Each of the stories are connected but with decidedly different ghostly elements and each of the heroes and heroines have unique vulnerabilities that make each story a delightful reading experience.

The plots easily build the suspense of each story to epic proportions and keep readers glued to the pages with stunning twists keeping things quite lively and spicy. The author really makes these stories stand out and believable which means that readers can really sink their teeth into as they picture each and every scene and they can even ‘feel’ the scene as well. There are ghost stories and then there are GHOST STORIES and these spirited romances are a hair raising experience times three to read.

I've always been fascinated with the paranormal. Of course, when you grow up next door to a cemetery, the dead (and the undead) are hard to ignore. Pair that with my love of a good happily-ever-after, and becoming a paranormal author seems like the logical choice! I love ghosts, psychics, werewolves, vampires, demons, and even the occasional guardian angel. If it's paranormal, I've probably written about it...or at least considered writing about it.

In my past life, I was a high school journalism teacher. But after ten years of teaching other people how to write, I decided to stay home with my kids and write my own stories in my free time. When I'm not writing or reading books about writing, you'll find me reading paranormal romances, thrillers, romantic suspense, YA, and middle grade fantasy (I have a teen and a tween who love to read. It's fun to discuss books with them!).

I love red wine and chocolate, and I can make a mean mojito. I like movies, I'm passionate about traveling, and I might have a mild Dave and Buster's addiction. I'm married to a tall sexy Dutch guy with piercing blue eyes and a swoon-worthy accent. He also shares my enthusiasm for D&B! In addition to my two human children, I also have two fur babies who swear they're chihuahuas (but at 12 & 18 pounds respectively, I'm not so sure).

Lily Dale: The True Story of the Town that Talks to the Dead - Christine Wicker

Lily Dale: The Town that Talks to the Dead wasn't quite what I expected (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). As the author is a former journalist, I expected heaping loads of skepticism. There was a fair amount but there were also fleeting moments of unchecked belief. More questions were raised than actually answered which I believe is the point. Spiritualism (the main topic of this book besides the town itself) can not be definitively proven (what religion can beyond a shadow of a doubt? that's why faith exists...) and yet the people in this town have an unshakable belief. While immersing herself in their customs, Wicker observed and participated in events that she could not explain through rational means. Was this spirits communicating beyond the grave? Were these people really capable of reading a person's future? Is it all a big crock of bull? Or is there something else going on here? If you're intrigued by the supernatural and/or want to learn more about a religion that has been popular since the 1800s then this is probably the book for you.

This book was quite an emotional one for me.
On Dragonfly Wings: A Skeptic's Journey to Mediumship - Daniela Norris

I received this book as part of a FirstReads giveaway.

Reading this book reminded me very much of my own journey and experiences.  I lost my mum to cancer many years ago and before she died she was looking for something, something not just to comfort her but to help her fight the cancer.  Reading On Dragonfly Wings almost echoes the experiences we had together when we started down the new path of what was to eventually become a huge part of our lives.

My mum lost her battle with cancer but because of all the similar experiences we had to those in this book, she touched many more lives and shone so much brighter as a result.  Together we went on shaman journeys, learned to use dowsing rods and crystals, we both studied Reiki and became Reiki Masters, learned magnified healing, met our spirit guides and many more different things.  We met lots of wonderful people who touched our lives in a way that I will remember forever.

This book has brought back so many memories that I hadn't thought about for a long time, it's made me both smile and shed a tear.  Thank you Daniela for sharing your journey, I will be reading this book many times over in the future as it will help in a way to keep those memories closer for me.

The Ghoul Next Door (Ghost Hunter Mystery, #8)
The Ghoul Next Door - Victoria Laurie

As I was reading this book, several small issues presented themselves to me with regard to story line and plot, and I thought to myself "3 / 3.5 star read for this one - not my favorite of the series" while making a mental note to mention these issues in my review.

I'm finished with the book now, and I can't remember a single damn one of the things I meant to mention.  While I'm certain that doesn't say anything good about my apparently sieve-like memory, I'd also like to think that it does say something good about the overall quality of the story; I was able to forget the not-so-great and get caught up in a rollicking good ghost story.

M.J. and her boyfriend/partner Heath are mediums and the subjects of a cable tv series about ghost busting.  I quite like M.J. and Heath, but I have to admit that her best friend and partner/research assistant, Gilley, is not my favorite member of the series cast.  He's meant to be flamboyant and over-the-top, and most of the time I can appreciate that in a character, but he's too over-the-top and often times he's insensitive and selfish.  But to give credit where credit is due, he's MUCH better in this book than he has been in previous books.  He's much less a drama queen and the story is all the better for it.

Most of the books centre on each of their filming locations, but The Ghoul Next Door has them back in M.J.'s home city of Boston on filming hiatus.  Her ex-boyfriend comes to her asking for help with a possible possession case and before they can help the victim, there's a murder and he's implicated.  Events and circumstances compel them to continue their research and investigation into the possession, stumbling on a much more complicated story than a mere possession.

As I mentioned in the beginning of my review, this plot is not without it's inconsistencies. Others may have a better time remembering them than I did, but I'd rather have such a good time reading a book that I forget about it's flaws, than put a book down at the end with only the flaws leaving their imprint behind.  In the acknowledgements, Ms. Laurie is very upfront about losing one of her dear friends to ALS while writing this book.  A recurring character in her series (and a major one in this book) is based on him and I can't imagine that wouldn't impact what we read here, so if the plot isn't flawless, well, it's hard not to understand why that might be so.

If you are a fan of horror, terror, books that give you nightmares or books you can't read while you're alone at home, I can only recommend this book as perhaps a relaxing sedative replacement.  If you're like me and you stay away from all of the above but occasionally like spooky ghost stories that are almost scary, the kind that almost-but-not-quite give you goosebumps, this is the book (and series) to try.  These are really fun ghost stories that will make your heart speed up just that little bit.  I can't wait for the next one.
