Love and Gravity by Samantha Sotto

Andrea Louviere is seven years old the first time he appears. While she’s alone in her bedroom, practicing her beloved cello, the light shivers and a crack forms in the wall. Through the crack, she sees a candle, a window, a desk—and a boy. Though no sound travels through the wall, the boy clearly sees Andrea, too. And then, just as quickly as it opened, the crack closes, and he vanishes.

Over the years, summoning the bright, magnetic boy becomes something of an obsession for Andrea. Then, on her seventeenth birthday, she receives a three-hundred-year-old love letter from Isaac Newton. Andrea knows that Isaac will change the world with his groundbreaking discoveries; the letter tells Andrea that she will change him.

As Isaac’s letters intensify in passion and intimacy, Andrea grows determined to follow his clues to their shared destiny—despite a burgeoning romance in the present. Only when she discovers the way into Isaac’s time does Andrea realize that she faces a heartbreaking decision: between what was . . . and what might be.

I enjoyed Love and Gravity but there felt like there was a lack of focus and maturity in this book. The author created several points that didn't feel finished or resolved which left me feeling as if the author may have been distracted or simply forgot about it as she moved on to other parts of the story.

I know that Andrea is a dreamer and a talent latent inspiration but her mind just felt a little too young. Even though we meet her while shes young I think I was expecting a more "worldly" feel to her.

Andrea was a little too up in the clouds and emotionally dead-ended because she got caught up in the day dreamer stage but doesn't really feel like she pulls herself out of it.

I wasn't sure if this was done on purpose or not but it was distracting for me because it felt as if she wasn't fully developed or well rounded as a personality.

Still it was sweet and interesting as a longing type of love story.

Scary Bones
Speaking in Bones: A Novel (Temperance Brennan) - Kathy Reichs

This book is # 18 in the Temperance Brennan series.  This book does well as a standalone novel.  It is a bit easier to understand when read in order with the given series.

Temperence Brennan has another string of murders that get her into a situation again in this current installment of the police procedural series.  It starts off with the sinister crime and victim, making all who read it scared from the start.

My love for the books and the characters has not changed.  I am however, at a place where I feel the storyline is getting a bit too regular.  I want Temperance to choose a man, be more aware of what she is doing, and maybe show more character development after all these books.  Otherwise, it is a good mystery novel to read.  I give it a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Playing can be fun
Calling the Play (Birmingham Rebels) - Samantha Kane

This is the 2nd book in the Birmingham Rebels series.  As always, I recommend to the reader that you read the books in the order intended.  That being said, this is a book that can be read as a standalone if you choose.

Tyler Oakes and Brian Mason makes beautiful football together.  They did back in college and Tyler played one mean game.  Now, Brian is back and a part of the Rebels coach staff.  Can they ignore what is so strong between them?

To make is more complex, there is the incredible Randi McInish. Tough cop, tough sister, hot woman, and all around sexy gal who likes them both.  Together or apart.  Randi wants to stand on her own two feet, however, and guys that want to "take care of her" are usually thrown out.

All three of them together make beautiful music.  In order to save Ty's career and the oddball relationships he has started, Ty is trying to decide whether to keep or let them both go.  Ty always feel like he is 2nd best, and he is waiting for his chance at real love.

This book was a surprise for me.  I never expected to feel so torn about which way I wanted the characters I was reading to go!  I was pleasantly spooked toward the end there and very happy with how the HEA was resolved.  I give this story 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

All I Ever Need
All I Need Is You - Wendy S. Marcus

Neve send a letter to Rory inviting him to be her pen pal.  He happily responds.  For about a year they talk back and forth.  They share things with each other that they do not feel comfortable to share with others.

Neve has been hurt in the past.  There is much to hide and she plans and wiping the slate clean and starting over somewhere else.  Right now, her plans are to earn a spot in the coveted Cirque du Soleil.

Rory comes home and wants to see her.  On his previous leave, she had told him never to come back.  The night he arrives, they fight.  Then he realizes how sick she is and talks her brother in to taking them to the hospital.

Taking care of Neve, Rory gets to know her even better.  The friendship they have is a close one.  The sexy times are amazing too.

Neve still has her plans to leave.  Rory is sad because he wants to make a future with someone who tells him she does not want one.  Can they meet in the middle?

I found this story to be a new favorite!  This one is a keeper for the shelf!  I loved the banter, and the honesty, the emotion, the feels, and well everything.  I give this story a 5/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Heart of a champion
Ryker: A Cold Fury Hockey Novel (Carolina Cold Fury Hockey) - Sawyer Bennett

This is the 4th book in the Cold Fury Hockey series.  It can be read as a standalone novel, but for full understanding I encourage readers to read the series in order.

Ryker Evans first meets Gray Brannon when she recruits him to the Carolina Cold Fury team.  Now she is to be his General Manager and taking a lot of opposition for being a woman in a man's field.  Ryker could care less.

Gray has so much on her plate right now.  She cannot afford to be attracted to Ryker and have thoughts of him distract her.  She invites him to yoga just to spend more time with him.

Ryker is goalie on the team.  Yoga is good exercise for his position.  He is also attracted to Gray.  If only he could stop thinking about her.  Nothing seems to distract him.  Now his soon to be ex-wife wants another chance?

Gray is a good General Manager.  She is really a genius.  Her new plan is to get her team to the championships and a Stanley Cup win.  No one thinks they way she is going about it is right, except Ryker and her father.

Ryker just wants to be a good father to his kids, and have Gray in his life.  Can something so simple come together?  How can they have a future if they have to keep their relationship a secret?

Such an amazing and well thought out story.  The author is known for complex characters, but this book took it to another level for me.  I think it is her best book to date.  The banter, the sexy times, the fun with the children.... there is something for everyone in this book!  I give this story 5/5 Kitty's Paws UP!
