Imago (Imago #1) by N.R. Walker
Imago (Imago #1) - N.R. Walker

I am going to file this book under "culinary" tag: too much food.
Too much sex, come to think of it, too.

And way, waayyy too much dog.

And I feel sorry for MC's because their faces must really hurt by now from all this smiling.
I feel I need something very depressing, to even out the mood :/

1.5 stars. Rounding up to 2 for the outdoor adventures.

Ink and Shadows (Ink and Shadows #1) by Rhys Ford
Ink and Shadows - Rhys Ford

UPDATE:
While reading the length of this book, one star. <----- That pretty much sums up the state of editing in this book. Hence the rating.

==================

I was sooooo looking froward to this book! This is pre-Kai Gracen universe, I was told. But the moment I dug in.... *sigh* I expected horror elements, of course, but not like this :/

This is a horror, alright. This. Is. Frigging terrible. Who "edited" this book? They really need to be fired. Like 3 years ago. Before this mess came out :/

Warning: Misplaced modifiers, POV ping-pong, adjectives (ab)used as nouns.

I lost the story behind this terror! :/ Sure, horror was never my poison, but it's on me, not the author. I still love Kai Gracen, but he certainly received much more attention from people who somewhat know how to apply English grammar to a written text. It wasn't perfect, but it was readable. Lack of editing in its entirety, however, I cannot forgive. Not where it comes to a published book. Not when that book costs you 7 bucks :/

I am beyond disappointed and this.... this close to DNF.

66% After acquiring a massive headache that not even sake can heal, I am DNF-ing. My brains says No. More!

Omega Academy (Project Alpha/Omega #1) by Jules Finley
Omega Academy (Project Alpha/Omega Book 1) - Jules Finley

TAGS: GFY, mpreg last 5%.

I really enjoyed first 50% of the book, thinking giving it at least 4 stars.

However, after Bryce's bathroom window incident it started going downhill. Too much info dumping (pre-war, pre-academy life, constantly whining about wanting to die, then changing mind...) and too lovey-dovey bordering saccharine in the very end.

Jackson never made an impression on me as a big bad alpha. Omega Oliver had more guts, will and drive than him.

A few nice surprises in the second part of the book and one more closer to the end. 3.25 stars. Rounding down to 3 on GR and up to 3.5 on Booklikes.

Dr. Reed -ha-ha, that name, different spelling but still, I could not help it! =)

Monica, thank you for the rec. All in all, it was a very fun read :)

Unexpected Demands by Kaje Harper
Unexpected Demands - Kaje Harper

I am honestly not holding the following faux pas against the author:   ;)

***

I am very happy with this series so far. Except maybe being stuck in Aaron's head a bit too much, but hey, if it brings me to this, who am I to complain:

"He lay sprawled face-down on the sheets, blankets kicked off down by his feet. He had pulled off his T-shirt and jeans, but still a light sweat slicked his skin again. He shifted restlessly, and looked over at me in the doorway..."

"He lay there blinking up at me, his eyes heavy with sleep. His hair was a tousled black halo around his head on the white pillow. He slept nude."

Imagine that baby kitteh puppy, only nude =)`

Some time later:

"I spun Zach in my arms and shoved him against the wall by the stairs. The sweatpants he slept in slid down easily and he was bare to my hands. For a moment I lost myself in the glorious curve of his ass under my fingers."

But then, but then!!!! Just brace yourself here... Put away all your beverages, hot or cold. Because - displaced modifiers! *rolls eyes*

"Reaching around, the unexpected size of him filled my hands."

And there it was, the gif I pinned not a day ago, popping up in my head:

NSFW-ish

(spoiler show)

Йаду мне, йаду!!! I mean Bleach for my brainz, bleach for muh brainzzz!

Off-World by Jonah Bergan
Off-World - Jonah Bergan

There is no actual romance in this book, just m/m sex, seeing how a few of the characters are gay.
The first chapter, the prologue, is a true sci-fi/pirates/space battle.
The rest is a cross country trip from point A to point D, with a couple of detours via B and C and some backtracking. Taine, a devil-looking alien, is travelling with an apprentice and a slave. They have sex along the way, encounter mean locals, lose stuff and unravel an evil plot. The world is populated by humans and the planet itself is very Earth-like.
All in all it wasn't exactly bad, in parts it was good, but I had hard time with "divine providence". The book would have been better without it, even with Taine failing to keep track of his property.
