This book was insane, in a good way. While it felt seer long on audio I still enjoyed every minute of it. After the events if last book we have a lot of political stuff and planning, which normally bores me a little. But not this time, it was done well with not too much of this or that. Actually I can’t say I was ever bored during this book, it just keeps you on your toes, the entire time. The group is stronger than ever or at least it feel like it, the way they stick together and work together. I loved the friendship and relationships, sometimes unlikely friendships that were being built. Of course we see everyone, who survived last book, we also meet some new people. But be careful as the book had it, we never know who to trust. We meet Zayne early on but he is a big mystery most of the time. We also meet Tindle, and I’m not going to lie but I didn’t trust or like her, but in the end I liked her. She became somewhat the voice of reason for everyone and enjoyed that. Also heart warming was her friendship with Sazed even though they both so much different. Vin had a hard time adjusting to the new life and was still struggling … again. And often I felt bad for her that she couldn’t find a happy medium for her in some things. But as she does, she found what worked for her and in the end she worked through it. In many ways. Elend, I loved him in this book and I think he made the most progress….. But maybe that just felt like it because we get to know him better. I was also not a fan of Breeze before but that also changed, I enjoyed him a lot more. The same for OreSeur, we learn a lot more about him and his kind. Overall I loved this book, we get so much action and heartbreak and twist and turn on every corner. Up to the very last second didn’t know who to trust and one betrayal after the next. But we also get some tender and heartwarming moments and I loved the friendship between them all. The ending was crazy and I’m still not over it….

I’m very much looking forward to book three. I rate it 5 ★

OMG. This book was freaking fantastic. I loved every minute of it and even though it was a long book. I didn’t want it to end. The beginning while great also was a bit rocky, because we get a lot of info dumping but even with that I still enjoyed it, the info dumping was done right so it didn’t feel so overwhelming and boring. We do get multiple POV throughput the book, but mainly Vin. Speaking of Vin she was my favorite and I liked that she grew so much throughout the book, but in a manner that it seemed realistic, she learned and grew a lot but still made mistakes and had her doubts. She never gave up in believing in people, which made her also vulnerable. I also loved Kelsier, even though there were moments I wasn’t sure if we can trust him or not. Sazed was another one I loved and a great mystery about him. I think even after this first book that there is much more to him as we are lead to believe. Elend was another one I loved way too much, we never know if he is on the bad site or not till the end and that made it so much more interesting. I loved the magic system in this world and I never had one like this before. It was different (for me) and took a bit to understand but I really enjoyed it. The story is fast paced and never gets boring and has many surprises on the way. We get a little of everything, action, magic, humor and even romance a bit , but also betrayal and heartbreak come a long. I did shed a few tears throughout some because I laughed too hard others not so much. I’m utterly in love with this series and its characters and I cannot wait to get to book two. I did listen to the audio book and it was fantastic and greatly narrated, I highly recommend this book and the audio if you like fantasy. I rate it a full 5★

I apparently hadn't read all of this book the first time round like i had originally thought, so the ending was a nice little surprise.....well mostly. Overall I still loved the book (how could I not love something created by Brandon Sanderson!?!) though I still have mixed feelings about Vin's character growth. Its wonderful to see characters changing over the period of a book, but Vin was just so fascinating to read when she was so mistrustful, plus she was super deviant which I loved. I think part of the reason I struggled to keep up with Vin's personal growth is because a lot of it happened behind the scene's (which is totally cheating btw!) Sure we saw the seedlings planted but then we jumped a big step! I know, I know Brandon couldn't spend the whole time at the beginning on Vins transformation (there was a lot going on!) but I just wanted to witness just a teeny-tiny bit more!

Anyways the rest of the book was awesome, loved the powers, characters and cultures. Though I'm hoping the next books spend more time on the other characters. Sure some had vague back stories and history but I wouldnt mind a little more! especially Breeze, was he always this smooth cultivated man? what about Ham? I'm also hoping to learn more about the grown-up mistwraith thing, such a unique creature and unlike anything I've come across before!

Mistborn is set in a world where people have a special magical ability, allomancy. They can manipulate metal to endow themselves with specific abilities. The Final Empire is in the stranglehold grip of a tyrannical ruler, the Lord Ruler, considered a God, and his enforcers, the Inquisitors. The world is a place of overt injustice and ecological disaster. The ruling class manipulates and abuses the lower classes, who are enslaved (skaa).

There is one man who is determined to dismantle this system, the only man who survived the worst hell, The mining Pits of Hathsin, where atium, the most powerful metal for allomancy is mined and controlled by the Lord Ruler. Kelsier is a mistborn, a person who has the ability to manipulate all the known metals, and has found another one that he feels is powerful enough to kill the Lord Ruler. He has assembled a group of incredibly skilled allomancers who work as thieves, and a new addition, a young female street thief named Vin, who might just be the most powerful Mistborn of all.

Sanderson has written a novel that combines several genres together in one punch: the caper thriller, political drama, martial arts historical action, coming of age drama, epic fantasy, and even a bit of star-crossed romance thrown in. And it's a great mix. While this book is quite long, and it takes a while to get a feel for the world-building and the magical system, it's intriguing the whole way through.

The characterization shows a deft touch, with layered portrayals, and gradual revelations of the leads. Kelsier is appealing in his flaws and his strengths, a charismatic man who truly believes in what he's doing, even if his actions are not strictly moral. Vin is a good stand-in for the reader, normal enough to gain a sympathetic connection from the reader. She is also deceptive in her normality. While Kelsier seems like he's the one to save the day, the reader might just be surprised at what little Vin can do. The secondary characters round the story in a desirable manner, each character serving a specific function.

Sanderson tackles some important issues in this novel. Ecological mismanagement (something we know a lot about with our rapidly escalating climatological changes and their effects on the world and even the economy), for one. Also the lack of ethics in a system of vast inequality where the rich are very rich and can commit crimes without reprisal, and the poor are desperately poor, with no rights. How this system in itself contributes to societal breakdown and criminality as the poor have little resources to do other than commit crimes to improve their situation in society, and they have no protection under the law.

Vin is placed in a situation where she sees both sides of the equation and can understand that while not all the nobles are bad, the system itself is broken and needs to be changed. Through her eyes and Kelsier, we are able to evaluate the ethics of Kelsier's plan and make up our own minds. Although seeing the horrible actions of the Lord Ruler and his bullyboys, and the way they manipulate and abuse the skaa, it wasn't difficult for me to believe in what Kelsier is working for.

While this is a thoughtful book with some serious subject matter, it has plenty of action and fantastic magic battles for the action-craving reader. The allomancy concept is fascinating and provides a very fertile foundation for plenty of intriguing magic-driven scenes, many action-oriented. It took me a while to get a good understanding of the allomancy principles, but once I started catching on, it made sense and adds up to a fun read. I liked how it has plenty of twists and turns and builds to an exciting climax. And I think that it was far from predictable.

"Mistborn" is a fantastically complex novel that offers plenty of action along with a fair amount of food for thought. I can see this is going to be a great series to follow. This definitely earns five stars from this reader.

This was so good, I was at the edge of my seat most of the time. The world building is flawless everything fits together perfectly. No plot holes, No Wait what the hell or Wait how that happened. It is perfect. The concept is unique i mean really everything about this book is unique and new,  the magical system, the setting , and the villains

THE INQUISITORS.

Look at them, talk about a bad-ass creepy villains. I also loved how the book was thoroughly detailed, the way the author described everything from the environment to the characters outfits was so vivid, i almost felt like a part of the story. But what add a lot of flavor to the book are the characters, Oh my gosh the characters are so fucking awesome.The dialogs between them were hilarious. The relationships were beautiful. Even though the book is some how big depend from one person to another. it is action packed and the pace is fast. Event after event, no dull moment in between, plus it keeps you on your toes. It is unpredictable, i didn't know where it was headed, this why i got a lot of shocks reading it. Oh The shocks, i am still traumatized .

Long story short,  it just wonderful, if you are a fantasy lover,  read this book. I can't wait to read the second book and get answers.
