He’s wearing a new kind of mask, one that leaves him questioning the goodness of humankind and the world he lives in.

Surviving this mission is the last thing on his mind. Until the night he’s faced with a difficult choice: To save her or not…

Even if it means losing her life.

But fate has a different plan for her, one in the shape of an imposing man, who casts a shadow about her. A man who, at first sight, decides he can’t ignore the fire in her eyes and makes a vow of his own: To protect her at all costs…

Will Dizzy let her into his heart, allowing her to show him there is still good left in this world? Or will the danger swirling around them be a power even love can't overcome?

Lost in the Shadows Excerpt © Tracie Douglas 2018
“You saved me, Penny.” His hand finds mine, and he instantly laces our fingers together. I open my mouth to argue, but he keeps going. “I know you're going to tell me that's not true. That I'm the one who saved you. But I'm telling you the truth. The morning before we met, I didn't think I would make it out in one piece when we made our move to take Charles and Armando down.”
“Damien—” I tense beside him, but he squeezes my hand, urging me to let him finish.
“It took nine months to get what I needed to take them down, but during that time, the things I witnessed, the darkness of it all, I didn't know how I could come back from all of that. Then you walked into that room, and the moment our eyes met, it was like the world shifted under my feet and I had a reason to make it out alive. He stares down at our connection, his brow puckered into a frown.
“Damien, please,” I beg, not sure what I’m asking for but needing to close the distance between us. I lean further into him, letting him wrap his arm around my shoulder. I feel like I can’t breathe without touching him and lift my face to nuzzle his neck.
His scent fills my nose, intoxicating me, and the temptation to taste his skin is too much. My mouth touches his neck, and my tongue darts out to run along a corded line. The flavor of his skin bursts across my tongue, and I moan throatily. He tastes salty, manly, intoxicating. It’s a taste I could become addicted to, but one taste isn’t going to be enough. I open my mouth again, this time placing a hungry kiss on his skin, swirling my tongue across it.
He gasps and pulls back, grasping my shoulders with his hands. He’s shocked, and when he looks at me, I expect to see anger burning in his eyes. But it isn’t anger I see. There is something else there, something unfamiliar to me. Whatever it is makes my body tingle in all the right places.
“Damien…” His name is on my lips, but if I’m honest, I wish it were more of his skin. I run my tongue along my bottom lip, searching for any remaining trace of him, addicted to the taste of him already. He watches me attentively, and his brow crinkles with frustration.
His eyes are glued to my mouth, and I know he’s thinking about the only kiss we’ve shared. I wonder if he felt this pull between us then, too.
He leans forward slowly, and right as I think he’s going to close the distance completely and kiss me, he pulls back.
    “We can’t.”

Release Blitz - Guarding Suzie
Title: Guarding Suzie
Authors: Nicole Flockton
Genre: Adult, Special Forces Romance
Published: March 20, 2018
Page Count: 202 Pages
After getting out of a bad relationship, Suzie Peterson has worked hard for her independence. Nothing is going to throw her off track, even if her life is taking a turn she hadn’t planned on thanks to one night with a sexy Navy SEAL three months ago.

When Ryan ‘Joker’ Smith gets shot on a mission, the last person he expects to see walk into his hospital room is the woman he hasn’t been able to forget. Her reluctance to have anything to do with him only makes him more determined to be front and center in her life.

Thanks to her past, Suzie can’t give up her hard-fought control over her life, though Ryan’s sweet patience and sensual kisses, makes her want to. But when her life is threatened, she needs Ryan more than ever. Will he make it in time or will their chance to be together be lost forever?

Guarding Suzie Excerpt © Nicole Flockton 2018
A red-hot, searing pain pierced Ryan ‘Joker’ Smith’s leg.
“Fuck.” His left leg buckled beneath him. Before he could face plant into the mud an arm banded around his waist and pulled him upright.
“I got you, man. Can you walk?” yelled Greg ‘Cowboy’ Robertson, both of them ducking as another round of shots were fired in their direction.
Ryan gripped his left thigh. “Yeah.” Even if he couldn’t there was no way he’d let his teammate know.
Cowboy nodded. “We’ll get to cover and then we can check out your injury.”
Gritting his teeth Ryan shifted most of his weight to his right leg and, with Cowboy’s help, they made their way to a grove trees.
“Sitrep.” Robot’s voice came over the coms.
“Joker’s hit,” Cowboy responded to their leader. “We’re heading to the trees ten clicks west from our last check in. Will give update when we can.’
“Roger, that.’
A few seconds later they were covered by trees and Ryan collapsed on the ground. “Shit, this burns like a fucker.”
Cowboy slapped his pack down on the ground next to him and pulled out his first aid kit. “This is gonna burn even more.”
Ryan knew what exactly was going to happen next. “Tell me something I don’t already know. Where are the other guys?”
“Who the fuck knows. Now get ready.”
Cowboy ripped the QuikClot pack and poured the contents over his bullet wound. Ryan bit back a groan at the sting of the powder. He breathed through it, when what he really wanted to do was curse up a blue streak. He knew the QuikClot was only a temporary measure, but it would be enough to get him through until they were able to get safely out of the hellhole they were in.
He closed his eyes and rested his back against the tree trunk, waiting until the burn died down to a more manageable pain level.
“You okay?”
He grunted in response to Cowboy’s question. He knew the bullet hadn’t gone through. It was still lodged in his thigh which meant he had surgery in his future. Thinking about surgery reminded him of the night he’d spent with the hot nurse he’d met when the team had taken his teammate, Italy’s, woman, Erin, to hospital after her kidnapping. Behind his closed eyes, a vision slammed his brain, the hot nurse, her hair spread across the pillow, her mouth open groaning out her release, as they climaxed together.
It had been one night three months ago. They’d agreed on the one night. No numbers had been exchanged, but sometimes he thought about her. More than he’d thought about any of his other hook-ups. Ryan refused to acknowledge that he hadn’t even thought about sleeping with another woman since that night.

Guarding Erin Excerpt © Nicole Flockton 2017
Exhaustion bit at her heels. It had been a shit of a day. A computer software problem had all their reservations jumbled up tighter than a pair of stockings in a washing machine. The last thing she wanted to do was go to dinner, but she really needed a girl’s night.
She turned the light off and closed her office door. At the end of each day a sense of pride filled her with all she’d accomplished in the past four years. Hard work and determination had gotten her to the position of General Manager quicker than she ever imagined possible.
Before she left, she stopped at the registration desk. “If any issues crop up overnight, call me. No matter what the time.”
The clerk smiled. “Certainly, Erin. Hopefully, I won’t have to. Have a good night.”
“Thanks.” Secretly, Erin prayed her phone wouldn’t ring. After dinner she planned to go home and fall into bed. Between the stress of Bryan turning up in her life again, and today’s work drama, a solid eight hours of sleep sounded like an unreachable dream.
She skipped down the stairs, glad to be outside and absorbed everything that made New York, New York. The sounds of taxi drivers sitting on their horns, the aroma coming from the hotdog stand on the corner, the flow of people streaming out of the subway stations.
“Hello, Erin.”
Shocked at hearing Carlos’s voice, her foot slipped and she missed the bottom step. Instead of finding herself kissing the sidewalk, warm, strong arms closed around her. Without thinking, she laid her head on Carlos’s chest. She breathed deeply and the aroma of hotdogs was replaced with a tangy citrus smell that was intoxicating. She inhaled again.
He chuckled. “Did you just smell me?”
Erin came to her senses and pulled away from him. Surprise made way for embarrassment. “What are you doing here?”
If she thought her terseness would put him off, she was living in a fantasy world. Instead of putting distance between them, he grabbed her hand again.
“I got your text message and I was worried.”
“What text message?” Confusion colored her thoughts. She knew she’d sent him a text last night, but she hadn’t asked him to travel up to New York to see her. She expected him to call.
His hand went to his pocket and pulled out the phone, all the while he maintained his hold on her. Her skin sizzled from the connection, drawing her back to the first time they’d kissed when they’d been sixteen. At the time, she’d thought her reaction to his touches and kisses had been because he was her first boyfriend. A crush that had turned into juvenile love. Now she had to wonder.
After the first couple of dates with Bryan, her body had never flared to life like hers was doing right now. They were only holding hands for goodness sake.
“This message.” A phone was shoved under her nose.
“I didn’t send ...” She re-read the message and then it hit her. This was the message she’d started to send to him while on the subway and then she’d had second thoughts. “I, um, I didn’t mean to send it to you.”
“Right. Who were you sending it to.”
She could fabricate that she was sending it to a friend. Somehow she didn’t think he would buy it. “You.”
“But?”
“Well you didn’t respond to my message last night and then I didn’t know what to say.”
Everything she’d told him was the truth. The only problem was she still didn’t know what to say to him. For a brief second on the train she’d wanted to ask him for his help with Bryan. She’d helped him, he could help her. But could she ask that of him though?
“I was out last night, and didn’t see your message until I checked my phone this morning.”
“Uh huh. Well,” she looked at their connected hands and then at the crowd bustling around them. “I’ve got plans, so I’d better get going. Good seeing you, Carlos.”
She went to pull her hand out of his grip, but he tightened his hold on her.
“What’s going on, E? And don’t tell me nothing. I know you. I can see the tension in you.”
Anger rippled through her and she yanked her hand out of his grip. “You don’t know me at all now. You were the one who walked away from me. From us. And yes, I’m tense. After the shit day I had, you’d be tense as well. Now, if you’ll excuse me I’ve got places to be. Real friends to catch up with. Goodbye, Carlos.”

Fighting for Redemption (The Elite: Book Four) Excerpt © Nicole Flockton 2017

"You're kidding me aren't you?" Cassandra Fielder looked at her boss, Frank, hoping he was pulling one of his rare pranks.
"No, I never joke when it comes to a client."
Well crap, he’s using is no-nonsense tone which meant one thing; it was a no prank day.
"Since when has Brett Hunter been one of our clients? I thought Powerz had him in an airtight contract."
"As of yesterday he became one of ours. He and Powerz had a mutual parting of ways."
"Why doesn't that surprise me," she muttered under her breath.
"Now, now Cassandra,” Frank tutted. “Given your experience with athletes, and given your ability to make an Eskimo buy ice, you're the best person on staff to handle Brett. I’m sure you’ll come up with some unique ideas to change the public's perception of his image. His Agent, Dan, is a friend of mine. I assured him we'd do everything we can to take Brett from being public enemy number one to hero of the hour."
God, the task was almost impossible. For his whole career Brett appeared to go from one scandal to another, culminating in a poor performance at the recent Olympics—in the pool and more drama than you could throw a stick at, out of it. The guy was a veritable marketers nightmare. And, lucky her, he was her nightmare now.
There was no point in arguing with Frank Allen, managing director of Star Image Consultants, once he'd made up his mind not even a jackhammer could prise the command loose. She supposed she should be flattered he thought so highly of her, even though he had to throw part of her past in her face. It was the very reason she didn't want to work with Brett. Athletes weren't high on her list of favorite clients she wanted to work with. Her only option was to suck it up and hope that she can do the impossible and do it quickly.
"Seeing as you have so much faith in me, and it’s obvious I have no choice. I'll contact his agent and set up an appointment time."
"No you don’t and there’s no need to contact Dan." Frank leaned forward and Cass knew she wasn't going to like what was coming next. "He's already in the conference room waiting to speak to you."
Fan-friggin-tastic. No time to prepare. No time to come up with any ideas to present to him. Hell, she needed time to think, image improvements didn’t just rain down from the sky. It was clear Frank was throwing her in the deep end and expecting her to swim to victory. Well she was no Olympic swimmer and the one waiting for her was just going to have to wait a little while longer.
"Well I'm going to need a few minutes to plan and look into things to see what I can come up with."
"No. I need you to see Brett now. Just meet him and then you can work out the best way to improve his image after you’ve talked to him."
God, how she wanted to stamp her feet and cry why me, but a diva she wasn't. A consummate professional she was.
"Fine. But next time, a little warning would be nice." She stood and headed toward the door.
"Oh, Cass?" She stopped, turned and faced Frank, lifting her eyebrow in query. "What fun would it be if I'd given you ample warning?"
This time Cass didn't hold back, she rolled her eyes and chuckled. "You're lucky I love you, Frank."
Still chuckling she walked out the door and headed for her own office to gather the things she needed. If it took her more than the five minutes it should, what did it matter? Brett Hunter could stew a little longer.
***
Not ready at all for this meeting, but knowing she'd delayed long enough, Cass straightened her shoulders, opened the door to the conference room, and found it—empty.
Great.
Fantastic.
He couldn't even wait ten minutes. Damn, why had she been so caught up trying to show Frank she couldn't be manipulated. Trying to get the upper hand in a meeting she was going blind into. She should've just grabbed a pen and notepad from someone else's desk, marched straight into the conference room, and dealt with Brett. If she'd done that she may have been back in her office, going over her notes.
Now she had to walk around the office to try and find her elusive new client. All the while making sure Frank didn’t notice she’d misplaced their now star client. Hoping like hell he hadn’t already left the building and was well on his way to getting into trouble. She had to find him fast.
If I was a disgraced athlete where would I go?
To the nearest exit and the closest bar?
That could be her scenario if she Brett didn’t turn up somewhere in the office.
"Are you my new brand expert?"
A deep voice sounded behind her. Relief coursed through her knowing that she wouldn't have to walk into Frank's office and tell him she'd lost his friend's client.
She turned, faced her quarry, and stuck out her hand. "Good morning Mr. Hunter, I'm Cassandra Fielder and yes I will be working with you to tidy up your image."
Her breath caught when Brett took possession of her hand in his and gave it a firm shake. Liquid heat wound its way through her bloodstream.
What the hell?
