Book Review for He Hates Me by Isabella Starling and Rina Kent
He Hates Me (Hate & Love Duet, #1) - Isabella Starling,Rina Kent

Omg ! this was one intense read. The story drew you right in from the very first chapters and kept you glued to the pages the entire time.I have to say that reading this story made me feel edgy and uncomfortable and if I am being honest scared out of my whits most of the time because Jasper scared the hell out of me right from the onset of meeting him.I could not help but, be drawn to the dark and dangerous man and I can see why Georgina is being drawn to the man as he's a bit of a mystery but,  mostly she craves his dominance and the darkness that housed within him.

Georgina is in a rut in her life every day is the same old boring thing but, after meeting Jasper her life is anything but, because Jasper is  utter chaos and the sexy as sin man has gotten under her skin.I loved Georgina she at first seems tamed and timid but, in reality she is a she-cat with claws.

Jasper is dark ,dangerous and killer for the mob but, now you can add stalker to his resume. Georgina aka Petal has gotten under his skin as well and now he is playing a very dangerous of cat and mouse with his prey Petal but, at this point it is anybody's guess who will come out on top as he is obsessed and protective of her all the while toying with his prey and at the same time plans to take her life at some point when he is done with her but, will he ever be able to be done with her? .That is the million dollar question....

The story was suspenseful and intriguing and had a cast of great characters that we thoroughly enjoyed. This story got off to a wonderful start and I can't wait to see what happens next.Omg ! Omg ! We just loved it !I loved this duo as they did a amazing job drawing us into their web of darkness !

This hasn't been published, yet, but with a prospective release date of 4th October, it looks like there is some guilty pleasure reading coming my way just in time to fill the Darkest London square of the Halloween Bingo.

Harm, Threat, Malice - The Rina Walker Series (Books #1-#3)
Harm - Hugh Fraser
Threat - Hugh Fraser
Malice - Hugh Fraser

Looking back at the books I have read this year, Hugh Fraser's three novels, Harm, Threat, and Malice, are without a doubt some of the most memorable reads: I cannot remember the last time I read a series that I had so many problems with, and that, at the same time, made me laugh so much and was so gripping that I had to read the entire series.

I had problems with the first book, Harm, a few weeks ago, and in particular the depiction of a gritty side of London (and it hardly can get any grittier or more violent, and - in parts - more sickening). In fact, all three books are full of similar elements - except that the award for scenes that made me go "eeeww" has to go the Threat for its graphic displays

of murder and necrophilia

(spoiler show)

And yet! I had to read on. I loved Rina, our kick-ass main character. Considering she is an assassin, she's not as amoral as the her job title makes her out to be. She's motivated - so we are told - by the wish to take care of and make a better life for her kid sister. Having been thrown into a life of crime, she makes the best of her circumstances, which just happens to lead to ... more crime. But just as Rina and her friends are not all bad, the characters who are portrayed as fitting in with society are not really all that good. A part of the enjoyment of reading about Rina is reading about how she is able to hold a mirror up to respectability and show that it isn't all it is cracked up to be.

Of the three books, I liked Threat (book #2) best, even tho it did gross me out, and even tho the chapter set in Berlin was awful.

In addition to Rina being contracted as a more colourful version of James Bond, it also showed more about Rina's relationships at home, and how she cares for her kid sister and her girlfriend.

The third book, Malice, seems the most sedate of the three, but it may just be that I could not muster up that much interest in London gangsters. Malice certainly lacked the - what I call - "WTH-elements" of the first two books.

I hope there will be more books in the series, and I am probably going to read them if there are: the books are entertaining, and I loved reading them in between more serious tomes. Still, it is better to approach them the same way I would approach a Bond novel ... with a glass of wine and a pinch of salt.

Harm - 2.5*

Threat - 3.5*

Malice - 3*

Crazy for You
Crazy for You - Rina Gray There is a fine line between being overly preachy and informative. With Crazy for You, Ms. Gray expertly toes that line with issues and characters that are easy to relate to and fall for. Characters like Charlotte are created to inspire, entertain and deliver a message. Happiness resides in loving and accepting the things in ourselves, that can not be changed. Jake was a temptation, but the way he motivated Charlotte and encouraged her to accept herself, made him a winner in my eyes. Rina Gray floats just below the radar in order to raise the bar a tad higher with every story she writes.

Excerpt:

The crowd screamed and clapped. A few rows behind Tiana, someone started a chant for the Beast. Clapping, she chanted with the crowd. The announcer waved a hand in the air and gripped the mic with his other one. “Unanimously voted to win all four rounds and still undefeated, I give you,” he walked to the corner and raised Nathan’s arm in the air, “the Beaaaaaassst!”

Tiana jumped and clapped as he stepped away and waved his arms in victory to the crowd. This isn’t so bad.

Tiana wants to have a dozen babies with you, Beast!” Mel screamed at the top of her lungs.

Before Tiana could renounce her Martin Luther King philosophy of nonviolence and sock her former friend in her arm, Nathan turned to face them.

A flicker of heat, and a big dose of danger burned in his gaze. A jolt of energy zapped and electrified her. Every particle and cell in her body awakened, liquefied, and then sizzled. His lips tipped at the corners into a lazy smile.

I’ll have your babies, too!” someone yelled from the crowd. His gaze stayed fixed on her face. His dark eyes broadcasted, “I’ve seen you naked and I like it,” to anyone who cared to see. Clenching her legs together, she quivered. Nathan gave her a cocky-ass smile as if he knew he was the cause of the mini-explosions firing within her.

A ring girl stepped into the octagon, sashayed up to Nathan, and leaned in for a kiss. Tiana jerked away from their intimate moment and held her breath for a second before looking back. Much like his fight, he ducked the woman’s advances, hopped on the stool in his boxing corner, and jumped over the ropes surrounding the ring. Landing with the ease of a panther, he stalked toward Tiana.

Mel nudged her and whispered, “Brace yourself.” Taking her friend’s wise advice, she breathed deep. Her eyes filled with him. A tall, dark, sexy, and sweaty vision. This man—this sexy beast—wanted her. Only her.

Peaches,” he growled as he snatched off his gloves and tossed them carelessly on the floor. Closing the distance between them, he wrapped one hand around her waist and cupped her face with the other. His hard, unrelenting eyes continued to broadcast a message. No going back. His tongue swiped her mouth, as if testing the waters, followed by firm, warm lips. He commanded surrender, obedience, and absolutely no negotiations. She clung to him knowing his kiss had changed everything.

Her heart slammed and knocked against her chest, and her knees buckled. She was … Damn it, am I swooning? Like a well-practiced, swashbuckling pirate, his arms snaked around her waist as he drew her body into his. Wetness pooled and flooded her lacy Vicky Secrets. Nathan had just KO’ed her va-jay-jay.

It's Been You (Crush on You)It's Been You by Rina Gray
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book # 2, in the Crush On You series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. For reader enjoyment and understanding, I recommend reading the series in order.

Tiana & Nathan went to college together and competed there. Now, working for the same employer, the old rivalry is back. If only they could resist being attracted to one another...

Nathan thought she had deceived him in the past. Now he wants to teach her to have fun and maybe gain trust between them. It is time to put the swords down, and maybe take up kissing.

This series just keeps getting better! This story was so hard to put down. The chemistry is sizzling hot and the banter is light and fun. Really an enjoyable read.
